Dee, 19. The profile picture is a painting of my OC from Sophomore year, mainly because I lost another picture of another OC. Looking for writing friends, and also to talk about WIPs!

I am trying to plot my first book since, like, 2015 or so and I forgot how hard plotting is and how fucking indecisive I am. And how much of the story I genuinely do not know right off. Like I have a section of plot points and then nothing for like 75 pages. Does anyone have any tips? I feel like I am going to scream.

Hey, writers!
Don't write books. Write stories. Fall in love with the characters. Worldbuild - or don't. Go crazy in whatever way you want to. This is your world, and no one can tell you how to run it.
Above all, write what you love.

Writing check!
If you see this, how is your writing going today?? How has it been for you this week? What’s your story about? Has it changed any since you first started writing it?

Not-so-new Writeblr
So! With my URL change and name change, I thought I might as well do a new intro just to get out there because, well, I need some new blogs to follow and I’ve changed a LOT since I started.
Hi! I’m Ewomazino. Yeah, mouthful isn’t it? It’s Isokan, a little Nigerian tribe located in the delta state. So please, feel free to shorten it – I go by Zino, mainly, but other nicknames also used by family are; Ei, Azi, Mazi and Ino. So honestly, take your pick!
I love making aesthetics, I RP a whole lot more now than I used to because, turns out, it’s really fun! I tend more towards just, random scenes of writing and nailing a plot down later.
I mainly write historical fiction – both fantasy and leaning more towards realism. But I enjoy basically every genre, and generally, have way too many WIP ideas going on in my brain at once. My main WIPs right now are-
1) Strings – based in a mashup of noir and the aesthetic of 1920s America, Strings is based in the town of San Libertas; a haven for crime, but a shining beacon of industrial advantage. Warren Caulfield – a detective with a penchant for trouble, becomes tangled in a game of cat-and-mouse with Mercutio, second-born son of the infamous mafioso clan, the Genovese. A protagonist/antagonist relationship – questionable and unhealthy? Most likely, but feelings are difficult, especially when you’re constantly trying to outmanoeuvre each other. Flirty rivals, moral greyness and, well, shamelessly self-indulgent detective x crime boss.
2) Inbetween the Pines – an excerpt can be found HERE. A mysterious town in the middle of nowhere, questions to be asked at every turn, and strange happenings at every corner. The town of Larkscrest holds secrets for those who wish to look deeper. A little anthology series/guidebook to a town on the edge of nowhere.
3) Eye of the Storm – Started as a thought experiment about the pirate republic surviving. And here we are. Fantasy? Oh most definitely – follows the crew of the De Vliegende Hollander (more commonly known as the Flying Dutchman) – a crew almost entirely mythical. And their attempts to keep their lives and their freedom when the rumours that the tide jewels - items that give their wielder mastery of the seas themselves - have emerged begin to swirl again. Swashbuckling, heists, adventure and rivals-to-found-family.
-
So anyway!
I’m looking for WIPs of any genre, really!
- LGBT+ friendly! Polyamory too!
- Anything to do with Norse mythology will have my heart!
- I generally love fantasy, especially if it’s urban!
- tbh I’m just down to make some more writer friends! <3 Hit me up for my discord, or message me @scribe-the-write-thing-memes which is my main (I also follow from it).

Plotting and Planning
I literally am so bad at coming up with things that happens in the books I write. I have written two full-length drafts--the first between 4th and 6th grade, the other in three or four months when I was in 8th grade--and, like nothing happens in either draft. It’s just a lot of characters doing things that don’t make sense just to hit big plot points--the only kind I can come up with, truly.
It feels so nice to be able to sit down rework things for a bigger series that I have thought about since I was in 8th grade (that second book I wrote), and another one that I came up with in 11th grade. I’m making slow progress on the ideas and stories, but when things start fitting together... I get so giddy.
Honestly, what a nice feeling.

Honestly, nothing feels better than trying to work through the plot of a book you’ve been trying to plot for forever (I am not the best at coming up with plot tbh) and a bunch of things finally fall into place.

Literally THE most useful thing you can learn as a writer is how to pitch a story
A good pitch can turn strangers into readers—who might then become fans

A Few Tips All Writers Should Remember:
·Write to your comfort level. Meaning: give yourself a break when you need it and push yourself when you’re feeling motivated.
·Seek out sources of motivation. There are very few times when motivation hits me out of nowhere. Read a good book. Watch a good movie. Write down your goals.
·Find your space. Coffee shop. Library. Your room with the music blasting and the TV playing your favorite show. Find whatever gets you in the right headspace.
·Your first draft is just the first draft. Too many writers stress out about the first draft and they forget it’s just the first step in completing your novel. You can add to it, build from it, or toss it away completely.
·You will be rejected. Even if you write the next big hit, you’ll be rejected. Read the reviews for some of your favorite books—I guarantee someone HATED it. Not everyone will like your work, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad.
·Write advice isn’t for everyone. There’s no one-size-fits-all plan for writers. Pick and choose advice that works for you, ignore what doesn’t. Not everything will relate directly to you and your style of writing.
·It’s okay to stay in. Want a night to yourself so you can write? Don’t be afraid to cancel your plans and focus on your writing hobby. You don’t have to feel guilty about wanting to work on your writing.
·Let ideas settle. It’s tempting to jump right in to a new writing idea, but let things settle for a bit. Brainstorm. See what comes next. An idea needs to have legs and it needs to take your story somewhere. Let it grow.
·Outlines aren’t set in stone. Be flexible with your outlines. Plan if you need to, but allow yourself to explore new ideas. Let your story go in an unexpected direction.
-Kris Noel

If I could give my younger self any advice it would be that my performance as a Cracker Barrel, American Eagle, and Game Stop employee played absolutely no role in my destiny and my bosses didn't deserve me to be so anxious about whether or not they were covered when they surprised me third shift and I could've just said no and gone out with my friends and gotten fired a full extra month before I quit with no notice and it wouldn't have mattered

THE FIVE SENSES
Genre: YA / Fantasy
Themes: definition of soul, depression, survival, peace and war
Status: first draft
Synopsis: Imagine your senses were directly tied to your soul and a few were gifted with the power to control it…
Ilona has lost everything in her life. Her life in the forests, her family, her best friend, her right leg, and as if that wasn’t bad enough, she accidentally turned the boy she loves into a soulless zombie. With the help of Phillis, who is gifted with sight, she tried to find the way back to her clan. How she ends up trying to bring down the new man on the throne, known as Spieler? Well, she meets Keith who has some very compelling arguments. And besides, why not try to save the world, when she has nothing else left to live for? Together they try to stay alive, for the gifted ones are hunted by the crown’s soldiers, as finding a gifted one of each clan turns out to be much harder than they thought it would be.
Senses:
Touch – Free Will
Sight – Memories
Hearing – Thoughts
Taste – Appearance
Smell – Feelings
Characters:
Ilona, 17, gifted with touch. Ilona would have loved to live a simple life and find the courage to confess her love to her childhood friend Jonas. After her life gets turned upside down, she must face the reality that not only the world has turned dark, but her own soul too.
Jonas, 19, shield of Ilona. His only life goal was to protect Ilona, which he managed. Just that he had to pay that success with his soul.
Phillis, 19, gifted with sight. Phillis really just wants to stay alive. Seriously. At some point he even understands that he has to do something so the crown stops to hunt him down.
Keith, 21, gifted with hearing. There are two things that always belong to Keith and that is his guitar and his dog Schnee. Hearing other peoples thoughts could leave you insane, and considering that he wants to bring down Spieler, his sanity is up to debate.
Cassandra, 15, gifted with touch. Someone has to be the realist, which is why Cassandra knows that she has to join Keith in his quest to do something about the crown.
Emilia, 34, gifted with smell. Belonging to a clan that barely even exists, she doesn’t have the best motivation to join the other gifted ones. But after getting to know those kids, she has to see that it wouldn’t be fair to let them try on their own.
Links: The novel is based on this short story, which functions as a very, very rough outline, even if it merely covers the exposition and ending. | chibis | first line | last line
