Resident Evil meta analysis master post
This is a comprehensive list of what I consider to be my most important meta analysis posts -- but they're not my only posts about it. Check out my #meta analysis tag for more.
General Meta:
Resident Evil 4 Remake's story is structured like the plot of a romance novel
One of RE4make's major themes is "the power/meaning of being part of a team (or not)"
Why playing the games is vital to writing meta analysis
Character Meta:
Leon:
Leon was never in STRATCOM
Leon's wiki page is filled with lies and bullshit
The premise behind fandom's understanding of Leon's character is flawed and absurd
Map of Leon's double-negative change arc in RE2make followed by his positive change arc in RE4make
Leon is "The Protector" archetype
RE4 Leon is still mentally/emotionally 21
OG Leon is a whore who's lonely and fucking hates himself
"This time, it has to be different..." is in reference to Leon's faith in humanity (and also himself)
Ada:
Map of Ada's positive change arc in RE4make
The purpose of having Ada witness the "For Luis" scene
Remake Ada is as selfish character
Ada gets rejected by both Wesker and Leon in Remake
Ashley:
Map of Ashley's positive change arc in RE4make
Ship Meta:
Aeon (Ada/Leon):
The Aeon-hater's guide to understanding OG Aeon
Unpacking the tram scene in RE2make
Separate Ways killed Aeon in the Remake timeline (and here's how)
EagleOne (Ashley/Leon):
Breaking down the Dining Hall conversation (eagleone is canon)
Allegorically romantic moments between Leon and Ashley: • The pep talk scene • The balcony scene • The suppressant scene
Chreon (Chris/Leon):
No one loves Leon Kennedy as much as Chris Redfield does
MetalTango (Krauser/Leon):
Remake Krauser was not an abuser and Leon loved him
Weskada (Wesker/Ada):
A case for OG-verse Weskada

I just listened to Bitty Schram on Magic Mike Outlaw Radio Podcast, and omg. I knew there was a contract dispute, but I never knew it was that bad. It low-key changed my views on Monk. Although, it's unfortunate we won't be seeing Bitty acting anytime soon, I'm glad she's in a better place.
Also, Bitty has a beautiful full name.

Beautiful analysis!
From Mr. Monk Goes to the Circus.
I love Bitty Schram for this performance. If it were a normal employer/employee relationship, Sharona could have just shrugged and quit, and Monk could have shrugged and found a new assistant. In fact, Sharona wouldn't have taken offense at being told to "suck it up," and might have just scoffed at him.
Instead, beyond being furious at him, Sharona is heartbroken. That's not a reaction that a regular employee would have anyway, but it's even more so because Sharona has made him part of her family, has been his heartbeat and his lifeline when he had no one else. She deserves to be recognized for that, and she deserves his compassion and decency.
And to rectify the situation, Monk did things that I don't think a regular employer would do, i.e. finding those Queen of the Night tulips (which are NOT CHEAP!), undoubtedly driving a florist insane over petal count and height to make sure the bouquet was perfect (for his girl!), and just sort of waiting around for her to come back to him. Dr. Kroger asks him what's going on between them and I think that's probably a question he should ask more often. You don't hear Monk talk about Sharona much in therapy until she's gone and Kroger is trying to help Monk through his grief. Dr. Kroger sees how destabilized Monk is without Sharona even as he advocates on Sharona's behalf. And on the phone Sharona still tells him to be careful, even though she's so hurt. She cries more than once over this in the episode but never to Monk, and this scene is where he starts to get it.
I don't believe Monk is truly unempathetic, and he doesn't want to make Sharona cry. I think he takes Sharona for granted, for sure, but I think it's because he loves her so much he's just absorbed her into the fabric of his reality. I think she's become part of him in such a way that he forgets she is her own person. In The Sleeping Suspect he admits he forgets to consider how lonely and overworked Sharona is, and how jealous he is at the idea that some other man could take her away. I'm baffled at how anyone could think this was intended to be a platonic relationship, but anyway!
It's funny how as soon as Sharona points out that he might be starting to understand, Monk reaches out to touch her. She stops him, of course, but I think it's interesting, given how he really doesn't ever initiate physical contact.

I just finished watched Mr. Monk and Sharona from season 8, and wow.
The opening scene was great. I love that Adrian washed out his eyes to double check that he was actually seeing and talking to Sharona. The chemistry between Monk and Sharona hasn't faded at all, and like they said in the 2008 interview, it's as if Bitty Schram haven't left at all. She still portrayed Sharona so well, and made me rethink why I always liked her and Adrian together.
When Monk kept touching Sharona's bag to see if she had the ticket, and Sharona was pushing his hands away. And Monk kept doing it, and Sharona pushed his hands away again, before admiting she doesn't have it. Or When Sharona got the wipes from the drawer, and gived one to Monk, and Monk smiled at her saying "You still got it." Ah I loved that scene. (I would put gifts of the scene, but I do not know how to make gifs). Also, when Benjy was mentioned, it warmed my heart.
I was mainly disappointed with this episode because I expected Sharona and Monk to solve the crime... Sharona and Monk style for old times' sake (as well as to thoroughly please the Sharona fans), but because Natalie is also Monk's assistant, it was obvious they were going with the two women argue for which one is the better assistant, before making up and capturing the criminal together plot, which I didn't mind. I just really wished we had more moments with Adrian and Sharona in this episode. I mean, it is titled Mr. Monk and Sharona.
I love when Stottlemeyer spoke to Adrian about how different Sharona and Natalie are, and he's correct. There are so different, and I liked them both because of that.
It was amusing when it was revealed that Adrian paid Sharona $20 more than Natalie, and Monk's excuses were funny as well. I'm glad Adrian and Sharona shared a beautiful embraced after her little speech. I'm not good with numbers, but I think that's like the third time they have hugged. Which isn't that bad, since Adrian and Sharona has been together for 35+ episodes (including this one), and neither initiate the hugs—well... Sharona initiated all three, but hopefully you guys know what I mean.
And ugh! When Sharona was like "I know that look. I hate that look." because she knows that Monk knows ther her uncle's death wasn't an accident, but murder. Ugh! And it hurts Monk because he knows it wasn't an accident, and since it wasn't an accident, Sharona won't be able to get the money from the golf company. Aw my. It's a good thing the ending didn't disappoint :)
Another thing: I didn't liked that Sharona and Randy dated—not because I shipped Adrian and Sharona. I didn't liked it because I believed the two shouldn't dated because of familiarity. Randy should've dated another girl, or a girl he had an onscreen relationship with. Crystal came to mind. I also don't think they suit each other besides the surface level (this is funny since I ship Adrian and Sharona together). Although he's the comedic relief of the show(which I believed hindered some of his character development), Randy had shown incompetency which would annoy Sharona. There's more reasons, but if yiu ship them together, that's cool as well. There's no rules to shipping. Those are my personal reasons. There's someone of you guys who probably reached reached the idea of Adrian and Sharona together, and that's okay.
Overall, the episode was okay. It reminds me why I miss Sharona so much. Tony's and Bitty's chemistry is still through the roof. I wonder what behind the scenes of that episode looked like.

I wished Monk did more episodes where Adrian just thought to himself like they did in 1x06.

I agree! I need some fanfics with Monk and Sharona.
That fic you wrote?
The one about the ship no one else cares about, or the deeply unpopular character, or the extremely unusual AU?
The fic that got no comments or kudos when you posted it?
Months or years from now, that fic might be exactly what someone is looking for in the sea of fics about all the popular characters, ships, and AUs.
Your fic might be the only fic out there that has what someone is looking for. The only fic that scratches the itch that it turns out you and that reader share.
And that's awesome.
