Saw an adorable stinky kitty today! It was very small, like 3-month-old kitten size, so I'm not totally sure what it was doing wandering around on its own, but look how cute!! Did not get particularly close but admired from a safe distance.

Not a living organism today, but very cool! I was in the path of the totality but clouds meant that I couldn't get any pictures of that part...it just got super dark, which was still neat!

Went on a hike today and saw tons of beautiful plants and animals! For now though, I'll highlight some flowers. In order, we have False Dayflower (Tinantia anomala), something I haven't gotten an ID on yet, Snapdragon Vine (Maurandya antirrhiniflora), Drummond's Rain Lily (Zephyranthes drummondii), and some type of onion (Allium).

Saw this beautiful and also angry killdeer nesting in the landscaping of a random office park. She was not happy that I was walking past her nest!

Birds be upon ye!
Great Backyard Bird Count 2024 was a success! I even found some birds I hadn't seen before, like the Ladder-backed Woodpecker and the Double Breasted Cormorant!

The Muscovy ducklings are nearly grown up! They and their momma came over to see me while I was trying to get pictures of some ring-necked ducks(?) on the pond.

i think these egyptian geese believe they have taken in an adolescent goose, but this is a fully grown whistling duck. normally the egyptian geese chase away all other birds, but this duck is allowed to follow them and hang out closely in between them and when they flew away the duck went with them. this is so funny to me. they dont tolerate other birds near them but this is their little buddy now. this is a new development, too. it wasnt like this on friday

When your sibling gets their car stuck in the mud and you're waiting around for someone to come back with a cable it makes great time for roadside plant photos!
