To Skye,
“Despite being your best friend, I could only be the Venus to your Sun,
close enough to see what lurks beneath your golden, warm rejuvenating light,
but blind to the merciless inferno that this light was filtered from.”
Love, Raeth
My best friend loved writing and they were amazing at it. It’s soon gonna be a year since she’s become a glowing star in the sky. I miss him way too much so I decided to collect the shredded pieces of my heart and weave them together into this little piece of writing.

Soulmate AU [Painting with soul energies]
Okay lemme make 3 things very clear: 1) People have multiple soulmates; 2) Soulmates are not predestined, they are made by choice; 3) Soulmates are not only romantic smh.
So, everybody has a core aura (soul) that is of a unique colour and finish, like metallic, iridescent etc. Colour portrays your nature (inherent characteristics) and finish portrays your “nurture” (environmental circumstances). No two people have the same colour and finish (there is a difference all the time, no matter how subtle).
When a person wills somebody to become their soulmate, a part of their soul gets transferred to the other person. A soul is basically life energy, it stays with you as long you’re alive. So you have endless supply of it.
And omg omg even after you die, the soul energy that has already been transferred cannot die. So even after death you continue to live on, in other people.
When you give a part of your soul to somebody it basically merges with their being in a way that resembles painting them with your soul. The colours don’t mix but they make space for each other and complement each other well.
The more soulmates one has, the more they find the courage to be vulnerable, the more rainbow and magical they appear. People are just walking-talking paintings, each one a unique masterpiece.
#soulmate au#I’m a sucker for soulmate aus#there is just something so magical about them#but I’ve always hated that they were always predestined#that’s the main appeal to them I guess#but I wanted to think of a version where people choose their soulmates#like “ I trust you with a piece of my soul please take good care of it”#doesn’t that sound absolutely beautiful?#hehe#byler#caitvi#violyn#korrasami#rinezha

A guide for sleeping in a lecture hall
Make sure whatever work you have started is in a safe space. If not, they will take it and it will never be seen again.
As you feel yourself begin to get tired, be sure to turn the ringer of your phone on. It will be your way out if something goes wrong.
Make a last check around the room. Keep an eye out for things that may seem different or off. Make note of these. If the writing on the board is reversed, do not fall asleep. You must remain awake for the rest of the lecture for your own safety.
Let your body relax and allow yourself to drift off to sleep. Do not be alarmed if something touches you. They are making sure you are fully asleep.
Once you awaken in your dream, stand up and look around. Check to see if any inconsistencies have transferred over to your dream. If so, it is safe to explore. If not, sit back down and remain completely still.
As you examine your surroundings, check your classmates to see if any have fallen into the dream like you have. Those that have not will have no pupils. Make note of these people.
When exploring around the hall and its building, make sure to never enter the stairs or the elevator. If you do so, you will wake up, and everything will be different.
Keep checking your phone to keep track of the time. You do not want to be the last one out when class ends. They will punish you for that.
When the time is nearing for you to awaken, head back to your seat, not making eye contact with anyone else who may be in the hall now. Rest your head on the desk and allow yourself to fall back to reality.
If you awaken to blurry vision, close your eyes immediately. Do not respond to anything, including calls of your name or questions. Wait until it is silent to open your eyes.
If you awaken and everything is clear, you are safe to leave. Make sure to leave a pen or pencil behind as a thank you to your guides. They worked very hard to allow you the brief respite and always appreciate a nice gift.
If, when you are leaving, your teacher asks you to stay behind, do not listen. Walk to the nearest bathroom and run cold water over your hands. The next time you go to class, do not sleep. All should be well after that.
After your rest, never return to your lecture hall at night. Your guides will be asleep and you will be vulnerable.

i dont see why i cant start a trend, so here goes. lets try to build back our attention spans. lets try to focus on just one thing for as long as possible. lets not watch those "asmr for people with adhd" videos where they fuck up adhd folks even worse. lets resist the urge to reach for our phones when watching a movie. lets read the articles we reblog, even when theyre boring. i know its hard, i have adhd too, but its worth it. i also know that this hard work doesnt always seem super impressive to other people, so id love for yall to tell me in the tags or replies if youve done something, no matter how small, for your attention span. you deserve to feel like youve taken back some of what social media has ripped from you

I was thinking about how Cutler Beckett seems to have fallen into the "villain ends up coming off as aroace through writer's attempt to make them unfeeling and cold" archetype in The Price of Freedom. The author may not have intended it, but it did give off the "oh he's so evil he can't even love another person" vibes.
The notion that "love (or specifically, romantic love, more often than not) is what makes us human" is so widespread that it feels like the go-to emphasis for a character's wickedness. It then moves on to strengthen that notion among the populace who consume that media. And someone somewhere now feels bad for something they have no control over, yada yada.
I think this kind of thing happens when you try to define what makes a human with a predetermined set of characteristics. Take the old featherless biped - yes, immediately shut down by a plucked chicken, thank you Diogenes - but also, there are some people out there who prefer walking on all fours, or who have lost a leg, or... the list goes on.
Every time you say "___ is what makes us human!" there will be someone out there thinking Does that make me less than human?
And because the human population is so varied, it's impossible to include everyone ever, but I think what one can do instead is to avoid associating characteristics you consider 'out of the ordinary' with being a bad person.

the idea that restrooms, locker rooms, etc need to be single-sex spaces in order for women to be safe is patriarchy's way of signalling to men & boys that society doesn't expect them to behave themselves around women. it is directly antifeminist. it would be antifeminist even if trans people did not exist. a feminist society would demand that women should be safe in all spaces even when there are men there.
