another hot take : in the book, alicent upheld the "son inherits over daughter" rule simply because it served her purposes - to remain in power and protect herself and her family. there is nothing in the text to indicate that alicent or any of the greens had anything against women in power and a lot to suggest the opposite. alicent and helaena attended aegon's councils and he listened and respected their opinions. alicent ruled the city after aegon's injury and was very politically involved throughout her time as queen consort and queen mother.
alicent wasn't fighting against women, just like rhaenyra wasn't fighting for them. they both had the same objective - stay in power and protect their children. the path to power for alicent was fighting for her son's claim to the throne on the basis that he is the firstborn son.

it’s not that cersei lannister is actually smarter than alicent hightower (she isn’t) rather that cersei lannister is not burdened by such trivialities as ‘empathy’ or ‘self-awareness’ or ‘the reality of the situation’; the idea that she cannot do something just doesn’t occur to cersei, ever, every societal norm and moral code is a personal inconvenience to her
oh and she is actually for real insane
it all enables cersei to just do shit to a degree that other characters can only marvel at

furthermore, what also angers me about helaena & rhaenyra in s2 is how helaena was traumatised by her half sister AGAIN with rhaenyra inciting the riots! and yet just like with blood & cheese, she isnt allowed to be affected in a way that would hurt team black!
helaena isn't stupid, she would have known that rhae played a part in it somehow and thanks to that helaena herself was almost killed! aka leaving jaehaera without her mother but oh wait i guess only rhaenyras relationships with her children matter

let's face it. i think why a lot of y'all fixate on this idea of alicent "caring about who rhaenyra sleeps with when it's none of her business" is that ultimately rhaenyra being unsympatheic to alicents marital rape is just objectively worse and y'all dont like to examine that

hot take : 18yo book alicent had no parental obligation towards rhaenyra. the fact that she didn't care about her and only loved her own children doesn't make her a villain.
