It took a few seconds to register what she had said. He listened and nodded as she spoke. “Queenie, You need to see a doctor or a nurse. You have to for the sake of your health.” He walked over to her and held her in his arms like she was about to shatter into pieces. “ Can you change into your animal form?” He asked and looked down at her. “ We can make it better. But you need to see someone. There is a nurse called Clara, she could check you over and maybe help in some way. I could speak to some witches that may know how to help.”
Queenie pulled away and picked up her laptop and placed it on the bar and showed Nick the page she had been reading. “ There is no cure, Whatever I look like now. I will always look like this,” She said and put her hands to her chest and then bit her lip and looked at Nick. “ Look at me. Who would want to be with me now I’m not even me.” She looked at the screen and read out the symptoms followed by the diagnosis. “ glamour glitches are incredibly rare, painfully to endure but once the transformation has taken place there is no cure.”

Nick had finally started getting more social and today’s venture was to the lounge. He had only just walked through the door when there was a clatter. He looked up and saw her. A woman he had never seen before in tears. “ Please don’t cry. All messes can be tidied.” He walked closer, wondering is she was afraid of him, but there was something, familiar about her. Nick stepped closer and then gave her a gentle smile. “ Tell me what’s wrong.”
Of all people she needed in the world right now, he was top of the list, “Nick.. I am so glad you are here. Its me.. Queenie. I had a virus and it changed me and I cant change back and I don’t know what to do and I’m so frightened.” She blurted out and looked up at him. “ The blonde unicorn you mated with. It was me. You let me go but i came to you because you respected me. You said you owe me, well i’m calling in the chip. Please help me.”

Queenie held his hand and he smiled more broadly, laughing a little as she spoke of her worry that no one would sleep with her. He knew he shouldn’t have and shook hie had, apologetically. “I’m sorry, but are you kidding? I mean it, you’re dead gorgeous!”
He took his tea, letting it cool as she sat next to him, nudging his shoulder. They had just met. Literally moments ago and already he felt relaxed with her. Like they were already friends somehow. Funny.
“I would really like that too, Queenie. So, it’s decided, we’ll be friends.” Dhani grinned, and her assessment of humans and unicorns was rather true. Especially to Dhani, who loved fantasy books and movies, who was in the middle of crafting his own fantasy novel himself. He’d have to put a unicorn in it. He’d been meaning to, but hadn’t found the right place.
“I think it’s a perfect thing to say. My parents were big hippies, so I feel that.” Dhani chuckled, then sipped at his tea. “And you’re right. We have to remember to take stock of the good little things. Especially here. I’ve been trying really hard to do that lately. Make a very conscious effort. And today is turning out really good. I had a really nice walk out to here. Made a brand new friend who is beautiful and caring and makes good tea.”
“Well I’m glad I helped in someway.” Queenie said and smiled at Dhani. “Tell you what, we should make a pact right now, that anytime one of us feels sad or lonely or lost, we just send a text saying lets have tea.” She said and lifted her cup. “ We can call it the rebels tea party and anyone else who is alone or sad can come too.”
“My parents were Swiss. we lived in the hills with all the goats and wolves.” She said and then sighed. “ But like most rare creatures. We were hunted for our blood and our coat and our hair and our horns.” She sighed and then looked at him.” I guess human’s would call it hunting to extinction.”
“ Your parents sound awesome. I am a hippie at heart but I’m also old school. I love making cushions while listening to Jimi Hendrix. I also like collecting buttons. Like regular buttons from coats or jackets. And surfing is one of my favourite things,” She gushed. “ Whats your hobbies?” She asked and held her tea close to her “And where are you from?”

“But I’m so pissed off at everything.” He snapped. “ I should have known better, I should have seen what was coming.” He replied and took the drink.” I just dont know what to do.” He choked. “And the people who I thought were my friends… I can’t be near because half of me wants to drop to my knees and say sorry and the other half wants to kick the living shit out of them for making me feel so…” He took a breath. “ Right now, being here is just what I need. I cant be near people Queenie.”
“ Max stop, it wasn't your fault. You cant hide in here forever. Everyone is feeling the same crazy feelings you are and if they are not then they fucking should be.” She looked at his phone. “ How about this. Text Nick. He is one of your best friends. He will be ok. I promise, Its bigger in your head then it is in really life.” She stroked his arm. “ I’m sure May will accept your apology, she is such a nice girl from what you have told me. With Theo, He was your rental over Christmas but he isn't anymore. How about a new year’s resolution. The rentals are just for sex. This is a big building and there are a hell of a lot of rentals. New Year, clean slate. I think Natalie is the one you need by your side more then any other person on this island. I have never in my life seen someone so dedicated to you, I’m almost jealous.” She smiled and hugged him from behind. “ Come on Professor Wagner. I believe in you.”

“You’re welcome,” Max said kindly and then pulled his hand away when she asked what happened. He walked to his desk and sat down. “ I had a spell put on me and this side of me came out. I was a jerk and I didn’t care about anything.” The floodgates opened and Max started to explain every detail. When he was done he looked up at her with pained eyes. “When I came into the office today, the first thing I wanted to do was apologise to everyone. So I text Alexis.” He pulled out his phone and showed her the messages. “ I think Theo won’t acknowledge me and I just can’t look at him without thinking of what he did. Nick is hiding away somewhere and I am terrified I have lost him as a friend, I can’t even think about how to apologise to May. Queenie… I’m the evil I tried so hard to hide.” He said and his voice cracked. “All I wanted to do was say I was sorry and I dont know how. I bottle things up and I don’t know how to fix this.”
Queenie’s eyes widened as he spoke of the previous nights events she covered her mouth to hide the shock, Only to remove it to look at the phone. “ You were trying to say sorry to her.” She whispered as she connected the dots. The sound of his voice cracking cause her to look up and see him in emotional pain. “ Hey.. come on Max, everyone knows that wasn’t you. You were under a spell, they all were. It doesn’t mean they hate you.” She looked at phone and frowned and looked up at him. “ If this wasn't happening to you right now and was happening to someone else, what would your advice be?” She asked as she got up and poured him another drink. “ My father once said if you cant say your sorry then you can show it in other ways, So make a list right now and lets find a way to fix this together. And you are not evil. Look at the people who still think you are awesome. Libby likes you and Natalie is so loyal to you and then there’s me and from what i know of Nick, he probably loved that. Hiding in your office wont eradicate the pain Max. reach out and try and build a bridge. If they don’t want to build the other side then it shows what they are like and you don’t need that in your life.”

“Well, You know me. Honest as the sky.” He replied then almost choked on his whiskey. “ I am into women and men and fae and vampires and dragons and unicorns and more.” Max smiled and looked at her over his glass. “ You are gorgeous and I would sleep with you, I know a few other guys who would as well.” He placed his drink down and put his hand on her leg. “ Look at me Queenie. You are beautiful and unique and perfect in your own way. Hell, you are a unicorn. You have one power none of the fucking other species have. You are noble and pure and kind and hopeful and good. And right now, on this island, we all need you to help us through the chaos and shit we caused last year, So never feel unwanted and never feel like you shouldn't be here because without you we would all be lost.”
Listening to Max caused Queenie to glance up at him. “ Thank you Max. I really needed to hear that right now. I felt so lost and since I’m new, I hardly know anyone so I came to you because I knew you would say something to help me understand myself.” She took another sip and looked at Max. “ Since we are having a heart to heart... What’s going on with you?” She placed her hand on his and looked up at him. “ What happened the other night? I wont judge or tell anyone. I just think you should let someone help the same way you help others.”

The woman’s voice was new, but her heartbeat still sounded the same. He turned and looked at her. She was beautiful. “ No. Stay, I’m sorry, take a seat.” He sat down and poured them both a shot of whiskey. “ Here. You and I both fucking need it.” Max slid the drink to her and then got up and sat on the edge of the desk and looked at her. “ If you want my honest opinion… I like the old you.” He said and sipped the whiskey. “ But I love this you so much more. You look your age, you look like a professor and your beautiful face matches your beautiful heart.”
“Wow.. I wasn't expecting that but thank you.” Queenie said and took a sip of whiskey. “ Can I ask you something personal?” She asked swirling her drink. “If you were into women, would you sleep with me now I look like this?” She asked and then sighed. “ I’m just nervous no one will want me.”

“You don’t have anything to be sorry for.” Dhani spoke gently and shrugged his bag off, placing it next to her laptop and walked to the bar with her as she made tea for them. He sat on a stool, letting her work, letting her busy herself and be helpful and useful. It’s why he didn’t offer to help or do it for her. It was a lot to take in, what had happened to her. He vaguely remembered a similar situation when he was young. When mom was diagnosed with cancer she cleaned the house top to bottom. Dad had argued with her. They actually shouted at one another. And after mom died, Dad made every excuse to be busy. He didn’t want Dhani to see how sad he was. But Dhani rarely saw him when he needed his dad the most. People coped in their own ways.
“I kind of get it.” Dhani said sympathetically. “When I was a kid I woke up one morning, earlier than normal, and I could hear my mom just crying her eyes out. She had cancer and she had decided to cut her hair short because, you know, the radiation was going to make it fall out anyway. She always had long blonde hair, she’d always cut it herself anyway. But there was a difference seeing her with short hair and watching her loose it all. I didn’t really understand the significance of it, especially for a woman, I was eight at the time. I thought she maybe just thought she looked ugly. So I told her she was still beautiful to me.”
Dhani smiled and took a breath, tears coming to his own eyes for a moment. He shook his head, “I know it’s not much, but you’re still beautiful, whatever you looked like before. And you’re still you where it counts.” He paused, “Oh. Gosh, I’m Dhani. It’s nice to meet you. I’m just human. We had a unicorn here before, his name was Ever. He was a good friend. He’s left now.” Another breath, smiling a little more.
“I would love some tea.”
Queenie placed her hand on his when he mentioned his past She rubbed it when he felt emotional and just listened to him, Queenie had learnt at an early age that sometimes, just to be there and listen was all that people needed. It made her sadness pale in comparison and she smiled when he finished. “ People tend to say things like that when they see a unicorn, you humans have a little love affair with the idea of unicorns, I think its because we remind you of all the happiness and good in the world and we always love to hug”. She let out a small laugh then blushed. “ That’s very kind of you. I’m just afraid in this visage that no one will want to sleep with me.” She said sadly and then handed him a tea.
After walking back to where he was seated, she perched on a stool and nudged him with a shoulder. “If its ok with you, I would like to be a good friend to you too.” Queen said quietly and sipped her tea and then hummed contently. “Tea is awesome. it seems to warm your heart.” She said and looked at her cup. “Sometimes its the little things that count in the world. Like tea.” Queenie said and laughed. “ That was such a hippy thing to say.”

♥- Something you like about their muse.
She is hope personified.
Queenie is the kindest sweetest, most selfless person I have had the pleasure to come to meet. When you are at your lowest ebb, having someone like that there to remind you that there is good in the world, is something that should be cherished.

“No, it’s cool. I think you’re laptop is okay…” Dhani bent down to pick up her laptop for her, checking it over. There was a superficial small crack on the side, bit it was just the plastic. Nothing a well placed sticker wouldn’t fix if she wanted to cover it up.
“Nothing major.” Dhani spoke with a small smile to her, despite his own perhaps concerning visage, a bruised cut near his eyebrow and other fading bruises on his body, easily seen as he was only wearing sneakers and boxers. He had his school bag with him and his long hair tied back, his beard trimmed close. He set the laptop on the table and rummaged in his back, taking out a small packet of tissues, taking one out and handing it to her. He hadn’t met her before, locked away in his master’s house for the last three weeks, Dhani had missed quiet a bit.
“Rough New Year’s?”
Queenie looked at the man who spoke and swallowed thickly, then nodded. “ I woke up..” She took a breath and then continued. “ I woke up with a new face. I mean I’m not human and I have a glamour spell, but then I had some freak virus in the night and now I’m... well I‘m what you see.” She said and wiped her eyes with her sleeve. “I’m sorry I’m just a little overwhelmed.” She took the tissue and smiled. “ That’s really kind of you, thank you.” She said as small smile broke through.
“My name is Queenie, I teach environmental studies. I’m just a regular save the world kind of unicorn.” She shrugged, trying to make a lighthearted joke in the midst of her misery. “Don’t worry I’m not a nasty mistress, part of my DNA as a unicorn is to be noble and pure.” She said and looked at him. “ Are you ok? Would you like some tea? my parents used to say tea helps with shock.” She walked over to the bar, a little shakily and then made some tea. “ I’m sorry for burdening you with my troubles. Its just a shock to my system.”

Queenie had known the Glamour spell had be glitching out for a while. She had thought about going to medical rooms, but felt they would turn her away as it wasn't an emergency. Then last night things turned bad. After the party she headed home as usual and then climbed into bed. A fever like no other hit her and she laid in bed whimpering and writhing in agony. Thinking it was just a virus she drank water and took painkillers and even had cool shower. Eventually around four am, she fell asleep. When she woke she felt fine, in fact she felt stronger. But looking in the mirror things were not what she had expected. She was totally different. Queenie stared at herself and tried to stay calm. She got dressed and then headed to the main building with her laptop. She sat in the lounge and googled her symptoms and then felt tears prick her eyes as she read two words. No. Cure. Queenie got up and let her laptop slip to the floor with a loud thud and then she saw someone. “ I.. I’m sorry If I..” She was trying to apologise for making a noise but the words stayed lodged in her throat. Tears fell and Queenie felt lost. She just needed one person to tell her she was ok.

Queenie thought she would find Andy here. She knew he would probably not recognise her so she approached carefully. “ Hi... So. There was a spell and it broke and now This is me the new Queenie. “ She bit her lip and looked at him. “ If you want to be alone I can go.”

Anderson was horrified about everything that happened at the Ball. He could die of embarrassment from all the things he said or people he slept with. But didn’t mean he wasn’t going to smile and act like he was fine. He walked around the school before deciding to draw by the waterfall
Sketching was one of his passion that he never told anyone about really. It was a great escape for him and that was exactly what he needed right now. To clear his head. He was getting lost in his drawing when he saw a shadow over his paper. “ Hello.” He said without looking up.

“ Hi Max, I just wanted to show you my new face. The last glamour spell went array and now I’m like this.” Queenie always went to Max when things seemed to go wrong, He had a father like quality about him which was reassuring. “ I can come back if you are busy.” She stopped. “ Max, are you ok?”
Max stared out of his office window, he had tried everything to get his head together. He was angry, at himself and at others. He just wanted to rewind time or find a spell to forget it all. He sipped his blood infused coffee and heard the sound of footsteps and a heartbeat. “What can I do for you?” He asked looking out the window.

Nick saw her and bit his lip. The last time they had been near each other, he had held her down and had sex with her in the forest, even now standing next to her, he remembered her panting and moaning underneath him. Now she was acting like it wasn’t a big deal. “ Umm.. Hello. I’m not really a fan of parties. Too many people. There can be fights. Not really my scene.” He replied and stood awkwardly. “Would you like a drink?” He asked after a brief silence.
Nick. Of course. The one who had made her his. In the animal kingdom that was. She forced a smile and nodded, “Should I get it?” She asked knowing that she had to respect a centaur. She caught his eye and the memories came flooding back. His lips all over her body, her clothes torn off and the noises they both made like it was race to win. But more then anything it was the size of him. Tall, broad and those eyes. She blushed when she remembered the way he pushed into her, it felt like he was going to split her in half. Thick, long and big. He must have been packing 10 inches at least and he thrusts were hard, No wonder he never really went to the slaves. His form of punishment was to have sex with them. Realising she must have drifted off she blushed, He was her stud now and rules were rules. “Drinks.” She beamed and raced off to get them.
New Years Eve.
