I'm still incredibly bothered by the fact that Boston threw Jillian Dempsey back down to the reserves in order to bring up a player who in 6 games has contributed 0 points, a -1 on the ice, a bad face off percentage, 9 penalty minutes, and a game suspension.

Since there's no game today, I figured I'd post some new/updated charts for funsies <3

I finally cleaned up the penalty data to standardize the pens so they were categorized/counted correctly, resulting in the following chart showing the 11 most common penalties across the league this season. This shows the count of penalties, not the number of PIMs, but I do have that one created if anyone's interested.

I also went through the rulebook and categorized each penalty based on which section of the rulebook it's described in, and broke down the total penalties based on that. As you can see, restraining infractions are by far the most common, followed by physical and then stick infractions. If you want to see exactly which penalties are in each category, check out the full spreadsheet on my website here.

last but not least, here's a vis of team penalties broken out by category. Toronto's the greatest offender of stick infractions, Ottawa has the greatest number of restraining infractions, Montreal with the most physical infractions, NY/Montreal tied for other infractions, and Montreal has the most misconducts (by number, not PIMS).

someday I'll figure out how to get these exported from google and uploaded to tumblr in a way that doesn't demolish their quality, but for now this is what I've got lol.
