- chapter 51, Oathbringer
‘Well, here I fucking am again. 😭’
Like, Mr./Ms. Overseer, you have no idea how not funny AND funny this situation is. He’s back to fucking square one.
Again.
Because according to him, he somehow always ends up back at square one. Even in a fucking Desolation, here he is again. It’s almost like predestination. If it’s “journey before destination,” it’d be nice to feel like there’s some progress being made!
But here he is, about to be put on a bridge crew again.
He gave up on humanity when he saw a group of Alethi darkeyes defer to a lighteyes who was severely incompetent. Then told himself that things were better under the rule of the Voidbringers (never mind that he was still a slave), until he saw them abusing some of their own. And now they’re setting up to do the bridge crew thing.
It probably feels like there’s no escape.
No wonder he feels so fatalistic.
It sort of goes back to Sigzil’s point in chapter 46 of The Way of Kings—
“it has been my experience that no matter where you go, you will find some who abuse their power…. If you were to overthrow the lighteyes and place yourselves in power, Moash, I doubt that the world would be a very different place. The abuses would still happen. Simply to other people.”
Turns out it’s to some of the same people too.
I was really proud of him when he stuck up for Sah and his family, though.
#the stormlight archive#THIS#these excellent little scenes are the moment I started caring about Moash#barely noticed him in WoK#neutral to him and his plots in WoR#but this... its not surprising he gives his pain to Odium#I don't think plotting to kill Elhokar was any more unreasonable then anything else a character has done#I don't think KILLING Elhokar was#I think these scenes in Oathbringer are some of the simplest powerful scenes in the series#and its wild that its for largely loathed Moash#the scene with his sight in RoW hits because we have this ground work#he KNOWS he's doing something wrong#yet supporting the singers is also right#and I don't believe Moash has the energy left to make those big decisions#genuinely curious as to where Branderson is headed with Moash - has the groundwork to be truly fascinating#on the other hand Stormlight is a huge series with so many characters that I don't know that Moash will actually be given enough time#to do this justice#AND his treatment of Kaladin in the RoW early chapters also suggest he could be a simple villian#but his end scenes in RoW do not!#yeah. fascinated where Branderson is going with this#(tag essay)

I find it kind of stupid how 'half full' vs 'half empty' is framed as an optimist/pessimist thing. If it starts full and gets halfway drained, it's half empty. If it starts empty and gets halfway filled, it's half full. If you don't know the starting state it's both simultaneously.

Torri talks about the (lack of) relationship between Elizabeth and Teyla
#stargate atlantis#man that would have got Weir involved more too#which would have been great#my take is they should have asked Amanda Tapping if she wanted to do directing/behind the scenes in SGA rather than bringing Sam Carter in#I have great faith that Amanda Tapping could have mitigated some of the sexism#and got some of the actors listened to#it would have been a better show#too late now

Sometimes I see some variety of North American Little Guy (opossum, raccoon, etc. ) and I’m like “okay”
BUT THEN I start thinking about how excited somebody from not-North-America would be to see this Guy. Like, would an Australian be excited to see the only marsupial not from their country? Are there raccoons in zoos on the other side of the world that are regarded as unique and exotic creatures? Idk but it’s made me more excited to see Guys in my area.

I think the best thing about Din Djarin is that he can be incredibly badass but also incredibly awkward. There are so many moments of him just being totally humiliated or have no grace in a social interaction or just fundamentally not understand star wars, but it doesn't take away from his badassery. Dude gets beat up by JAWAS in the second episode of his own show and he's still beloved as one of the coolest star warriors.

Has the icon and username of anyone who added a comment with their reblog disappeared for anyone else?
Surely this isn't an update. That's such a weird change.
Also really not cool. I want to know who commented what! Isn't that part of being a blogging website?
#hopefully just a glitch#sometimes there ARE good updates like the expand for long posts#this is not one of them

Here's a comparison video between two pieces of the same cat! I started hand embroidery at the beginning of 2023, and seeing them side by side is my favorite. Enjoy!
