no lie i genuinely believe brands are so behind the pleather movement bc they can just buy cheap plastic sell it as expensive 'vegan leather' and be ready for you to return in a couple years to buy another 'vegan peeta approved™ leather jacket' bc they last like 5 minutes compared to the way leather lasts decades all the while you can pat yourself and coorporate's back for being sutainable all the while pvc (what some fake leather products are made of) has been labeled the single most environmentally damaging type of plastic and while there are non pvc fake leathers such as pu leather... its not like thats much better producing plastic pollutes and the second your pleather clothes start to breakdown (which happens much faster than you think) theyll wound up on landfills for at least a 100 years...

some reasons i think rabbits are the superior meat animal to keep (at least for my lifestyle)
1. space: i live in an apartment, i don’t have a backyard. i am able to keep rabbits, and grow some limited crop for them with the space i have
2. indefinite meat source: unlike meat chickens, rabbits can breed without human intervention. and i can keep them sustained mainly with the crops i grow if something were to happen to my supply of rabbit pellets
3. less wasteful than poultry: i can utilize all of the rabbit. make lucky rabbits feet, process the hides for crafting, process most of the bones for specimens, and organs go to my cats. meanwhile i don’t think id make as much use of the body of poultry birds.
4. the meat is healthier: less calories than chicken and less cholesterol than most other consumed meat
5. i can take pride in knowing that the animal i am eating was treated with dignity in life and in death: which i guess is true for most animals that aren’t factory farmed but still a benefit!!

Lacto-Fermented Cream Soda
Tumblr media
This recipe will give you all the delicious vanilla cream flavor and carbonation without all the sugar and additives. Plus it’s got probiotics, so it’s great for your gut health.
Ingredients
2 Quarts lukewarm water
1/2 Cup ginger bug (see recipe here)
1 1/2 Cups raw sugar
3-4 Tbsp pure vanilla extract
Instructions
Add the sugar to the water until fully dissolved. Add the ginger bug (strain out the ginger) and vanilla extract and stir until uniform. Let ferment in a glass vessel covered with cheese cloth for a few days, and then bottle it in round swing top bottles (like those used for kombucha) and burp the bottles every day to release any pressure. The probiotics will consume the sugar and produce carbonation in a few days. The result will be a delicious vanilla soda. Once enough carbonation builds up, it’s ready to enjoy!
Notes: If you’re using tap water for this recipe and your water is chlorinated, let the water sit out for a few hours so the chlorine can evaporate off. Do not use hot water or it will kill the probiotics in the ginger bug. The microbes are happiest between 65°F and 85°F. If your kitchen is on the cold side, fermentation will take longer.
