Life after Corona Virus

After the lockdown of two months, when the government is in unlocking phase. Decision to unlock is receiving mixed emotions. India has implemented one   of the toughest lockdown of the world. While the experts are analyzing the good and bad impact of lockdown, but there is no doubt that decision to ease the restriction is taken unanimously. The decision of implementing the lockdown in country may have its pros and cons. But one thing is for sure that it can’t be implemented for the lifetime. And to understand this we have taken a little extra time.

After the lockdown there are various opportunities which can be seen in different sectors .One of the most important sector is education. If we want to compete with the developed country than we have t o forge the human resource department of our country. We have to raise the standards of education. And for this one need not to be the fortune teller that this is the time to make our education system online.

Education industry can’t be a pawn of Real estate any more. It needs to think beyond that. More focus should be made on quality education and improving basic infrastructure than making high rise building. Bigger Investment should be made in the education sector.

Now, online education must take the position of conventional education. The best thing about online education is that no big infrastructure is needed to teach a big class. By developing infrastructure of online education we can stop the migration of students from small cities and rural areas. They come to big cities to get better education. BY making the education infrastructure online we can also provide education at much cheaper rates.

There can be no alternative for conventional education till the intermediate level. As children going to school learns not only academic knowledge but also learns different skills. Yet the benefits of online education can be provided there. In India school education is affected due to various reasons like political elections, festivals, Air Pollution and climate change etc.

From the past few years pollution is also affecting the education. Schools are being shutdown due to heavy smog in the country during winter season. In these conditions online education may not be ideal but for maintaining the continuity in education. Online education must be taken as an alternative.

As virtual classes are picking up pace, so it is time to redesign the education infrastructure. Basically education has two pillars i.e. Knowledge and Understanding. Both have equal importance. However, exams infrastructure can’t be focused on any one of them. Whereas online exams might be considered as an open book. This will give the pace to the application of knowledge and also helps in knowing the subject understanding.

We can’t close our eyes upon the weak education infrastructure. Some drastic changes has to be made so that better education can be given to each and every citizen of the country. Education is the basic need and must be provided to all. Governments need to invest more on the online education as it is a economic alternative and it can reach the remote areas of the country. Lockdown has created an opportunity to make the system online. This opportunity should not be let go.
