15 minutes with Pull The Trigger

After four years, Pull The Trigger, a band from Algarve, is preparing to return on stage. Being that their first concert will happen already this Saturday, March 10 at ARCM, we decided to have a 15-minute conversation with the band to know a little more. How do you define the band's style and the style of your new project? Style ... the only defined style we have is: PULL THE TRIGGER. In terms of sonority, we can definitely say that we have always been a Metal band, with several influences of their mixed subgenres although we do not associate ourselves with a specific band or strand. We are PTT and that pleases us.   All artists are influenced by experiences or often by other artists who inspire them. What were your influences? We are quite close age-wise, which considerably smooths the band environment. We were essentially influenced by the 90's and the beginning of 2000, by the artists who accompanied us on the Walkman from kids to this new era. And of course, all the people who cross our lives and leave their mark. How does the band work during the creation process? The creation process turns out to be rather natural. There is always an initial idea brought by any of us, and in the studio the four of us work on the themes and assemble everything up to the final product. We believe you cherish all your creations placed in this EP, however, is there a song that is particularly special for you? I could say that "MUD" is the most special one due to being our first theme ever but no, for us all are equally special, each in its own way. Obviously, we have ones we like less and more, like in any band, but we won't reveal it for the moment being [laughs]. When it comes to Pull The Trigger it is quite evident that you've been away from the stage for some years. How do you feel about your return? Do you feel any pressure for this first concert? People are having some expectations about our return, we feel it deeply on our skin, but for us, it is just a beginning of much more to come. Let's not deny that this is a special date for PTT and also we are very enthusiastic, but as everything else in life nothing is ever finalized and perfect, we have much to develop and stepping on stages will help to smooth edges. The pressure is part of it and we deal well with it, it gives us motivation! Essentially, we feel that even now the book has already begun to be written. Do you think this pause influenced Pull The Trigger? How? Completely. Both the pause and the return are good highlights in our career and our lives. We do not regret anything because the path that was created and the mistakes of the past help considerably in the present. As the main differences, we underline the fact that we grew up as men and as musicians, giving importance to certain things that we've ignored. At this stage, we know well what we want and playtime is over. We enjoy having fun but are seriously focused on working, with attitude. With the release of this new EP, what are your expectations for the future of the band? The future of the band is to keep stumbling and getting up after, is not that what life is all about? [laughs] We want to evolve. We're not going to get perfect in our studio and the idea is to continue working, we need to step on stage and we're going to run after our goals. Fulfilled dreams never fell from the sky. What can the public expect from Saturday's concert? A good party/concert, with two awesome bands accompanying us: Villain Outbreak and D Potion. A special and crucial moment for many people including us. As mentioned before we will not achieve perfection from within our studio, but you can expect the very best of PTT on Saturday. The environment will be great as it always is in our "scene", the Metal world truly is wonderful! If we were, to sum up, all this with a single sentence, it would certainly be: "A NEW ERA IS COMING".
