My favorite thing about The Magnus Archives is when they just Make Shit Up about historical figures. Like fuck it, Robert Smirke was an occultist. Wilfred Owen was a war god. Edmond Halley is still alive and he’s trying to extinguish the sun.

happy pride month to them

NOTE: in a few weeks im gonna have my bachelor's degree!! in the meantime, i've been doing some comms work and i somehow ended up speedrunning painting this piece lol. decided that the flats looked better than a shaded version, so here we are. im esp proud of ayda's hair in this one

Baking requires fairly precise timing. On the ship one day Caduceus puts four attempted cupcakes into a small clay oven, finds Caleb, and taps him on the top of the head.

"Twenty minutes," Caduceus says calmly, then sits down and starts checking on the beetles in his staff. Caleb looks at him, confused, before going back to his books.

Exactly twenty minutes later, Caleb's head pops up.

"Twenty minutes," he says.

Caduceus nods his thanks before putting his staff down and walking out the door. It's only three minutes later he returns holding a plate with four cupcake-shaped baked goods when Caleb realizes what just happened.

Ayda is stood behind her, upper half fully bent to look at her paramour upside down, face inches away from Figs. Her flame hair curls down, fiery wings stretch up out of frame, and phoenix legs are securely standing on either side of Fig. Her golden tattoos glow on her forearms. She is wearing loose fitting white sweatpants, a purple sash tied around her waist, and a teal-green bomber jacket over a non-visible 'Fig and the Cig Figs' band t-shirt. Ayda looks at Fig with unabashed affection, openly smiling and blushing away.

The second image is the same as the first, but missing all colour and just the line art. The third image is a shitty-drawn doodle of Kermit the Frog, arms up with a dumb little smile.
