Need to talk about a thing, because it’s on my mind.

The muns don’t know everything their muse does. Don’t assume they do. If a muse is doing something considered stupid for their intelligence or skillset, then it’s likely an error on the mun’s behalf. Either help the mun learn the correct way to handle a situation, or pretend that it’s correct, especially when the information is being delivered as if it should be correct. It’s roleplay, guys. We’re not all nobles, or scientists, or geniuses.

I had a character who held a coronation for a ball when he became emperor, and every decision I made for that social event, which involved a lot of people and was a big roleplay event, was scrutinized and deemed poor execution–from my muse. My muse has been working with royalty his entire life, studying history, learning how to be that man, he knows his shit. But you know what? I don’t. I don’t know how guards work, or how politics work, or that a masquerade is a bad idea for a coronation ball. I was just trying to organize a fun event.

Because my muse was treated as an idiot, because every aspect of the event was called into question, decisionmaking was deemed as him being an idiot…

That plot was a year ago, and I’ve never held an event like that since. Typically, bullshitting to sound smart through an explanation of something that no one really cares about for the sake of how a conversation would realistically go with characters much smarter than you are is fine, but I’ve had my muses called into question enough times that I’m uncomfortable RPing their interests onscreen.

I never RP my emperor on duty in the palace. I have an insanely intelligent and talented mechanic, i’m talking tony stark levels of technology, but I’m uncomfortable rping him talking about his livelihood in my own server, because I know people are going to question something when it doesn’t make full sense, and treat him as a fool IC instead of either going with it or pointing out OOC that something else would have sounded smarter.

I just want to RP guys, let me enjoy my characters, quit taking things away from me. i shouldn’t be afraid to rp my characters. i shouldn’t be afraid to draw them either, but that’s a different can of worms that i’m probably going to yell about.

And, before I forget, because it’s related.

I’m forgetful. I’m dealing with an actual memory crisis that I need to see a doctor for. If my muse does something that we’ve discussed is going to start dramatic shit, without warning you like “hey i’m going to spring that plot on you today”, especially after we agreed that my character would NOT forget and would NOT do that, then do NOT react IC with everything going to fucking hell. Pull me aside and inform me that I was a dumbass, or at least ask me what the fuck I’m doing (Guarantee the answer is “I have no idea”) and I will redact whatever it was that my character did, because I can guaran-fucking-tee you I’m not going to be in a headspace where I can handle an angsty dramatic plot for a long ass time, ESPECIALLY when it was NOT planned to happen that way.

one of the things i love thinking about wrt troll culture is like the culture surrounding horns

because everyone’s got them so there’s gotta be some general norms about what’s acceptable and what’s not, different levels of general care, social cues you can take from them, etc

like a broken horn can maybe indicate a couple different stereotypes - that that individual is potentially dangerous/does dangerous things, or is weak/clumsy/vulnerable, which is kind of determined from other context clues like body type and apparent confidence/conduct. or like, someone with no horns, that’s generally regarded as kind of weird or maybe suspicious because either they both got broken/removed somehow (likely traumatic) or the troll chose to remove their horns themselves, in which case, why? horns are very unique and a highly identifying characteristic, so that’s usually kind of a big decision.

there’s probably some kind of cosmetic culture surrounding the care of them too like there’s a whole drugstore section for it and you can get wax or polish to protect them/make them shiny/enhance the color and masks to strengthen brittle horns, or you can probably go to shops like salons and get them cared for and get the rough edges smoothed (and maybe hair salons also offer those same services??), and there are less mainstream places that do horn carving and painting and piercing and offer all sorts of jewelry. the appearance and apparent care of someone’s horns speaks a lot to their lifestyle and general quality of life, the same way someone’s hands or shoes might. different decorative styles may be popular in different areas, too. 

and then it’s almost always rude for someone you don’t know to touch your horns but not even in an offensive way, more like in a ‘what the fuck buddy’ way like if someone touches your hair. it’s kind of frowned upon to pull on anyone’s horns for any reason, like that’s a pretty pitch-coded action (especially if you’re just doing it out of nowhere) unless it’s very gentle with someone you’re close with. otherwise horn touching is very affectionate and intimate because either it can be care-oriented, or i imagine just super relaxing massaging around the base (especially cuz some of them can be big and heavy).

A Theory on Moiraillegiance

It’s already been stated that Eridan and Nepeta wear their moirails colors

Eridan’s rings (back when he and fef were moirails)

and nepeta’s hat, tail and shoes

Now the question is why? Why do these two wear their partners colors, while Feferi and Equius do not? What Nepeta and Eridan have in common is both Eridan and Nepeta are lower on the Hemo-spectrum than Equius and Feferi.

Here is my theory. The moirail with lower blood will wear the highblood’s color, not out of devotion, but for protection.

We all know Alternia is a pretty violent place, and there is no consequence for a highblood killing a lowblood. We also know that moiraillegiance serves as a means for soothing and controlling highbloods who would otherwise be dangerous. AND we know that moirails can be extremely vengeful when their parnter is killed.

So in order to prevent accidentally killing a highblood’s moirail and setting them off on a murderous rampage, the lowblood wears the highblood’s color to show they are “taken”. 

Eridan doesnt wear as much pink. He is a seadweller, and immune to most hemo-spectrum related killings. However, his moirail is the Heiress, and pretty damn important, so it thus marks his importance as her moirail. It also warns his potential killer that they have the wrath of the heiress on them if they were to actually kill him.

Nepeta on the other hand, wears a whole lot of blue. Since she is practically a lowblood, she needs to make it pretty clear that she’s under the protection of a blue-blood.

So basically, wearing your moirail’s color is a warning sign. Equius and Feferi allow Eridan and Nepeta to wear their blood colors as a “bitch step off this is mine” sign to people who might want to hurt them.
