i’m raising my son to speak and act and dress like a 19th-century british dandy and today he told me “mamà, today at school a group of miscreants tried to bully me but i bit my thumb at them and said ‘i pity you, that your world is so small, and the wonders therein so few’” so proud of him

you guys i am so in love with this fandom. you people read 2 whole books about a solar system with 9 planets that is stated to have been the cradle of humanity and you are still surprised when it turns out that it’s like, THE solar system.
Just fully no thoughts, head empty, marinating in the lesbianism of the situation without a single neuron firing. i salute your dedication

Plus on the re-read I got much more out of the Gideon-Harrow relationship. Basically, I love the writing choice that Gideon knows and accepts that she’s attracted to women in general, but denies, resents and suppresses her attraction to Harrow specifically. Gideon goes on and on about the extreme hotness of Coronabeth, Gideon is awkward but still pretty straightforward about her crush on Dulcinea, but Gideon becomes a hilariously unreliable narrator when it comes to Harrowhark. Whenever the narrative even comes close to acknowledging Harrow as a flesh-and-blood girl who could maybe potentially be physically touched, Gideon defaults to the classic pre-teen disgust reaction: ew, yikes, barf, how terrible. This is, of course, a delight to read.

still insanely funny to me that ortus nigenad has canonically written 18 volumes of epic poetry about a bodyguard who was, in fact, Just Some Guy, and regularly quotes himself out loud in conversations on the regular. man had to die at the start of gtn because he was too fucking powerful to live

In the original draft of Gideon, Harrow doesn’t say ‘Oh, I have hurt your heart,’ she says ‘Oh, I have rustled your jimmies.’ She says that purely because that’s what my brain thrust into my hand and I liked the way it sounded. Carl said, ‘You can’t put that in a novel’ […]

“The whole place had the look of a picked-at body. But hot damn! What a beautiful corpse.” - Gideon The Ninth “He why nobody makes fanart of Canaan House? I should make fanart of Canaan House” I said before spending weeks painting this weird fanart idea while moving at the same time. This is Gideon’s first time seeing Canaan House and it’s at its most beautiful.
