Wow I can’t believe they added a character named Puyon to Puyo Puyo

I felt like making Puyo portraits of my OC, Puyon… who is not a Puyo OC, so I imagine she’d have a weird time in the world of Puyo

I rebuilt the overlay from scratch since I couldn’t find any elements for the text boxes.

My flagship OC and user namesake, Puyon, whose namesake originated from the Puyo Puyo series… drawn in the modern Puyo Puyo style!

The modern Puyo Puyo style is incredible in its simplicity. The lines are clean and angular, and it compliments the shapes of the characters perfectly. …which is why I’ve put off trying to imitate the art style for so long. But I’m very pleased with how this came out!

I am currently staying at the Goldenrod Inn. The first day has been a bust. Many people were quick to call me ‘insane’, which I understand but find rude nonetheless.

Whether it was in jest or not is lost on me, but someone suggested I go to Peachlily Village to recruit the man who is “stronger than an Ursaring”.

I wonder what it took to earn such a reputation…? I suppose I’ll find out tomorrow.

When I arrived in Peachlily, I asked the townsfolk who in their village was stronger than an Ursaring. They directed me to the “Denboku” family residence. The man I was searching for was seated outside with his children.

I approached him and asked if he was stronger than an Ursaring. The children giggled as their father put down his tea and stood up. I followed him to his yard, and upon my approach, he held his arms out imposingly and stared right into me.

I tried to clarify that I wasn’t challenging him, but asking if he could work with me. He simply said that if I lacked the courage to tackle him, then I wasn’t someone worth working with.

So I did as he requested, and I charged at him with my best battle cry.

Seconds later, I was being hurtled through the air.

As 2023 comes to its end…

Hey everyone!! Sorry I’ve been absent. My entire focus has been on working on my pieces for @hisuizine !! I loved how my pieces turned out, and I think you’re in for a treat when it’s ready for preorders! Lots of wonderful hands and minds on this project. They’ve been spotlighting their contributors for awhile and I think you should give everyone there a look see!

As for my own personal works… well… I plan on dropping a certain chapter this week. But. Promise me you’ll all still love me if I drop 20,000+ words in one go

Promise me you’ll still love me when I drop 7 OCs, trying to showcase my homegrown blorbos while also constantly reminding myself that this is still an overarching story about Cyllene

A small handful of other OCs get name dropped as well, some of whom actually tie into my zine piece… I’ve had a lot of fun, but I’ve also been under a lot of stress!! I just hope I turn out something that y’all like as much as I do!

Preview 2: Captain’s Cowardice/Captain’s Courage; Chapter 4

Rei stood in a dark room, reaching already for another Pokéball. From the capsule, emerged the ever reliable Figgy the Rotom. It spread its glowing electrical wings from its bulb-like body, casting a gentle blue touch of light on the messy surroundings of Laventon’s office.

The sound of a porcelain like clatter alerted Rei and Figgy, trying to discern the source of the sound. The clinking noise floated around them ominously as they turned around wildly.

“SCREEEEEEEECH!!”

Rei recoiled as the high pitched sound pierced through his ears, unsettling every inch of his skin. He covered his ears and knelt to the ground reflexively. Rotom momentarily dissipated its form due to the unpleasant sensation.

“Now, now…” the quiet voice of a woman captured Rei’s attention. “That’s quite enough, Lavvy.”

Rei squeezed his eyes shut as the light of the room returned to normal. The ceiling gaslights were apparently on despite the blanket of shadows.

As he opened his eyes, he saw a teacup floating in front of him, spinning energetically like a top, before hovering towards the couch.

Emerging from the yellow comforter was a black mass of hair, frills, and cloth. She turned her head towards Rei. Her eyes were vacant and haunting with heavy black circles underneath. The ghostly porcelain white skin of her face was dotted with a few moles. She stood up from her position on the couch and held out her hand.

“We have to play nice, now, my friend…” She said to the teacup. Rei recognized her accent as the same as Laventon’s, though her cadence was far more monotone.

“W-who are you…?” Akari stammered from the doorway. “Don’t tell me… you’re…”

“A witch?!” Rei yelped as he hopped to his feet. Chestnut and Figgy rushed to his side, ready to defend. “A-and that teacup! Y-you just called it Lavvy, did you— did you turn Professor Laventon into a teacup?!?!” He cried.

The woman stared back, expression unchanging. She tilted her head slightly. “Huh. It’s been awhile since someone called me a witch. I suppose that’s what happens when you travel where people don’t know your reputation…” she yawned loudly. “This is Lavender. My Sinistea. It’s a Pokémon.”

Akari stepped forward. “…you’re Professor Allium from the Galar Region, right?”

The ghostly woman nodded with a faint smile. “Pardon my intrusion. My boat arrived in the wee hours of morning. I didn’t want to wait until sunrise to come aground, so I came to town and…” her head tilted heavily to the side as she sighed.

“Nobody except some guards were awake. One of them told me to wait in the Galaxy Hall and… I found this couch and…” the Sinistea rested itself on the tabletop of the kotatsu. “My little friend… it gets really protective of me when I sleep. Sorry for the trouble.”

Rei stared at Allium for a solid few seconds before sighing and flopping on the ground by the kotatsu. “Okay, problem over, I sleep.” Chestnut was fast to drape itself over Rei’s body, eager for a nap.

Allium looked towards Akari. “…where’s Faris?”

Rei lifted his head slightly. “Who’s Faris?”

“Rei, are you… are you serious…?” Akari stared at her fellow surveyor appalled before chuckling a bit. She took a seat near the kotatsu as well. “You’ve lived here for like… almost a year and you never learned what Professor Laventon’s first name is?”

Rei was quiet for a moment. “Actually, his first name is ‘Professor’, which is to say I’ve been on a first name basis with him since day one,” he replied dryly. “Hope that clears things up.”

“You’re ridiculous!” Akari laughed. “You never thought to ask…??”

“Everyone else around here uses their first name with their title,” he shot back quickly. “Unless you’re about to drop on me that the Captain’s last name is actually ‘Cyllene’ and—“ he paused, looking at Allium. “Oh yeah, I don’t know where Professor Laventon is right now.”

She hummed vacantly. “…it’s rather early. I suppose it’s possible he’s not even awake yet.”

“Akari, just how early did you wake me up…??”

Akari laughed nervously. “Eheheh… well… I was up much earlier than usual to handle a request about studying Espeon and Umbreon… specifically to gauge their strengths pre and post sunrise,” she explained. “I went to the Professor’s lab to double check some notes, and that’s when I found this whole situation and… maybe I panicked a little.”

Rei patted his Typhlosion slowly as he listened. “Okay. How early is it, though…?”

She hesitated to answer. “Like. 5:30 in the morning if I had to guess. Maybe earlier.”

He groaned. “Too early. I sleep.”

Akari huffed as she watched Rei tuck himself under the kotatsu. He called Figgy back into its ball and Chestnut hobbled over to the disused fireplace; it’s old favorite bed once upon a time.

“Are you actually going to sleep here?”

He put his hat over his face in response.

“Let the lad be. Waking up before you’re ready is always a dreadful experience.” Allium stood up from the sofa and gazed around the lab. “Do you know where Faris keeps his teapot…? I think a spot of tea is just the pick-me-up we need.”

Fic status update;

I’ve not been writing steadily these past few months. A lot has happened. You know how life gets in the way of writing fanfic…

Anyhoo, I only have two scenes left to write! This chapter is jam packed with fun, action, the starting point of everyone else’s character arcs… (eg. Akari, Rei, and Laventon), so there was a lot to cover! I hope finishing this makes writing subsequent chapters a lot easier.

When to expect it? I dunno, I’ve been setting the bar too close every time and then sulking when I don’t meet it. Let’s set the bar really low: I want it done before July.

I know y’all don’t follow me for my work at DHSComix, but since it’s the closest thing I have to a paying job, it’s currently at the center of my attention to get some art done!

Merlin and I are actually co-writing the current volume of RE! It’s going to be very long because… I’ve got a lot of characters I wanna show off.

A lot of the characters have existed for years but I haven’t had the chance (…or energy…) to depict them in anything.

I’ve got many more to go lol

I’ve got a lot of time to prepare things so I may post more.

Hourly Comics: February 1st, 2023

Well, there’s not much to say that isn’t already on there. I… technically did draw a comic for 2021, but it was just one panel noting that I forgot it was Hourly Comic day.

2022 was… bad for me. Bad for a lot of people I’m sure, but it started out horrifically bleak on my end. Everyone say thank you Kamen Rider for keeping me afloat.

Here’s all the visual assets I made for my latest fic! For the vintage portraits I went for a simplified lineless style which was, for sure, difficult for me as someone who hasn’t tried that in years, but I’m pretty pleased with them

But if there’s one thing I like more than the portraits it’s the little scribbles (the Wooloo one is my fav)

This Gengar is actually the best thing I think
