ANIDALA WEEK 2018

day 3: role reversal au

→ jedi padmé and senator anakin

when padawan amidala and her master obi-wan kenobi are sent to tatooine to intervene in a slave revolt, she finds herself drawn to the revolt’s leader, 19-year-old anakin skywalker. with the jedi’s help, the former slaves succeed in overthrowing the hutts, and tatooine is incorporated into the republic. anakin is elected its first senate representative almost unanimously, and though he has no interest in politics, he accepts the position in hopes of helping his people.

a few years later, a disillusioned senator skywalker has discovered that the corrupt republic is not the beacon of hope and democracy he once thought it was. to make matters worse, he is facing assassination attempts from angry allies of the hutts. the senate assigns him jedi protection, and it turns out to be none other than padmé. she accompanies him to the safe, peaceful planet of naboo, the homeworld she was taken from as a baby. reunited for the first time in several years and all alone on a beautiful planet, sparks begin to fly between them…
