The patient took the water with stiff fingers, lifting it to his lips and letting it run down his throat. Yes, he had definitely been in here for a while, but upon hearing the number of days he had been in this hospital the water caught in his throat; a sputtering cough made his unsuspecting lungs ache. He placed the thin paper cup down on the side table hastily, clutching his sides as he went into a coughing fit. His body seemed to have trouble adjusting to being in use, especially after sixty two days. He swallowed thickly, his face painted a splotchy red in a mixture of pain and embarrassment. Apologies left his mouth clumsily, the words blending into each other, "I'm s-sorry, sorry... I just didn't expect for me... for that long..."
Yixing reached again for the cup of water, drinking the remainder of it. He wet his lips, hearing out the other's short story about how he was found. The details were fuzzy, but he could recall the darkness of that night and the sharp pain. He gnawed at his bottom lip, "Thank you for finding me. I'm sure I'd be in worse condition if you hadn't called for help, so I'm eternally grateful."
He let out a soft sigh, "As for my family, I don't exactly have one. I mean, of course I have one but we kind of lost contact," Yixing began to pick at the skin of his fingers, "I'm kind of a loner here, as much as I hate to admit." He stifled another cough, "Ah yeah, I'm actually a bit hungry. Think the nurses would let you take me down to the cafeteria? I think I should move around after my hibernation..."

"Zhang Yixing," he breathed quietly. He knew the other’s name but it was nice to hear him finally introduce himself properly. It was more than nice, actually - it was wonderful. A smile appeared on the younger’s face within seconds but as he heard Yixing’s dry voice, his face wore a worried expression. Quickly he stood and grabbed the man a cup of a water. "Here, drink this."
"You wouldn’t know me .. we never really met. And you’ve been here for sixty-two days now." After taking a seat down next to the young man, Tao sighed quietly. How to even begin to explain this? He didn’t want to scare the other but then again what choice he did have? But then again he hadn’t been active in two months so maybe knowing wouldn’t be such a problem. He deserved to know anyways. "I’m not a creep or anything, I found you two months ago on the ground on the corner of fifth avenue. I don’t know exactly what happened to you but you looked really bad, beaten up. I called the police and stayed with you all the way to the hospital. I didn’t know you slipped into a coma back at the alley, I thought you were just knocked out .. "
"I’m sorry I don’t know who did this to you. And I tried, I honestly tried to call your family but the hospital wouldn’t let me have their numbers. Nor did they have any numbers listed for you. They don’t have much on you, apparently." Making a face, he crossed his legs. "But I did keep you company. I came here every day. The nurses thought I was your boyfriend for the longest time," he laughed softly before looking back over at the man. "Sorry, I’m talking too much. Can I do anything for you? Are you hungry? Their jello isn’t bad here."

Yixing noticed the sleepy look in her eyes and didn't hesitate to dim the lights down using the knob attached to the hospital bed. Once the lights were adjusted to keep their eyes relaxed, he uncapped the pen with his mouth, keeping the cap between his teeth as he began to recreate the Chinese character in his mind. With deliberately slow movements, he swept the tip of the pen against the thin paper. With each stroke, he watched as the familiar character formed. He hummed as he wrote, singing a soft Chinese lullaby, hoping to draw his friend to sleep. When he finished, he rewrote the word "friend" but now in Korean, so Lizzy could read it. He drew his attention to her again, "Good?"

"Silly, you already come to my house everyday and play with my puzzles," he teased, poking his index finger into her soft cheek. He let out a soft giggle, his eyes shrinking as he did so. He reached over to the table next to the hospital bed and grabbed the paper and pen, wincing slightly at the stiffness of his limbs. He tried to minimize the amount of pain he expressed, not wanting Lizzy to worry. He shot her a small smile, his dimple showing again, "Hey, want me to show you some Chinese characters?"

Yixing's face contorted into an expression of confusion, "Of course I would come, why wouldn't I?" Although he hadn't known Kris for a while, he still considered him a bit of an acquaintance. Given his personality, Yixing would always come when asked to. Plus, he didn't have any plans these days, so he was free nearly all the time, much to his embarrassment.
He swallowed lightly, picking up on the awkward silence. Perhaps he shouldn't have come. He gave a small bow before ducking his head and stalking towards the general direction Kris pointed out. He was greeted with a hallway of various doors and, not being the best with directions, picked the first doorway he could find. He turned the knob and walked inside of it, quickly noticing it wasn't a bathroom. Still, curiosity got the best of the qilin and he flipped the light switch on. His eyes grew wide when his eyes landed on a multitude of photographs. He stepped closer, studying the picture in front of him before realizing that one of the people photographed was Kris.
» wash away || yixing&kris
Kris was walking into the room while he was texting on his iPhone. He notice a presence in the room. the feeling was familiar yet slightly foreign. Kris looked up and blinked. To his surprise, It was him. He couldn’t remember how long has it been since that last time they saw each other. Kris remembered that they didn’t really talked much, but wasn’t a bad conversation. “Yixing..” He paused for a minute. “No, everything was alright. I didn’t really think you would come after I messaged you.”
Another awkward silence. Kris tilted his head a little with an arched brow. “Wash..up?” He nodded and pointed at the direction of the bathroom. “Sure, it is over there.”

Yixing nodded, placing his own hand over hers. He squeezed gently, an action he often did to reassure her before he could communicate in a language they both could understand. He gave a small shrug of his shoulder, "That's true, but sometimes staying home with their umma could be boring. Sometimes they'd rather go out and spend time with their fish friends, even if it's cold outside."
He wasn't quite talking about the fish anymore, his statements now metaphors for his own feelings. He tapped his finger against the clear tube attached to his arm, blowing up his cheeks with air, "Do you think I'll be able to leave this place soon? I don't like it in here. Hospitals are... scary."

The walls were painted a pure white, the color bright enough to blind someone, especially someone who had just woken up. There were clear tubes hung around like Christmas lights around the patient, and there was a steady, loud beeping. Yixing sighed, squeezing his eyes shut before opening them over and over again. How good it felt to blink; it felt as if everything in his body were stuck like the joints of a robot that hadn't been oiled. He moved his cold fingers, touching them to the faint bruises painting his forearm. That's right, he had nearly forgotten what happened. It happened so recently, he could still feel the larger men grabbing and throwing him as if he were a rag doll, a simple plaything. How long had it been? How many hours had he been asleep? His last memory was at night, but when he glanced out the window, it was bright outside. Had he been here overnight?
The sound of the door clicking shut was almost drowned out by the beeping of the machine. Slowly he turned his head and when he expected pain from the past attack, he only felt the stiffness of his muscles. He must have been out longer than he originally thought.
He gave this man a quick once over, taking in everything from the bleached blonde hair to the dark eyes and to the lean figure. He smelled faintly of washing soap and coffee; and although the brain often linked certain scents to memories, no matter how hard Yixing tried, he couldn't recall this man. He furrowed his brows, feeling guilty for not remembering him. "I'm Zhang Yixing," he croaked, throat dry. He cleared it but his words still scratched at his throat, "I'm sorry I can't remember you... but c-could you tell me how long I've been in here?"
Miracles ; Yixing & Tao
Bland. It’s the only adjective he could use perfectly to describe the coffee in this freaking hospital - Seoul Central. His eyes practically rolls every time he pressed the button on the instant coffee machine in the cafeteria. He really should start bringing his own coffee in but he also knew if he did that, he would have to go through a million questions from the front desk, and no. Bland coffee it is. With a sigh, he took the elevator up to the fourth floor, a floor he familiarized himself with and stepped onto the tiled floor. His feet carried him back to room 405 and quietly Tao opened the door. Luckily there weren’t any nurses around - they’re like leeches, always wanting something from him. Their current thing lately has been asking Tao if him and Yixing are lovers. The blonde rubbed the bridge of his nose in annoyance as the memory, thankfully, passed.
Zhang Yixing.
That’s who the nurses are attending to and well bothering Tao with a million questions about. If only he could answer them maybe the ladies wouldn’t bother him so much about it. The younger took a seat down next to the stranger he’s been watching over for the pass few weeks with a frown. Who is Zhang Yixing? The women weren’t the only ones curious of the stranger who’s been in a coma for two months. Tao leaned back in his chair with a sigh. “I’m sorry I couldn’t get there in time.” It’s a sentence he repeated often when he came to visit the other, unsure what else to say. Had he only … He shook his head before taking a sip of his coffee, nearing spitting it out. “Just be glad you don’t have to drink this.”
After a few minutes of silence passed, he reached out and gently squeezed the other man’s hand. “It’s been 62 days, Yixing, can’t you please wake up? I feel so bad that I can’t contact your family and well the hospital won’t let me look at your file since I’m not related.” He made a face, disappointed that he honestly can’t do a thing for the man. If he had only left the party a little earlier like he wanted to .. Shaking off the feeling, Tao went to pull his hand away when he felt something cold hold him back. He looked down at the hands in surprise, watching the once frozen hand lightly gripping his own. The emotions overflow, causing him to be speechless. It took him a moment or so before yelling for the nurses and doctors until somebody showed up. He squeezed the other’s hand back as the nurses gathered around, checking his IV and checking other statuses until he was eventually pushed out of the room.
A few hours later he was allowed back into the room, and left alone with the stranger after the doctors and nurses were done asking him a few questions. Stepping inside, Tao chewed his bottom lip and closed the door, looking at the man. For the longest time this man was nothing but a stranger who couldn’t talk but all of a sudden he’s blinking his eyes and moving his fingers - he’s alive and it sort of freaked the younger out. But nonetheless Tao took a couple of steps towards the bed. “If you can’t remember me it’s fine. Don’t be upset if you can’t, I wasn’t important in your life.” Taking a seat next to Yixing, he tried to hold back a smile, he really did but to see him alive .. it brought joy to the blonde’s heart. ”I’m Huang Zitao, it’s nice to finally meet you.”

Yixing felt his lip twitch upward in a knowing smile but managed to keep his expression fixed in one of awe. He stared at her wide-eyed, lips parted in mock surprise that seemed near perfect. He pursed his lips, tilting his head backward in a slight nod, "Oh... wouldn't the ice freeze though? The other fish might get cold!"
He stretched his short arms again, allowing his friend to answer. Occasionally he would amuse Lizzy and let her "teach" him new things about animals or TV shows, basically anything that she had some knowledge on. His mother always told him to be humble, so often of times he would stop himself from expressing his somewhat advanced intellect and let her show off.

I dreamed of her face again. I don't know why I'm like this. I don't deserve to feel so heartbroken when I was the one who packed up my things and left her behind.

"Lizzy please don't blame yourself, it's not your fault," he took her gloves and slipped them onto his fingers. He gave a small sigh, "We can still go to the aquarium, not now though. It's too cold, the fish will freeze!"
He touched her tangled hair, starting to unknot the dark locks, "Everything is okay, look, I'm fine." To prove it, he withdrew his hands and pulled the corner of his lips upward, revealing a face that would always make her laugh. He didn't want Lizzy to feel guilty, that was the last thing that Yixing wanted for his friend.

{` he listens with a raised brow as she struggles momentarily for words, eyes widening when she reaches out and grabs his cheeks. He lets a squeal pass through his lips, caught off guard. When she pulls away, he rubs his cheeks, laughing lightly } Ah no, it's alright. I'd do the same but I wouldn't want to mark your pretty face. {` pokes his tongue out of the corner of his mouth, dimple showing again } That's right, twenty years of China, two years and counting of Korea. And, may I ask, who it reminds you of?
*your laugh is somewhat contagious and she finds the corners of her lips lifting up and stretching into a grin* You’re so adorable! What would ever stop me from wanting to voice it out loud? You’re so…*she can’t put into words what’s going on in her head, so she just squeals and grabs your cheeks in her thumbs and forefingers, pinching before coyly pulling back and shoving her hands into her back pockets* Sorry about that…*her eyes glue down to the cement underneath her and she kicks at it with the toes of her feet, another heat creeping up her cheeks* A little bit of both, but your accent was what really got me. It’s endearing, really, and it reminds me of someone else’s. Would it be safe for me to assume you’re from China?

{` his cheeks mirror her's, turning a light shade of pink that's all too noticeable against his fair skin; he lets out a laugh and waves his hands dismissively } I'm sorry I didn't mean {` he laughs again, still embarrassed } I don't mean to make you shy, you're just... very beautiful I couldn't help but feel surprised that you would compliment me. {` tilts his head to the side at her words } Ah, so you noticed. What gave it away, the foreign name or my poor Korean?
*the rough, along with the too smooth, edges of your Korean makes her release a fond sound close to a giggle, her own hand flying up to her lips and the pad of a single finger tracing her the lower tier, the subtle pink in her cheeks growing a bit darker than intended* You’re gonna make me all…shy! *her voice is a bit more of a perk in it now and she tilts her head to the side for a moment, making sure to carefully choose her words with a bubbling fear of offending you if the wrong ones come out of her mouth* Are you…not from around here? Korea, I mean.
