So on a bit of a whim, with a few people I work with, we created The Game Awards for Games Who Can't Afford the Game Awards.
Or TGAGWCAGA for short.
It's pretty much exploded over the past week on Bluesky where a lot of indie developers have made their home.
We asked indie games to nominate themselves, whether they had released this year or whether they were an upcoming game that couldn't afford to pay for the advertising space at the Game Awards.
Geoff Keighley said that Gamescom's Opening Night Light were going to be charging as much as $480,000 for ad spaces during next year's showcase.
That's simply not remotely affordable for thousands of studios.
So while it's a bit of a parody, we also hope it'll shine some light on great indie games, and our form is of course written in Comic Sans.

Listen to me. Look into my eyes. If gothic romance sounds at all appealing to you, you SHOULD be listening to Blackbriar.
They do this very soft gothic symphonic metal, they're wonderful live, and their vocalist honestly has an insane voice. The most consistent themes in their music are love, music, and flowers, and they have a lot of songs inspired by folklore, myths, fairytales or classical literature!
My favorite songs of theirs must be Cicada, We Make Mist and Deadly Diminuendo, and they released their new single Floriography today!!!

This is a result of the inhumane decisions that members of this administration want you to be silent about in public for fear of a loss of “civility”.

Since we keep getting "live action" CGI remakes of already perfectly adequate animated movies, and because people need to understand that animation is a medium and not a genre, I have prepared this primer about the importance of Visual Language for Conveying Information.
Can you tell what the personalities of these two mice are?
Can you tell now?
Which of these two tigers feels safer to be around?
Which of these three dogs is the funniest one?
If you can answer these questions, then you already have experience with the idea of visual language and stylistic choices being used to impart narrative meaning. If you can understand why these choices were made to impart meaning, then you can understand why animation is a medium for telling stories that has its own inherent value, and is not merely a "placeholder" for the eventual implementation of photorealistic presentation (aka "Live Action" CGI). Animation does not need to be "corrected" or "legitimized" by remaking it into the most representational simulation of observable reality.

I feel like this is an unpopular opinion, but more people should read incomplete/unfinished/in-progress fanfics.
I've noticed this huge trend where creators on tiktok and tumblr who will be explaining how to use Archive Of Our Own to new users and they always say "and make sure to scroll down and click completed only" or how people will go out of their way to mention they only read completed fics 'because they were traumatized when they forgot to check the dates and didn't realize this fic hadn't been updated since 2012'.
The thing is - I think by not engaging with and/or actively avoiding writer's WIPs readers are potentially adding to the aggregate of abandoned works. Now this obviously isn't the case for all abandoned fics, anything from major life events, to loss of interest, to getting busy can be a reason for a fic getting abandoned - but at least on some level I just know that writers are quitting while they're ahead when they aren't garnering any response or feedback because reading WIPs has become unpopular. If you're worried about reading something that hasn't been updated since 2012 then you can use the date updated function to sort out old fics.
Anyways, support your favorite fanfic writers by engaging with their WIPs.

This is why I permanently switched to leggings. I have a pretty weird shaped body and often rely on belts to make clothes fit me but now? It's impossible. I miss clothes from 2015-2018.
You know what absolutely sucks about the recent drop in clothing quality? Nothing comes with belt loops anymore.
I've tried six different shops in the last two days, trying to find pants for my wife who is doing a manual job and needs black pants for work and everything is either drawstring waist or jeans.
That's not gonna cut it! Ordinary pants with belt loops used to be the norm! Now I'm gonna have to sit at my sewing machine and try to figure out if bias tape will do a decent job of holding up pants that ARE MORE EXPENSIVE WITH LESS FEATURES THAN THEY USED TO HAVE!
