Honestly a thing that I've come to realize is that people on the far left believe that they are the only ones fighting for true liberation and justice and consequently can't be high control or authoritarian - or if they are, it's justified - and people on the far right genuinely believe they are the sole guardians of freedom and morality and consequently can't be high control or authoritarian - or if they are, it's justified.

So what I'm saying is, if you don't regularly question your beliefs and reflect on your behavior, if you don't think you have the power or capacity for evil and must watch for it, you are extremely likely to fall into this.

Another thing that had been on The Pile for a long time was this space waistcoat! I dye painted this piece of cotton back in 2015 when we were doing silk painting in Textiles class. I think I started cutting the waistcoat about 2 years ago, covered the buttons, and then got distracted. I had to piece part of one shoulder because I'd already used up part of the fabric to make a couple of handkerchiefs, but I don't think it's too noticeable. After dyeing the cotton I had splattered some fabric ink on it and painted a few stars, but after lining the fronts recently I painted a lot more stars on, and then painted glow in the dark ink on top.

It was a bit tricky to get photos of the glowing, and the first two are brighter than it looks in real life, at least with the small amount of charging it had when I took them. I also did a running stitch around the edges with glow in the dark thread which I've had for at least a decade and never used! Then I accidentally melted part of it with my iron and had to redo that bit.

The lining is a thrifted cotton sateen bedsheet and the back is blue linen from I forget where. The buttonholes are done by machine first, same as the last one, and then covered in silk twist.

gotta be honest with you, i'm not too sure about this thing ppl say of "conservatives" being irrationally opposed to "trans people just existing" or whatever. i guess controversial take but no they actually have very concrete reasons to oppose bodily autonomy and the destabilization of sexual roles we represent considering their views on sex/gender and social reproduction overall actually. obviously we must oppose those views as they are 1. wrong and 2. oppressive but like. it's not like they just chose a random minority to hate. i mean otherwise why do you think it's specifically us.

Antisemitism is the foundational bedrock of Nazism - every single action the Nazis took was because of their deep hatred of Jews and their belief that they were the cause of every problem in society and their desire to see Jewish life and culture eradicated from earth.

You cannot, cannot separate antisemitism from Nazi ideology, they are one and the same.

There are many, many deeply evil, poisonous and bigoted ideologies, but if antisemitism is not present, it simply is not Nazism.

Next time you bleat about how much you hate Nazis, if you're erasing Jews and Jewish suffering from that conversation, your activism is performative, shallow and woefully incomplete.
