in the book the greens were a powerhouse, they had the best warrior, the bigger army, great political minds on their side, the bigger dragons and strong competent riders to ride them. they were a threat. the show making them all stupid makes rhaenyra & the rest of tb look so weak and stupid in return. like you can't even win against those guys? really? also it shows how rhaenyra is a poorly written character - it is necessary to ruin other characters like alicent, aegon, daemon and aemond for her to appear smart & capable.

btw the infantilization directed at helaena will always be insane. the whole “she doesn’t love her family” argument was crazy, and so was portraying her as a child who needed to be whisked away. she’s neurodivergent, she is not incapable or unfeeling or unloving. she’s a queen, she’s a dragonrider. like do you not realize how embarrassing and stupid, and quite frankly, ableist that take is?

btw book ser criston became lord commander after ser harrold westerling's death, years before the dance and before he switched allegiances. he'd only been apart it the kingsguard for four years and presumedly was the lowest born member when chosen to fill the post.

instead, the show kept harrold westerling around so they could take what was a great achievement for ser criston and instead frame it as him getting to reap the benefits of the "evil greens stealing the throne"
