Lily Hoshikawa (星川リリィ) - Transgender* from the Zombieland Saga anime series
In the eight episode of the 2018 anime series Zombieland Saga, the young undead girl Lily is talking with Sakura about her life before her death. She explains that she was born with a boy’s name and died from the shock of looking more like a boy as she entered puberty upon seeing hair growing on her chin.
When Lily’s story is told to the rest of the zombie girls, they ask their guardian Kotaro if he knew about Lily being assigned male at birth, which he confirms that he did. Despite this, the zombie girls agree that regardless of Lily’s genitalia or birth name, she’s still one of the girls, much to her delight.
“Ah, who cares! Doesn’t matter what kinda junk she’s got.” -Saki Nikaido
“I’m still Lily, and that’s who I’m always going to be.” -Lily Hoshikawa
*Transgender people are individuals who at birth was forcibly assigned a gender that doesn’t match who they truly are. Some transgender people realize they’ve been treated as the wrong gender early on in their lives while others realize it later. Transgender people may or may not have surgery or medicated treatments to feel more at home with their true gender depending on their preferences and/or life situations.

Haruhi Suzumiya (涼宮ハルヒ) - Pansexual* from the Haruhi Suzumiya light novel series
In the 2003 light novel The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya by author Nagaru Tanigawa (谷川 流), the quirky high school girl Haruhi is talking to the main character, Kyon, about the boredom of every day life and relationships. When describing her ideal partner, she goes on to state she wants someone that’s not an ordinary human, but that their gender doesn’t matter to her.
“(...) as long as they aren't an ordinary human, it doesn’t matter if they’re male or female.” -Haruhi Suzumiya
*Pansexuality denotes sexual attraction to all genders. It’s often mistaken for bisexuality, which it shares traits with. This does not mean a pansexual person is sexually attracted to everyone, just that someone's gender doesn't prevent sexual attraction to be built.

A Certain Queer Index
Welcome to this, as of now not finished, tumblr blog! This is a blog devoted to listing characters from fiction with gender and/or sexuality minority status along with a source to cement it as canon. There will be no headcanons, anything posted will be done so with a clear description of when said character was coded as said minority and a defeinition of what that minority entails, for those unaware.
