Hi! If you follow my fic, you might have already noticed that Chapter 6 of Falling doesn’t seem so bad is up! It took a long way for this chapter to come to life but I am quite happy with how it turned out if you want to know how Obi-Wan and Ahsoka are planning to save Anakin and what Obi-Wan actually told Ahsoka about their mission, come and give it a read!
Also, I would really appreciate it if you could take some time and leave a comment about this chapter or the entire work in general, either on ao3 or here, or message me here. I got one (1) comment which I am very grateful but I hope to see some more of your thoughts and feedback regarding the storyline or characters!
Here is a link to the chapter ↓

And in the meantime, if you need more convincing, here is a little sneak-peak ↓
“What about some sparring first?” Obi-Wan offered instead. Moving meditation was Anakin’s way. He would honor him that way. “I can gather my thoughts that way and we can prepare for the battle if it comes to it. You could— you could get used to the feeling of the lightsaber.”
Ahsoka was staring at him for a few seconds, weighing her options. “I guess I won’t hurt,” she finally decided.
There wasn’t much space on the shuttle. It was rather small, with the cockpit, dining area, and some bunks where they were sleeping. They moved the small table between the beds and created some space for their sparing. It wasn’t perfect and big; they had to be mindful of the walls to not damage their ship, but they could work with that. They stood opposite each other. Ahsoka held the hilt of Anakin’s lightsaber with care, winging it in her hands the same as Obi-Wan did in his heart. She turned it on and it came to life with a soft humm, lighting her face in blue.
“It feels heavy,” she said. “Heavier than mine used to be. I think it’s Anakin’s thing.”
“What do you mean?” Obi-Wan asked. He knew Anakin’s lightsaber was heavier than his own, knew about modifications Anakin had done to make it better in combat, and how the council didn’t approve of that as it didn’t approve of most of the things Anakin did. But it never occurred to him that a heavier lightsaber might have been Anakin’s distinguishing feature.
“When Anakin gave my lightsabers back,” Ahsoka started explaining, “they were heavier than when I left the order and they were blue. It was a good change for the fight. I always assumed he did it to mine only but this— this is something different entirely.”
She looked in awe. Obi-Wan wondered how it must feel, to hold your Master’s lightsaber, to fight to bring him back. He used Qui-Gon’s lightsaber to cut Maul in half, but after that, he constructed his lightsaber again. He never got the chance to use it again, not that he wanted it.
“He had his way with lightsabers,” Obi-Wan said. “If it’s too heavy for you, we can find a different option.”
“It’s fine, Master,” she smiled weakly. “It feels like a part of him is again with me.”
She spun the lightsaber in her hand twice. One to feel the weight. One to switch into reverse grip.
“Let’s practice then,” Obi-Wan said and took his lightsaber off his belt. He ignited it and stood in an opening stance for Soresu. It was familiar, it was home. He felt the Force moving through him, yet he was at peace, knowing that there was no danger; there was only a challenge.

Falling doesn’t seem so bad - title breakthrough
As I'm working on chapter 6 (I cannot believe it's chapter 6 already; it feels like I just started writing this), I thought I would share my break through the title of this work.
It was originally inspired by Cavetown's Devil Town with the lyrics from the chorus
Devil Town is colder in the summertime I'll lose my mind at least another thousand times Hold my hand tight, we'll make it another night I still get a little scared of something new But I feel a little safer when I'm with you Falling doesn't feel so bad when I know you've fallen this way too
I mean, if it doesn't scream at least a little bit like Obikin for you then I don't know what will.
So originally, that was supposed to be the title, but for some reason, my mind memorialized the wrong verb in the last line, inserting seem in the place of feel.
That got me thinking about the semantic implications of the different meanings of those two sentences.
Falling doesn’t feel so bad - implies that the person is already falling and it doesn’t feel as bad as they would have thought it would
Falling doesn’t seem so bad - implies that the speaker hasn't fallen yet but the idea of falling is not that scary and somewhat almost tempting
There is, of course, the follow-up of the line When I know you've fallen this way too. In this case, the speaker of the first line is Obi-Wan, and the object in the follow-up is Anakin.
Obi-Wan hasn't fallen yet but Anakin did. As Obi-Wan follows Anakin's journey and discovers all of the reasons for his fall, he becomes more and more convinced that the Dark Side is not that bad. He is also faced with the fact that his love for Anakin is an attachment and stands against the Jedi code, he so strongly believed in. So maybe at the end of the day, falling doesn’t seem so bad for Obi-Wan when Anakin already did fall this way, too, for the somewhat same reason - love.
There is also a case of different meanings of falling. When it comes to falling to the Dark Side, Obi-Wan hasn't done it. When it comes to falling for Anakin, it has already happened. But both of the fallings don’t seem so bad after all.

Falling doesn’t seem so bad - Chapter 5
Tumblr media
Anakin was as beautiful in red as he was in blue. The prophesied balance, the dual nature of the Force. The dual nature of Anakin Skywalker.
Hi!
Chapter 5 has been posted already and you can come and give it a read. It also marks the debut of a character that I adore and I think you will be happy to see her.
I did a little bit of sort of a mood board for it with a title, as I love the imagery of galaxies and the universe used as the description of the Force.

Falling doesn’t seem so bad - Chapter 4
Hi!
Chapter 4 of my obikin fic is up, and it brings some new characters, more action, and Obi-Wan, who welcomes the Dark Side like an old friend, like a lifeline connecting him to Anakin.
And if you need more convincing, here is a small glimpse into the chapter:
The cave was smaller than he would have thought. He could hardly fit there. He heard footsteps behind him and then Anakin walked from around the corner. Obi-Wan gasped. When he walked to the cave, he walked there with intention to seek Force’s guidance, yet he hoped that he would meet Anakin. What was before him was beyond his expectations.
The right side of Anakin’s face looked like it always did. With a scar running through his eye, hair curling on his neck and brilliant blue eyes, full of power. His left side was different. His eye was golden, the testament of the Dark Side running through his very soul and with fire dancing near his skin. The fire that did not seem to burn him, rather it created the shape of Vader’s mask. The being in front of Obi-Wan was a perfect balance between Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader. It was beautiful.
“You shouldn’t have come here, Obi-Wan,” Anakin said.

Falling doesn’t seem so bad - chapter 3 update
Hello!
Chapter 3 of my obikin fic is out and if you haven't read it yet and need something to convince you, here is a glimpse into the chapter:
Obi-Wan cleared his throat, looking back at the city, anywhere to avoid Anakin’s eyes. “The Council has a mission for us, maybe we could talk about it on the way there,” he offered.
“Is it a mission for us, or is it a mission for you, and you need a backup, and I get to tag along?” Anakin asked and he closed his eyes, letting the breeze comb through his hair. Obi-Wan almost caught the sign of the setting sun in Anakin’s eyes, their color reflecting the yellow sky.
“It is meant for us both,” he confirmed. “And even if it was meant only for me, I wouldn’t dare to go without you. We’re a team.”
“You mean it?”
“I will never leave you alone, Anakin,” Obi-Wan promised.
As the sun set, enclosing the planet in the darkness, Anakin opened his eyes to look straight at Obi-Wan’s soul. He looked hurt as if he knew that Obi-Wan would fail to keep his promise. Then he smiled, and whispered, “Thank you for reminding me of that,” and Obi-Wan knew that his fate was sealed.
And he knew he was falling.

Hi!
I come to you with obikin fic!
Summary:
After rescuing Leia and confrontation with Darth Vader, Obi-Wan asked the Force the question he always wanted to know the answer to: why? Why did Anakin have to fall? What he had missed? Why did he have to fight his brother? What could he have done to help him?
The Force in its grace, or cruelty, shows him. After all, all living things are connected in the Force, past, present, and future, and it knows all about it.
Additional notes:
If you like descending into character's minds and feelings, this is a fic for you. We follow Obi-Wan who experiences all that made Anakin fall to the dark side. With metaphors, galactic imagery, and Anakin as the stars, ghosts, and dragons.
I hope you will enjoy and share your thoughts!
