So the 86th Academy Awards night (affectionately referred to as the Oscars) has come to an end.

As usual, many of us spend our time looking to see who was wearing whom, who was ‘best’ dressed and who was ‘worse’ dressed.

The big winners on the night were ’12 Years A Slave’ and ‘Gravity’. But really what we want to know is who won in the war of best manicure… who really nailed it?? (Yes that was on purpose and very clever… I thought).

Anyway, there were many hands on show but we at PURA thought there were some that just stood out from the rest.

The nude or very pale nails were a firm favourite this year, but who did it best?...

Lady Gaga was working the red carpet with a fabulous light purple embellished gown by Versace, it had the most amazing design from top to bottom. Looking unusually understated (for Lady Gaga), she finished off the look with a lovely nude nail to match.

Oscar presenter, Anne Hathaway was rocking a heavily bejewelled Gucci gown and ended up on E! worst dressed list. But she was killing it with her pale, pointy nails. Anything more would have been too much; her manicurist made the right decision and made those nails POP!

The girl of the night, the IT! Girl of the award season, Lupita Nyong’o has been on point all season and she didn’t disappoint. With her pale nails that set off her ice blue (Nairobi blue) Prada dress, she was wowing everybody once again.

There were those that were a little more daring than the pale nail wearers…

Maria Menounos wore a very classic style dress by Johanna Johnson, but she was sporting a more playful look on her nails with some edgy nail art. A cool shade of grey finished off with a black triangle and filled in with a sparkly silver polish.

  The classic nails were also out at the Oscars, and wearing them perfectly was Giuliana Rancic. Her classic French manicure was a beautiful addition to her lovely Paolo Sebastian dress.

Our winner of the night in the nail stakes was the one and only Kelly Osbourne. Miss fashion Police, herself was beautifully dressed in a Badgley Mischka dress and her nails were finished in a French manicure style, but with a lovely sparkly gold tip. They set off her gold accessories perfectly.

The Wanstead Art Trail

NEW!! Dermalogica Ultrasmoothing Eye Serum
