Heroes & Villains The DC Animated Universe - Paper Cut-Out Portraits and Profiles
Green Arrow
Oliver ‘Ollie’ Queen heralded from a wealthy background. Motivated by the social and economic inequalities he saw around him, Ollie decided to become a masked vigilante who would fight for the ‘little guy.’ An incredibly skilled archer, Ollie developed an arsenal of trick arrows with various functions and dubbed himself the ‘Green Arrow.’ He also took in and trained a younger protégé named Roy Harper, who would be known as Speedy.
Batman had monitored Green Arrow’s activities in Starr City and was impressed not only with his abilities as a crimefighter but also his conscientiousness and empathy. When the Justice League chose to expand its ranks to include many new members, Batman insisted that Green Arrow be recruited onto the team. This expanded Justice League was certain to be an incredible power composed of all manner of incredible beings. Batman wanted someone more like himself, a mere human, mindful and staunchly un-authoritarian, who could help to keep the team grounded.
Green Arrow was initially reluctant to accept Batman’s offer yet ultimately relented and went on to serve as an important member of the League. His voice proved invaluable in guiding the team, helping them stay conscious that their duty was to protect mankind, not govern it.
Actor Kin Shriner provided the voice for Green Arrow with the Emerald Archer first appearing in the first episode of the first season of Justice League Unlimited, ‘Initiation.’
