Aubrey recognized the skeptical look on his face. It was one she often saw on other slaves if she spoke about Hawthorn and his position here. “He truly is… He would leave the island, but his sister is here as well… though as a mistress. He protects me and takes care of me… He tries to do the same for the slaves in the cells as best he can given his position…” She trailed off. Why she felt the need to defend Hawthorn to a stranger was beyond her. She just didn’t want anyone to think poorly of him because of his place here on the island. Lollipop licked at the man’s hand, which brought her back to the moment. “I’m better now then I’ve ever been in my whole life, despite being here. I only asked because you looked… I don’t know.. unsure about something.”
So the sister was just as bad. But he didn’t say that either. There was no point. He wasn’t interested in false protests. Everyone had to reckon with their own god in the end. His conscience was not clear. He had lied and used people to his own ends but if nothing else he was honest. “I am pleased you are content here. At least you have the small, almost dog.”

“I won’t forget you” Sibyla promised, still crying. “I care about you, Master Rafael. Very much. I’m sorry I couldn’t be better for you…” she rambled a little before shaking her head and getting back to get feet. “I should go…”
“I am sorry... I did not mean to make you weep. I just wanted to say goodbye.” Rafael replied sadly. “Please do not grieve. I go to rest. It is my time. Long past my time in fact. Take care of yourself Esjay.”

“It’s nice to meet you, too,” Damien said, smiling at the other man. “I’m glad she takes good care of you. That’s always nice for anyone to have,” he chuckled softly. He smiled, and nodded with a smile. “I am, yeah,” he said. “It’s beautiful here, and I find it hard to not find time to just enjoy it and take it all in.”
Rafael nodded, fingering the note gently as he considered the man’s words. “It is nice to take time on such a beautiful day to savor one’s life.” He looked the tattooed male up and down and considered, “Have you been here for very long? Do you have someone to ....” He gestured to the note, “For you?”

Azalea considered the piece of paper for a moment, a pang of an unfamiliar emotion that had been plaguing her more and more recently tugging in the pit of her stomach. Jealousy? Not quite. It was definitely a strain of feeling unfulfilled that she was unaccustomed to, however. “I wonder why she bothers to worry if it’s a non-issue,” She remarked flatly, flipping closed her journal as he neared to retrieve the note. Her musings, unlike his reminder notes apparently, were not meant for prying eyes and she chose to guard them more closely. “Displeased…” Azalea scoffed, rolling her eyes heavenward for a moment, shaking her head. “To be perfectly frank, I’m fucking shocked there aren’t more displeased individuals on this god forsaken island. In fact, that displeases me.” As was her habit she was off on a soap box before she could think to do anything else. His offer, though, managed to catch her off guard enough to stop her ranting in its tracks, “Wait, what? What in God’s green earth makes you think I’d spill my soul to a perfect stranger? Besides, I’ve met many a person claiming to be trusted confidantes who wound up having loose lips.” Despite her words, there was the tiniest nagging inkling in her head telling her he was being genuine. But her constantly over-analyzing mind told her gut instinct to go fuck itself more often than not, and it was that innate sense to guard herself that had her staring at the man as if he’d spontaneously sprouted lobsters from his ears.
“Because she is fond of me ... I do not deserve it but her affection is appreciated.” He traced his thumb over the written words, a smile warming his features. “I thought I would prefer my end to be unremarked and unremembered but she will remember me ... for a while at least.” He sighed and then turned his attention to the woman. “As you wish ... I am sure you will find another suffering from profound brain deterioration and soon to pass that will serve. Hopefully not too many. We are quite awkward after all. Can never find our way home again or ...” he held up the note, “Remember to eat.” He laughed softly and opened his sketchbook again.

It took Dhani a moment to realize what Rafael had meant and he felt the master’s hands at his ass. Dhani smiled and kissed him again sweetly, his plan still in motion though they had stopped for a moment again, to kiss and touch and discuss things.
“Wait…” Dhani teased and slipped his hand into Rafael’s pulling him along a little more urgently down the path he’d set on. The waterfall came into view after a few more paces and Dhani let go of Rafael’s hand to rid himself of the bookbag he constantly carried with him, setting it on the park table. He removed his shirt, the small scars from his run in with Amon visible on his back.
He spoke coyly, mostly wanting Rafael just to say it, but maybe saying it would help him remember it, too.
“You promise you’ll claim me? Promise me you won’t forget?”
Rafael sighed as Dhani delayed him again. Always delays with this one. He thought. Well maybe. He couldn’t quite recall but it felt too common. He paused at the sight of waterfall. It was a lovely place. He never remembered it was here. Well that was no surprise really. He brushed a hand through his hair as he watched Dhani strip off his shirt. He nodded “Que? What ... what is this?” He touched the scars.

A part of Maebh almost felt like she should be scared at the predatory look in Rafael’s eyes, but she was just excited instead.Fighting a grin, she continued to move up the bed until the headboard stopped her movement. When he reached her, Maebh finally lost the battle, grinning at her master before returning his kiss.
He smiled back at her wide grin, enjoying the fact that she enjoyed their intimacies as much as he. Well perhaps not as much. Rafael trailed fingertips over ivory skin to caress the curve of her fine breasts, on which he lavished a great deal of attention. She was tiny, beautiful and fierce ... his little jaguar. He claimed her lips again as he nudged between her thighs, caressing the length of her fine body.

“I could–” Dhani thought maybe he could text her, just casually bring it up or something like remind Rafael to talk to you about the trip, specifically me going, maybe that would be enough of a hint. But Rafael’s lips were on his again with more ferocity and passion Dhani was quiet ready for. He reeled back slightly from the surprise of it, knocking him a little off balance, but leaned in, gripping at Rafael, returning the kiss with equal zeal and moaning softly against his mouth.
Why couldn’t he have said something so much sooner. He could have been woken up with kisses like this for months. Slept in an actual room, had someone hold him in the night, Rafael or Daisy, or maybe even him and Maebh’s relationship would have gone further if they were living together. Dhani never regretted anything more in his life.
Rafael broke the kiss slowly, smiled and then leaned in again. This time the kiss was slow and gentle, a tease really. He teased open his lips, his hands trailing down Dhani’s lithe form to cup his ass. “You have too many ...” He gestured at the bookbag, annoyed he couldn’t get closer to his male.

“Of course,” Matt said with a nod. He smiled lightly at the other man and tilted his head at him curiously. “What are you working on?” he asked, nodding towards the an, assuming the paper was from some sort of project or something.
“Oh ... just some sketches and notes.” He held open the book to reveal disjointed notes and sketches of individual faces of those he had met on the island. Nothing made sense, including the little note admonishing him to recall to eat. “Have we met before? You seem ... familiar?”

Damien was pretty used to people taking a moment to take in his appearance, so he didn’t push the man, when he didn’t say something right away. He smiled as he took the paper, and nodded. “You’re welcome,” he told him. “It looked important, and I didn’t want it’s owner to lose it,” he chuckled. He held out a hand towards the man. “I’m Damien,” he said. “Damien Black. I don’t believe we’ve met.”
“Ah yes. She takes good care of me.” Rafael affirmed with a nod, “It is good to meet you.” He greeted, knowing that he would instantly forget the man’s name. Names were like water, they flowed in and out of his mind and were gone again. “I am Rafael.” He was pleased they had not met before. After all, he scarcely remembered people any longer and he knew that offended people. “Are you enjoying the day?”

“I’ll miss you…” Sibyla told him honestly, working hard and failing to stop her tears. Rafael had been the third man on this island she’d fallen for, and the third to leave her. “Will Maebh be leaving too?..”
“No. She must finish her schooling and I do not wish for her to be alone. No one else will know of or remember me. At least here, until the time they leave. Then I will be forgotten as you all go off to live the remainder of your days.” Rafael replied softly.

“He’s a very kind soul… too good for this island and his position here, but he’s doing his best to help the slaves here as he can,” she replied with a blush. Looking around quickly, Aubrey wanted to make sure that no one was eavesdropping on their conversation. The last thing she wanted to do was put Hawthorn in a bad positions with the administration. When he spoke to Lollipop, she smiled warmly and watched the two of them together. “Thank you… I hope you’re right.” Watching him a little more, she noted that he seemed a little unsure of things and perhaps a little dispirited. “Is everything okay? Did you need help with anything?”
Rafael looked skeptical. He always thought it was a bit of a farce, these masters who pretended to be good and kind who lived here. He was neither good, not overly cruel. Just selfish. He could at least acknowledge this to be a fact. “I am as fine as may be. Thank you for asking. And you? You are well?”

“You want me to move in?” Dhani asked, touching Rafael’s hands with his own. He seemed to need absolute confirmation, he wasn’t entirely sure he wasn’t just dreaming all this. He had before, so many times.
“I think Maebh would be okay with it, I mean, we talked before– Not that I want you to just drop it on her, you know. I wouldn’t mind if you felt you neeed to discuss it with her first. Or I could? I could talk to her about it. Seriously.”
Dhani didn’t want tonight to be something else that just slipped Rafael’s mind.
“Si ... of course.” Rafael replied with gentle touches to Dhani’s pale cheeks. He worried so ... this dear boy. He dusted a kiss over Dhani’s lips again. “I will speak with her. I promise. I will make a note so I do not forget.” He leaned in and claimed Dhani’s lips in a more fierce touch.

Damien was looking through the photos on his digital camera, when he heard a fluttering. He glanced down and scooped up the paper, glancing around to see where it had come from. When he saw the man, he headed over to him and held out his hand towards him. “This yours?” he asked gently, offering the other man a smile.
He stuck his camera back in his bag, a real smile on his face. His thoughts had been full of a certain blonde woman lately, and he at this point in the day, he didn’t think anything could get him down.
Rafael looked over at the other male and was startled by the sheer quantity of the tattoos that littered his skin. Tribal markings in a way but ones that the man selected. He wondered at the story of them. What had inspired it? Then he focused on the small paper. “Ah si ... gracias. I appreciate ...” He tugged the paper out of the other’s hand and slid it into his pocket. He loved the little notes. He knew they were representations of her care, which meant a great deal to him.

Maebh squealed when Rafael picked her up, and on their way to the bedroom, she had a little time to think about how different things were. A while ago she probably would have struggled for him to let her go and blushed as all hell. But she was so used to Rafael and his touch that she just clung to him, giggling when he dropped her on the bed and she bounced softly. Shaking her head at his order, Maebh did what he wanted.
Rafael liked that squeal. It pleased him to know she was his and he had her attention. He followed her onto the bed, a predator moving across the firm mattress as he crawled up and over her. His hands were insistent now, peeling off her clothing as his lips found hers again, kissing her deeply.
