Autistic, omniromantic-demisexual, she/her pronouns. Welcome to my second blog, dedicated to my interests outside of writing! (Although, if you're interested in said writing, check out my main blog, @wouldntyou-liketoknow. Don't worry, I'm not gonna abandon my projects there anytime soon.) Here, we'll be focusing on sculpture/painting, adult coloring books, and ocassional baking! Fair warning: updates/posts WILL be slow, since motivation is just so much fun like that...

Spookie Jar #16: Honduran White Bat
Started: November 11, 2024
Finished: November 15, 2024
I tend to avoid taking my pictures indoors; I like natural light, especially since I like to use metallic-tinted paints. (It helps make up for the fact that I'm still not the best with a camera, lol 😅 Or, I hope it helps, at least.)
Thankfully, the place I left this guy at has lots of long, wide windows to let the sunshine in. (Plus, it's nice to have a guarantee that the piece will stay safe and intact for whoever finds it and decides to take it. Even when the weather gets warm again, I'm still gonna try to leave the pieces in sheltered spots.)
Like I said before, I love all types of bats in general. Definitely gonna sculpt even more in the future, but if I was gonna sculpt any species after the vampire, it had to be a Honduran White.
That's just the rules, I don't make 'em!
(Because I make clay stuff 😂 I'm sorry, that was so stupid)
And with that, we're all finally caught up on all my previous projects! Wish me luck for what's to come!

Spookie Jar #15: Honey Bee
Started: November 4, 2024
Finished: November 8, 2024
I don't think I'll ever stop sculpting; much like writing, it's a very important passion in my life. It's one more way for me to express myself.
Even so, as you've already seen, my personal collection is pretty full. I have so much space, and I'll probably have even less once I'm eventually able to start renting my own place. (And that's not even mentioning how much of a struggle it'll be to move all my pieces and keep them intact. God help me whenever that happens.)
So, taking some advice from my grandfather, I've recently decided to start a new personal trend: leaving my sculptures out in public. And when they're found, passersby can feel free to take them home if they like. Yes, I'll be leaving out things other than Spookie Jars. I just so happened to have finished this one when I decided to try this out.
As shown in the pictures, I'll be leaving notes with the pieces to give context and care instructions. (Yeah, I know it's just colorful distorted font. I haven't settled on a logo for my work just yet; I'll try to make one in the future.)
This also serves as my very first insect-based sculpture! That's why I made it a honey bee, because this planet legitimately needs them to survive and SOME PEOPLE REALLY NEED TO GET THAT THROUGH THEIR SKULLS.
Much like the Vampire Bat jar, the process of attaching the wings to the base gave me all kinds of hell. Getting the antennae to stay stable was a whole other challenge in itself.

Spookie Jar #12: Cheetah
Started: July 1, 2024
Finished: July 4, 2024
Spotted hyenas are my current favorite animal, but I was a total cheetah-stan when I was little. (Don't get me wrong, though, they're still lovely creatures.)
One of my younger cousins really likes them, so I made this for his birthday!
(This was also kinda inspired by Lindsay Nikole, since cheetahs are her favorites, too. Please go check out her content; she's as funny and informative as Casual Georaphic, if not even more so.)

Spookie Jar #11: Axolotl
Started: June 18, 2024
Finished: June 21, 2024
Despite all my talk about these things being gifts, I honestly have a hard time remembering birthdays.
My little brother is an exception since he kept me and the rest of our family up until 2:45 AM on his very first. (No, I'll never let him hear the end of it.)
He's fascinated by axolotls (surprisingly enough, he learned about them before he got into Minecraft, lol), and he says he wants to try keeping one as a pet when he's older.
Good thing he knows how to treat his stuff gently, since the gills almost gave me a legit migraine during the sculpting process.

Spookie Jar #10: Pheasant
Started: May 11, 2024
Finished: May 14, 2024
This was a birthday present for my grandfather! He's been hunting pheasant for as long as I can remember; when I was little, he would always keep the tail feathers after the birds were cleaned because he knew I liked how soft they were.
(And, to be clear: he only hunts these birds for food. He's very conscious of how many he brings home each year. The birds are treated with respect, and nothing goes to waste.)

Spookie Jar #8: Crow
Started: March 19, 2024
Finished: March 22, 2024
The very first bird I ever sculpted!
I made this as a birthday gift for my grandmother, since crows tend to have huge families and be good caretakers. (I originally tried to make an orca, since the matriarchs tend to care for new generations in the pod, but the shaping just didn't work out for the head-lid. I might try again someday.)
I had to re-sculpt the head-lid several times, because several earlier attempts looked like a seagull on drugs, and I was NOT about to give my grandma something like that.

Alien Worlds [Pages 26-27]: Oceanic Leviathan
Started: March 12, 2024
Finished: March 14, 2024
"Once the spacecraft has descended through the atmosphere, it is greeted by a leviathan from the deep. This enormous, oceanic alien is flanked by opportunistic scavengers that glide on the salad air, feasting on any morsel of prey it has left behind."
I thought it would be ironic to give such a huge alien the colors of something tiny, like a nudibranch/sea slug (the species Nembrotha kubaryana, to be precise). I'll admit that I didn't have quite that same amount of inspiration for the flying scavengers 😅
Plus, ever since I was a little kid, I always thought that if aliens existed, then the water on their planets just HAD to be a different color than blue. Since the main focus is one of those animals big enough to not need camouflage, I used a couple shades of violet to make it stand out!

Alien Worlds [Page 47]: Underground Incubator
Started: March 8, 2024
Finished: March 9, 2024
This book is all about worldbuilding and creature concepts! You can really see all the hard work and thought Kerby put into this; he made ten original planets, each with a unique ecosystem and any number of amazing lifeforms!
And, similar to Mythic World, he dedicated some pages in the back to explain each planet and each picture. I'll be transcribing them in the appropriate posts.
"Just below the surface, an oversized, insect-like alien guards her eggs; she is capable of laying thousands at a time. However, once hatched, the young are on their own. The vicious hatchlings are prone to cannibalism if they are unable to find sufficient food."
At the time, I was watching a playthrough of a video game called They Speak From The Abyss. It's a point-and-click horror adventure with a lot of body horror and gore, so fair warning if anyone is curious. One specific area of the game was full of pale colors mixed with shades of red and pink to make a fleshy-looking palette. And I guess I just really liked that aesthetic, so I gave it a shot with the alien and the eggs here.
The background was more frustrating. It took a lot of trial-and-error; I eventually got the mix to work by coloring the sections a darker shade of blue, then erasing and re-coloring with teals and greens. My indecisiveness kept acting up throughout the process, but I'm happy with how the colors almost pop now.

The Dragon of Rot and Undergrowth
Started: February 9, 2024
Finished: February 12, 2024
This, like many of the things I sculpt, was a gift for my dad. (I mean, he was the one who taught me to sculpt in the first place when I was little. He originally tried to teach me drumming, but I was undiagnosed and had the attention-span of a gyroscope, lmao.)
Specifically, a slightly belated Valentine's present, as well as an upgraded version of one of my previous gifts to him. (From what he told me, said previous one had been falling apart at the time.)
And yes, those are tiny rocks embedded all over the clay. Whenever my dad gives gifts, he does the whole box-inside-another-box-inside-yet-another-box truck. For one of my presents of Christmas 2023, he upped the ante and used a little pouch full of gardening pebbles to weigh one of the boxes down and confuse me 😂
So, I kept those pebbles and eventually got him back!

Socket-Takut #6: Voscri
Started: November 9, 2023
Finished: November 14, 2023
Aaaaaannnnd here it is! The upgraded version of my first eye-tendril monster! The leader of the new gang on my shelf!
The very first one on my profile picture (originally named Gox) included hooves on the fore-legs and wheels for feet on the hind-legs, inspired by my dad's fondness for rollerskating. I actually tried to keep that design for the new one a couple times, but the weight distribution just didn't work out.
But I still wanted this particular one to really stand out from the rest of its bretheren. So, that's how it ended up being the very first (and so far, only) centuar-esque design I've sculpted. I added the barbed tail to try and make it look as potentially sinister as it is weird.
Really, the only thing I kept from the original design were all the eyes across its body. It works as a way to signify this one's status as a leader to the others. (Why/how that came to be, I'm not quite sure. But I hope to go more in-depth with the lore sometime in the future, when I'm able to sculpt more Socket-Takuts. Knowing me, it's probably gonna turn out unnecessarily dark, lol.)

Started: October 14, 2023
Finished: October 15, 2023
This is the second biggest member of my little eye-horror gang! (You'll see the actual biggest right after this post.) It took a while for me to get the torso and back shaped/curved just right; I was going for a look somewhat similar to a warped tree trunk.
Sort of similar to Zhu, I made this one's head look kinda like a dog. Especially with those little pendant ears, lol.

Much like Scyser, I wanted more unconventional hands/paws and arms (since individual digits are just as annoying to sculpt as they are to draw). This time, I gave the claws a lot more attention to make them look like those of a lobster. The webbed feet design came before the claws, so I guess this guy is the first amphibious/aquatic member of this series.
At first, I was unsure how to make the head look unique compared to the others, and I eventually settled on a beaver-esque shape. The way I carved the mouth was completely random, but I stuck with it for the sake of variety.

Whenever I want to sculpt a monster (original or not), I like to use animal skulls as references, since they always look so much stranger than you'd expect.
I used pictures of a chihuahua skull to design this guy's head, lol. That's probably not too obvious since I added the crest, but still.
