Kun olet kuunnellut tarinan loppuun, sinun ei tarvitse kelata. Riittää, kun käännät kasetin.

Kela on vähän kun muinaissatujen keijut
- kommunikoi VAIN arvoituksilla
- sä tiedät mikä Kela on, mutta tiedätkö sä oikeesti mikä Kela on?
- sanoita toiveesi JUST oikein tai saat odottamattoman lopputuloksen

A selection of my favourite pictures from the book Suomalainen Perinnekuvasto that I happened to find at a thrift store last summer. It’s a collection of nearly 2000 folk photographs from Finland from the late 1800s to the 1950s:
Aune Hyvärinen and Kerttu Heinonen, summer 1924. This picture was taken near my grandparents home and according to my granddad one of the girls was his teacher. One of the few photos from my hometown in the book.
Anna Tervonen, a cupper, 1920s. I just like this photo. Today Finland is know for great public health care, but a hundred years ago if you were sick you might have asked an old lady to stab you and suck the bad blood out with horns. Good times.
Tanhu folk dancers of a sobriety society from Kurikka, South-Western Finland, 1919. All of the dancers are girls, some of them dressed in traditional mens clothing. Just gals being pals I guess.
A bride from the 1920s sporting the traditional bridal crown, helykruunu. The crown weighed so much the brides neck could ache for weeks after the wedding.
More brides with their crowns, cause just look at them. The crown tradition comes from Western Finland and goes back to the 1600s and I say we bring it back.
Don’t tell me Finland is historically white. This folk musician called Janne (lets not use the full name given in the picture) lived and toured in Eastern Finland in the early 1900s. I’ve tried to find more information but this photo seems to be the only mention of him. If anyone knows more about him, please tell me.
And my favourite, the description reads: ”Prohibition has ended 5.4.1932, and the first customer in Iisalmi admires the legal purchase.” If your partner doesn’t look at you the way this man looks at his drink, they don’t love you.

Finnish genetics will never not make me laugh (images from google, can’t find the sources since these were saved on my computer a long time ago)
first when they’re compared to other Europeans (the closer the colours are the more similarities they have)
you could almost say Finns have personal space in their DNA
and my all time favourite
People from Germany and Great Britain are more closely related than Finns from west and Finns from East
because seriously why would you want to go to the other side of the country in the East you’ll be close to Russia and in the West there are people who speak Swedish
SWEDISH
eww
here’s another one (x)
Helsinki is in the South coast and Kuusamo is up north close to Russian border
Also see how our Estonian bros are reaching for Helsinki genes like “brooo we’re here” and Sweden well Sweden looks like a tiny dick just like on the map and it’s clearly taking a piss on Helsinki
and here’s one with a map of Europe too
Britain knows nothing about splendid isolation
I mean seriously Finns are the adopted alien cousin in family of Europe
