“So hear me out,” Is the first thing that Nate says to you, when you slip into the booth at your favorite diner, where you were allegedly just supposed to be meeting him for breakfast. It’s been both yours and Nate’s favorite diner since middle school, when it was the two of you against the world, or at least, it felt like it; him, the next great hockey player from your small town, and you, too smart for your own good, already skipping grades and whispers between your parents about skipping more.

“Oh no.” You grin at him all the same, familiar with your long-time best friend’s brand of asking for a favor. “What’s this now?”

Nate takes a deep breath and then spits it out. “I need you to come to a wedding with me.”

how Matthew Tkachuk is like as a boyfriend

- Matty tries really hard to be a good boyfriend

- his confidence isn’t always the best and he has a lot of self doubt

- especially in relationships

- he just doesn’t feel like he can be the boyfriend you deserve

- due to hockey he’s just gone a lot and when he’s home he just feels like he can’t be there for you in ways you might need

- tries to come up with cute date ideas and surprise you with gifts and spending time with you

- asks his teammates and friends for date ideas

- even though his ideal date is just chilling at home and like cuddling up on the couch and watching a movie

- or maybe going on a hike or another fun activity

- even though he’ll definitely complain at the end of the day because he’s exhausted

- nevermind the fact that he’s a professional athlete

- he’ll just plop down on the couch or the bed and just stay there for the rest of the day

- maybe complain until you join him in just laying around all day

- just snuggling up and not moving anymore after exhausting yourselves

- loves it when you hold him

- you’re not allowed to tell anybody he loves being the little spoon but he’s such a sucker for it

- just having you hold him and maybe complimenting him a little and just being snuggled together

- makes him feel safe and loved

- Matthew also loves it when you wear his clothes

- he just thinks you look so pretty in his hoodies even when you’re having a lazy day he’s just full on heart eyes over you

- especially if it’s something with his name and/or number on it

- it’s like him claiming you but it’s you that’s claiming him lowkey

- and he gets so soft over you

- sometimes he brings home roses just because he felt like getting you flowers

- (and the people at the flower shop said red roses are for love and he loves you)

- he really loves the vibe of homecooked meals but sadly he’s just an absolute disaster in the kitchen

- he can cut vegetables and other ingredients but do you really trust him to be unsupervised with a sharp knife?

- keep some bandaids close just in case

- he’s not a morning person at all

- it always takes him ages to get up even with an alarm blaring

- but he doesn’t want to disturb you when you’re peacefully sleeping next to him looking so cute and he just wants to stay and cuddle

- has fallen back asleep with you instead of getting up more than once

- just a little bit clingy, especially in private

- alwayd covering you in lovebites

- if he can’t chew on his mouthguard he’ll just have to chew on you (affectionately)

- his family would absolutely love you

- which means they’ll definitely tease you all the time because that’s just Tkachuk love 

- especially when he takes you home to St. Louis 

- and Taryn and Brady are just so ready to gossip about Matt and collect blackmail material

- even though Matt complains about it (loudly) he’s really glad that you get along well with his family

- because he loves you and wants you to be part of his life for a long long time and it’s just nice that his favorite people get along

- but he’d also rather just have you to himself

- so he will definitely drag you back to his room to cuddle while his siblings make disgusted noises
