the definitions of oaths versus vows versus promises is variable within the godspousing community so I'm not going to delineate any of that and just use oath as a catch-all
oaths aren't inherently part of godspousing however, when marriage or life-time partnership is considered, oaths generally become a thing.
oaths can be broken or made null and void, both in flesh and blood world and in godspousing
it may cause hurt feelings, it may not. y'all may separate amicably.
it may have zero consequences other than your personal life suffering a little bit. it may have massive consequences that you will be forced to contend with for years, or your lifetime.
really depends on the context of the oath and how or why you broke it, and whether the god/spirit in question is vindictive
if you vowed your soul to them after death, and you break up, nullifying that promise may be difficult. It's all different for every person and partnership.
but... that's exactly how irl marriages work. divorce has consequences even if it's mutually agreed upon. financial, social, etc.
it's the same for godspousing. you can break oaths, you can divorce, you can part ways. consequences always happen.
that shouldn't stop you from making oaths/vows, but it has to be considered.
#the notion that divorce is impossible in divine relationships is the worst take ive seen on this website#godspouse
