Eddie, to his Tiktok audience: Stevie accidentally took our cat with him to work last week and she was not a fan of the public school system.
Eddie: Now when Steve leaves for work, she does this.
Eddie: *flips camera around to show Steve putting his shoes on to leave*
Joan, the disservice cat: *emitting a loud drawn out meow of distaste in Steve’s face*

@steddie-spooktober day 8: bonfire | 447 words | G |
For hours, the bonfire in Steve's backyard had been a roaring blaze, surrounded by chatter and laughter that burned just as bright, just as free. The kids chased each other around with marshmallow sticks while the older teens drank beer and told ghost stories. Actually, who were they kidding - the adults were just as loud and obnoxious as the kids. Eddie himself was the one who'd started the stick battle in the first place when he attempted to fight Robin for the seat on the bench next to Steve, claiming the smoke was blowing in his eyes where he was sitting. He'd made a valiant effort but ultimately lost and had to claim his victory through subterfuge instead, AKA stealing her spot when she got up to go to the bathroom. He stayed there for the rest of the night. (Robin rolled her eyes and took Eddie's old seat. “There's no smoke here, dumbass,” she said, and Eddie shrugged. Maybe he just wanted to sit by Steve.)
Now, though, the flames are burning low, the conversation so too, and no one has the energy left to try to get either going again. It's late, the party’s over. One by one the rest of the group disperses, says their goodbyes, until only Steve and Eddie remain by the remains of the fire. Neither of them make any move to follow suit, in no hurry to leave and perfectly content to stay right here sitting on this bench for a little while longer.
Left alone with the quiet and the dying embers, something seems to shift in the space between them. One glance at Steve now has Eddie feeling all of the sudden breathless and mesmerized.
Maybe it's the fading firelight, bathing them in a dusky orange glow, sleepy shadows dancing languidly across their faces. Maybe it's the smile Steve gives him, the softest little curve at the corner of his mouth. Or maybe it's just the beers they've had and the joint they'd shared hazing over their minds. Whatever it is, Eddie finds himself leaning in, and Steve meets him halfway.
Their lips connect, fit together like puzzle pieces. It's nothing more than a slow, gentle press of a kiss, lingering for only a few moments before they separate, but it's enough to leave a warmth rippling through Eddie's chest, a mini bonfire of his own sparked in his heart.
Maybe later they'll talk about it. Maybe tomorrow they'll face each other with awkward confessions of regret or dramatic confessions of love.
Or maybe, Eddie thinks as Steve settles his head on his shoulder and entwines their hands together, maybe they don't need to say anything at all.

For the @steddie-spooktober day 10 prompt : orchard
rated: T | cw: none | tags: pre relationship
🍎🍎🍎🍎
‘Ow, fuck! Eddie!’ Steve exclaims as an apple hits his shoulder. It’s more out of surprise than pain though and he quickly barrels after Eddie.
They speed past Robin and Nancy, who are actually taking in the beauty of the orchard in the bright fall sunshine.
Meanwhile Eddie is cackling as he sprints as fast as his skinny legs will take him away from Steve.
But Steve is at his heels, breathless and determined as he finally manages to tackle Eddie to the ground.
‘Got you.’ He pants, triumphant and grinning.
Eddie grumbles and wriggles halfheartedly, his hair splayed out around his head like a halo and his cheeks flushed pink from exhaustion.
Steve doesn’t think as he stops Eddie’s attempts to move by pinning his wrists. They feel bony and small under his palms. Eddie’s lips are as red as his cheeks, eyes wide.
Steve’s breathing evens out and he shifts, squeezing his thighs either side of Eddie’s waist.
Eddie squeaks.
Steve freezes.
Eddie looks pretty like this. Laid out beneath him.
Fuck.
‘I, I think I want to, kiss you?’ Steve blurts.
An apple hits him between his shoulder blades. ‘Get a room!’ Robin shouts.

Some guy Steve and rockstar Eddie
Steve sees Eddie out in public and partially recognizes him, no idea he's famous but in one of those I've definitely seen your face before but he can't get his concussion riddled brain to place where
Eddie meanwhile is bracing himself for either an over eager fan or based on how angry Steve's confused face is for him to start shouting about 'satan worship'
Imagine Eddie's surprise when Steve does finally approach him he simply asks 'do you know Dustin?'
