HAVING HIS PERSONAL SPACE INVADED WAS NOT ANTICIPATED, especially not when the angel tore him from his standing place - right into an awkward half - hug. it was his way of celebration, showing that he was eager to see him after such a horrific outcome of the battle. his wounds had healed up, he was able to walk around without a limp anymore. though, the last person that he expected any reconciliation from was LUCIFER himself. the man who had shown him up at the scene of the incident, saving the day. doing what he should have been able to, if not for his inability to use his FULL STRENGTH. the smile remains plastered on his face as he's pulled into the smaller's side. this wouldn't shake him enough to wipe the smirk off of his lips. if anything, he would think that it was done with the intentions of trying to make him uncomfortable. then again, most would agree that the angel had a strange way of showing his affection for others. he tended to have a loud mouth, not knowing when to stop; jittering at the thought of having something in common with someone. he'd seen it in action before. this was nothing new.

❝ YES, YES, charmed to see you as well. without a scratch on you, surprising. ❞ he chides, pulling his arm out from between the two of them. placing it awkwardly on top of the angel's shoulder. his fingertips brushing the fabrics of his coat. stiff, at best. but, ALASTOR was making his own attempts at returning the hug.

❝ OH, DARLING, you are so full of worry. ❞ brushing the topic off as adamantly as possible. he wishes not to focus on the fact that someone managed to get a scratch on him; truly an embarrassing outcome ! CARELESS, in the worst of ways. he always was one for underestimating his opponents, to the point where it was detrimental to his own health. not because he truly thought that everyone was powerless, the opposite - he didn't know the bounds of his own strength. so many years at the top of the food chain would make anyone feel invincible. seven years passing, stronger demons had risen to the top. he wasn't with the times.

holding his wrist out limply, he feigned no injury at all. ❝ insistence will get you everywhere in life, i suppose. do what you must, i won't stop you. ❞ he finds some comfort in the fact that this is arackniss, someone who he has allowed to touch him before. it doesn't make the wounds any less of a hindrance; a blow to his pride, at the very least. but, he can stomach the touch of someone that he has deemed good enough for his person.

❝ DO YOU NOT HAVE ENOUGH WORK TO BE DOING ? ❞ he lounges back in her office chair, CUPID'S HANDS buried in his hair. she is fixated on his ears, of all the things to be stuck on. it's not the first time, but he will try to deflect the topic. bringing her back to the pile of paperwork on her desk. all of them, requests: to be denied or accepted. it seemed that her business had been BOOMING since his last broadcast; not that he will brag about the sheer star power that he has.

plucking one off the top of the stack, he flicks the paper out with a swivel of the wrist. letting it crack against the air. ❝ BELINDA, age of death: twenty - seven. wants her ex - husband to see the appeal in her again. now, that isn't a tall order for someone like you. ❞ kicking one leg over the other, the chair rocks with his weight. squeaking pathetically on it's hinges, her office could use an update with all the new income.

❝ . . . tch. ❞ the sound comes like the crack of a whip. breaking the silence between the two of them. it would seem that HUSKER'S COMMENT had left him speechless, but that was far from the truth. he had a slew of insults that he was cooking up behind slit eyes. narrowing his gaze, he searches for a look of hesitation in the demon's eyes. the feeling that what he had just said was out of line. ALASTOR has seen him reel back on his comments in the past, recognizing that he had brought unnecessary punishment onto himself by saying outlandish remarks. for the moment, he was displaying more patience than he had in the past, but it wasn't for the sake of being kind to his captive. he had struck a nerve. that was what was keeping him so silent.

everyone knew of ALASTOR'S DISAPPEARANCE, at least - that was how ALASTOR SAW IT. he was too full of himself to believe that no one would have taken notice of his lack of presence in the hellish scene. hiding for several years hadn't done anything good for his reputation. most wanted a good explanation for it, of those whose opinions mattered most: he wouldn't give them one.

❝ you think that you're a wise one, don't you? ❞ laughter drips from his words, though he's not entirely sure what he finds so hilarious about it. PERHAPS, he has crossed past the line of being offended, straight to humiliated. it would have been so easy to pull the chain around HUSKER'S NECK tight, dragging him straight to the ground - & yet, that wouldn't have made him feel any better in the moment. he craved verbal retribution. ❝ you should learn the art, it would have saved you a lot of grief. though, i do appreciate having your soul under my heel. so, i suppose, our different tactics compliment each other well. wouldn't you say? ❞ his fingers twitch at the air, the temptation of pulling his face across the floor is ever - growing.
