I hate when people ask what language I’m learning. They always say “What. Why would you want to learn Korean?!” I’m sorry, did I ever ask you why you wanted to learn English or Spanish? Nope! Or when they make fun of me for watching “those Korean shows” or listening to kpop. Just because I don’t fully understand the words doesn’t mean that the music alone doesn’t feed my soul. I can appreciate the translation of the lyrics and the emotions put into each song. Loving something others look down upon is brave and true to who we are. I won’t stop learning Korean just because of others opinions. I won’t stop listing to amazing songs or watching captivating Kdramas just for others. Preparing for another round of test 😩. I like reviewing/test is pushes me to see how much I actually retained but it also pushes me. 🤣 So, I have a love/hate relationship with these classes. I did great on the last one but did poorly on the one before that. On this last one, I was able to redeem myself esteem though! There is nothing better than the teacher telling you that she is so proud of you. Those are simple words to her but they were such a confidence booster for me. Wish me luck for tomorrow’s test, hopefully I keep up doing good. 🤞🏼 I work so hard at learning the language but some days I feel like a babbling idiot. Then some times I think that I can do this. The problem is that it’s an emotional wave that I ride daily while trying to learn a new language. I’m tired of sounding like a two year old but I know that one day I’ll be a four year old talking! ... sadly that’s a goal for me. You can’t eat an Elephant in one bite, you have to eat it one bite at a time. This journey is amazing me! When I first started learning Korean, it was fun but also overwhelming to me. When got my student book from my tutor, I flipped ahead and was immediately intimidated by the content. I felt “how in the world will I ever get that or be able to read that” but today I am! I’m reading full paragraphs and understanding them as I read. It’s amazing what you can accomplish, if you just take it one step at a time!
