i will say one thing i’m not super thrilled about is the obvious rex and rae pairing set up that’s happening. i mean it’s not super obvious in the conventional sense but obvious in the way invincible does romances of “boy and girl stand in room talk to each other oooo bam dating now”. i just think its a little sad that they genderswapped rae and wanted to give her a bigger story and decided the only way they could do that was by…… pairing her up with a dude. okay. sure what the hell i guess

though if i am just jumping the gun and they dont actually get a budding romance arc i’ll eat my own foot and be pleasantly surprised

Amber from invincible Is one of those character who isn't even in my top ten but I ill defend her with my LIFE because let's be real, if you still hate her after season 2, it's not because you just wanted eve and mark to end up together.

in my rewatch i've come to the conclusion that the markeve progression was going totally fine until this scene. and that this is one of those situations where sticking too closely to the comics was a hashtag fail

After finishing the first season of Invincible today, one of the biggest things that struck me - beyond it being fucking excellent - was the juxtaposition of perspectives on lineages.

The Mauler Twins keep cloning themselves, then re-uploading their memories while keeping themselves from finding out who is and isn't the original. Rudy uses the same technology to get a new body, while his old self is fine with being discarded afterward because he sees the new body as his real continuation.

And then there's Omni-Man.

Omni-Man tries to duplicate himself the traditional way: have a kid, then mold it into a perfect copy of himself. This, of course, fails. And the only thing he can do to try to keep it from failing is the same thing uncountable numbers of parents have tried for millennia: abuse. Force the malfunctioning clone into the role it was made for, to fulfill its creator's wish for a new body to inhabit. A younger one, to outlive the original, then to keep repeating the cycle to conquer death and attain immortality.

Parenting has come a long way in recent decades. More and more people recognize the importance of treating children as people, rather than as the property of their parents. And the people who don't recognize that are horrified. To them, denying them the chance to force their kids to become like them means denying them the clones that could extend their lives. Meanwhile, lots of the people who do recognize this are getting less interested in becoming parents. Because they recognize that that's just one of many things someone can do with their life, not something they have to do just because their predecessors did - and not something their own existence may as well depend on.

This isn't the only way that people seek immortality, but it has been a very impactful one. Assuming it continues to recede - as it should - I wonder what societies will do to adjust, and how they'll fill in the gaps it leaves.

I finally bit the bullet and started on my Rogues full-bodies, and of course I had to start with the three Rogues who made this AU to begin with! I’m also gonna use this post to ramble about them a bit!

As different as these three may seem, they’re all artists at heart. And that’s what brought them together! In a way.

I don’t want to get into how they met just yet, but I do want to talk about them in present day terms. As of now, all three of them live on the far outskirts of Gotham in Lazlo’s farmhouse. Lazlo was less than thrilled by this at first, and actually tried to get rid of CF and MM on multiple occasions. But after a while he caved, and let them stay. Not without a price, though. Money means nothing to Lazlo, he’s perfectly self sustained and fully capable of stealing anything he can’t grow or make himself. So, instead of the kid’s paying him to live in his house, their form of “rent” is helping Lazlo around the house and farm.

When it comes to the more nefarious activities of these Rogues, they don’t actually work together all that often. Their personal goals and methods are just too different to keep a sturdy team dynamic. (Karla and Darius are more than glad to stay away from Lazlo’s whole Human Doll thing.) But this doesn’t mean they won’t work together at all, it just means they only team up for smaller schemes.
