jeongyeon stretches, finally moving from her seat. she walks into the living room and almost trips over the toys scattered across the floor. letting out a small sigh, she picks up the little truck she almost fell over.
“hey, tzu. can you clean your toys up for me? we have to get ready to go to momo’s for dinner.”
jeongyeon waits a few moments, expecting her baby to look up at her and start cleaning. getting no response from the little instead, she sets the truck down on the coffee table. “tzu?”
tzuyu finally looks up, tearing her eyes away from the tower of blocks. “not done playin’ yet,” she says, a small pout on her lips.
“i know, baby, but i promise your toys will be back when we get home. i just don’t want you or me to get hurt tripping over things.”
“i’m too tired,” tzuyu says as she sets her blocks down. she lays down on the floor and lets out a whine.
jeongyeon chuckles softly and rolls her eyes. she leans against the couch and watches as tzuyu rolls and whines on the floor. “you know, if you aren’t a good girl, then santa may not come.”
the thought of santa skipping her shoots tzuyu upright. a look of panic washes over her as she quickly gets up, gathering armfuls of toys to bring to the basket in the corner.
jeongyeon watches, never having seen tzuyu work so fast to clean up. by the time she’s finished, the little’s panting slightly. only her blocks are left in a neat pile by the edge of the coffee table.
“santa will still come now, right?” tzuyu asks anxiously. she holds her arms out, worry in her eyes.
jeongyeon smiles and nods. she picks her baby up and kisses her cheek gently. “of course he will, tzu. you’re such a good girl. thank you for cleaning up. now, are you ready for momo’s? i think boo and dobby are there!”
tzuyu’s brain easily switches to warm thoughts are the dogs. she nods and wraps her arms around her mama’s neck, content knowing that santa will still come.

o christmas tree
|| little!mina, cg!momo ||
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The pout on Mina’s face is prominent as she wakes up and toddles into the living room. She has her comforter wrapped around her, hair sticking every which way as she rubs her eyes. Momo sees her baby standing at the end of the hallway, still a bit fuzzy from sleep herself as she takes a sip of her coffee.
“Good morning, angel,” Momo says as Mina shuffles further into the living room. “Are you a grumpy penguin today?”
Mina’s pout deepens, causing Momo to chuckle as her baby shuffles further into the living room. Iggy’s head pokes out of Mina’s comforter, her fingers holding tight to her favorite stuffie. “Tree,” she says, her bottom lip jutting out as she points to the Christmas tree by the front door.
Momo turns to look at the tree and nods. “Oh, that’s why you’re grumpy.” She sets her coffee down and gets up, walking into the living room to pull Mina into her lap as she sits on the couch. “You thought presents would be there, didn’t you?”
Mina nods, her eyebrows now furrowed as she looks up at her mommy. Presents are no joking matter. “Where?” Mina asks, her tiny voice gruff from sleep.
“We still have a little bit of time left until Christmas, sweet pea.” Momo slowly runs her fingers through Mina’s blonde hair, smiling at how well the color has stayed so far.
Mina lets out a small huff and shakes her head. She moves her arms out from under her comforter and holds Iggy up to her mommy’s face. She waits patiently for Momo to give Iggy a kiss and then her.
“I’m sorry, angel, but you know that Santa doesn’t put presents under the tree this early.” Momo chuckles again when Mina whines. She pulls Iggy back under her comforter and buries her face in her mommy’s chest.
“Well, den uhm den how come dere’s presents at Jeongie and Nayeon’s house already?” Mina tilts her head back slightly, her bangs hanging just over her eyes. Momo brushes them back and watches them gently fall against her baby’s forehead.
“That’s because Jeongie and Nayeon get each other a few gifts and then Santa gets them gifts.” Momo tries her best to make up a good excuse as to why there’s no presents under their tree. She thinks it sounds a bit better than, ‘I’ve been lazy and haven’t wrapped anything yet’.
Mina looks down, Iggy making another appearance as she fiddles with his wings. Her mouth forms into a thin line, eyebrows knitted together as she thinks. She looks up after a few moments, big brown eyes staring straight into her mommy’s. “I can get you a p’esent den.”
Momo smiles and shakes her head. She wraps her arms tighter around Mina and presses a soft kiss on the crown of her head. “You don’t have to get me anything, sweet pea. You’re the only present I need.”
//
“Okay, sweet pea. Be good for me. I’ll be back soon. If you need anything, I’m right outside.” Momo leans down and kisses the side of Mina’s head. She gives her baby a small wave before heading outside to shovel the front walkway.
Once the door shuts and the lock turns, Mina gets up. She peers out the window and watches Momo’s retreating figure, shovel in hand. As soon as she’s got the shovel on the ground, Mina runs back to her bedroom.
Mina looks at all her toys and books scattered around her bedroom. She loves all the stuffies her mommy’s gotten her over the past few years and she plays with most of her toys, but she really wants to give her mommy something. It’ll make her mommy happy, and then maybe Santa will come early like at Nayeon and Jeongie’s house (Mina definitely doesn’t understand that Santa doesn’t visit early).
Iggy gets picked up and then sat back down on her bed immediately. There’s no way she could ever give Iggy away. Not even to her mommy. Mina looks through bags and boxes of toys and games, eventually finding a Barbie that Sana got her a year ago. Mina isn’t a big fan of Barbie, but she knows that her mommy loves Barbie.
Excitedly, Mina runs out of her room with the Barbie. She peeks out the window to make sure that Momo’s still shoveling before she grabs the wrapping paper out of the closet. She only has safety scissors to work with, but she’s sure she’ll be able to cut well enough with them.
Mina sits down and spreads the wrapping paper out. She lays the Barbie down in the middle and cuts around it. It takes a lot of concentration, a break to get hot chocolate from the kitchen, and a little too much tape.
By the time the Barbie’s wrapped up (in about a foot of wrapping paper and tape), Momo’s done shoveling. Mina hears footsteps outside of the door and quickly puts away the wrapping paper. She puts the Barbie under the tree and lays down on the couch with Iggy and her comforter.
“Right where I left you,” Momo says with a fond smile. She shakes off her coat and hangs it up before sitting down beside her baby. “Did you play with Iggy while I was gone, angel?”
Mina nods, a small smile on her lips as she nuzzles into Momo’s side. She knows that keeping secrets isn’t always nice, but she knows that this one’s a good secret.
“Mommy, look at dis!” Mina holds Iggy up, Barbie completely forgotten, and flips him in her hands, a proud smile on her face. Momo’s seen that little trick about a thousand times, but she’ll never get over how happy it makes her baby.
“Wow! That’s awesome, angel. Did Iggy learn that all by himself?” Momo asks, a laugh leaving her as Mina shakes her head and points at herself.
“No,” Mina giggles, “I uhm I teached him and uhm and I teached him out to do dis too.” She flips Iggy back and smiles wide when Momo applauds.
//
Momo puts Mina down for her nap. She usually has her sleep in her room, but since she fell asleep halfway through The Grinch, she let her stay. Momo tucks her baby’s comforter in a little, making sure that Iggy’s securely in Mina’s arms.
As she’s kneeling by the couch, Momo spots an oddly shaped Christmas gift. She knows that the tree didn’t have anything under it before she went out to shovel snow. She gently presses a kiss to Mina’s forehead before shuffling over to the tree.
Momo looks back to make sure Mina’s asleep before picking up the gift. She laughs softly at the heavy wrapping, the tag on it written in shaky handwriting: “For Mommy. From Meena.”
There’s still at least a week until Christmas, but as Momo sets the gift back under the tree, she thinks that it may come a couple days early this year.

Mina was curled up on the couch with a book in her hands when Dahyun shuffled out of her room, her oversized hoodie making her appear smaller than usual. Mina glanced up with a soft but knowing smile.
"Hey there, my little munchkin" Mina cooed in a gentle tone, setting her book aside.
Dahyun blinked, standing frozen in place like a deer caught in headlights. the switch flipped almost instantly. her posture slackened and the faintest pout formed on her lips.
"'m not a munchkin" she mumbled, but the way her little fingers fidgeted with the strings of her hoodie betrayed her.
"oh really?" Mina teased, leaning forward with a playful glint in her eyes. "because I see a very sleepy girl in front of me. do you need snuggles angel?"
Dahyun's cheeks flushed pink as she shuffled closer, her regression fully setting in. she reached out to Mina, her voice small and soft. "snuggles pwease."
"there's my baby" Mina said scooping the little up with ease. she settled Dahyun in her lap, wrapping her arms around her protectively. "you're just the cutest, you know that?"
Dahyun nuzzled into Mina's shoulder clutching at her shirt as a yawn escaped her lips. "momma make it all better," she murmured, her little voice melting her momma's heart.
"I always will honey" Mina whispered as she pressed a lingering kiss to the little one's head. "now lets get you comfy, hmm? maybe a blanket and MooMoo too?
the little one hummed in content her face already buried in the crook of Mina's neck.

little!tzuyu waking up in the middle of the night because she had a bad dream so she gets caregiver!jeongyeon.
she sits up in her bed for a few minutes, the star stickers on her ceiling providing a little bit of comfort. she doesn’t want to wake her mama up, but she doesn’t want to be alone.
she crawls out of bed and as quietly as she can, creeps into jeongyeon’s room. she has poppy tucked under her arm as she slowly pushes the door open. it’s dark in jeongyeon’s arm and a little scarier than her room.
tzuyu takes a deep breath and walks up to the side of jeongyeon’s bed. she gently tugs on her mama’s shoulder once and then again when she doesn’t move.
jeongyeon stirs, her eyes struggling to open as she’s pulled from a deep sleep. “wha’?” jeongyeon rubs her eyes with the backs of her hands, squinting them open. she sees tzuyu’s silhouette, very dimly lit by the night light in the hallway. “what’s wrong, tzu?”
tzuyu holds poppy tighter. she doesn’t want to bother her mama but the dream she had was so scary and it seemed so real. she looks down at her feet, suddenly feeling had that she came in and didn’t just go back to sleep.
“did you have a bad dream?” jeongyeon asks, her voice in a comforting whisper. tzuyu nods, her eyes still focused on her feet when she feels her mama’s arms wrap around her.
jeongyeon sits up and pulls tzuyu onto the bed and into her lap. she rubs slow, soothing circles into her baby’s back, feeling a little bit of the tension leave her.
“do you want to talk about it?”
tzuyu’s quiet, her head on her mama’s chest as she listens to the soothing sound of her heartbeat. she shakes her head after a few seconds and cuddles closer.
it’s was too quiet in the room and even though she had the star stickers, it was scary. being with her mama, even though she had a really dark room, made her feel so much safer. the whoosh of her mama’s hand running over her shirt and the steady beat of her heart wrap around her like a warm blanket.
“do you want to try to sleep some more with me, love bug, or do you want to do something to help you sleep?”
jeongyeon’s patient. she runs her hand through tzuyu’s hair, gently rocking them back and forth. it’s peaceful at night. the house is quiet and it’s easier for tuzyu to think.
“wanna do somethin’.”
jeongyeon nods and picks her baby up. she makes sure that poppy’s tucked safely under tuzyu’s arm before they walk into the living room. jeongyeon opts for the recliner instead of the couch, knowing that the movement will help her baby get to sleep a little faster.
“do you want to watch something?”
tzuyy gives a little nod. she tucks her head under her mama’s chin and lets out a small sigh, slowly letting her body relax.
jeongyeon flips through all the shows and movies on disney+, settling on bear in the big blue house. it seems to be the most calming of the bunch and something jeongyeon won’t absolutely hate either.
the tv’s just loud enough for tzuyu to hear the characters speaking. she giggles softly when she hears bear’s goofy voice.
jeongyeon smiles and lays her head back. she keeps her fingers threaded through tzuyu’s hair, lightly scratching her head.
it only takes a few minutes of bear and his friends before tuzyu’s breathing evens out. she’s curled into her mama’s lap, poppy resting between her chest and her mama’s.
jeongyeon knows that they’ll have to talk about tzuyu’s nightmare eventually, but that can wait for the morning. when the whole world’s up and the lights aren’t soft and warm.

bunny jeongie
|| little!jeongyeon, cg!nahyo ||
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Have you seen my hat? I want to let Kookeu out, but I don’t want my ears to freeze.” Nayeon calls from the hallway closet, her head in the hat and glove bin.
Jihyo’s laugh can be heard through their apartment as she sits on the living room couch. “Which one? You have a billion hats.”
“You know,” Nayeon says as she pokes her head around the corner. “The one with the bunny ears. White and fuzzy?”
Jihyo shrugs, smiling as she watches Nayeon groan and search the same bin again. Unsuccessful, Nayeon decides to look around the rest of the apartment, Kookeu hot on her heels. His tail wags excitedly in anticipation for their eventual walk.
Nayeon looks on every surface she can see and even checks the cabinets. It’s like her to put her things places they shouldn’t be in the first place– like the fridge.
“Have you checked Jeongyeon’s room?” Jihyo tilts her head back, eyes following Nayeon as she stands up from her crouched position.
“Why would it be in there?” Nayeon asks as she walks through the living room.
Jihyo just shrugs. She turns her attention back to her drama, blocking out Nayeon’s mumbling as she tries to retrace her steps with the hat.
Nayeon knocks once on Jeongyeon’s door before slowly pushing it open. “Where are you, peanut?”
“Ah!” Jeongyeon coos excitedly as she sees Nayeon, a goofy grin on her face. She sets her dinosaur toys down and pushes herself up, toddling over to her mommy.
“There’s my bunny hat,” Nayeon says with a chuckle. She looks at Jeongyeon, the hat pulled almost all the way over her eyes. Nayeon pushes the hat back a little, the white fuzz no longer obscuring her baby’s view. “I guess mama was right. You did have it.”
Jeongyeon smiles and presses her face against Nayeon’s side, her mommy’s shirt muffling her giggles. She shuffles in place and the ears on the hat flop around.
“Can mommy have her hat back, bub? Kookeu has to go out and potty.”
At this, Jeongyeon tilts her head up to look at Nayeon. A pout forms on her lips and she shakes her head. “No. Wan’ be bunny.”
Nayeon gasps over-dramatically as she puts her hands on her hips. “But you’re not a bunny. You’re Jeongie.”
This draws another giggle from the little. Her smile widens even more as she hops around her bedroom, the ears on the hat flapping up and down. “Bunny, mommy! Bunny!”
Nayeon shakes her head and chuckles softly. She watches Jeongyeon hop around her room for a few moments before she’s being clung to again. “Well, I guess since you’re a bunny now, bub, then you’ll be eating veggies for dinner.”
Jeongyeon stops, a pout quickly replacing her smile. She whines and buries her face into Nayeon’s shoulder. “No. Yucky, mommy!”
“That’s what bunnies eat, bub.”
Jeongyeon shakes her head, her whines growing louder as she pulls the hat off. She pushes it into Nayeon’s hands, tears starting to form in the corners of her eyes. “N-not bunny. Jus’- jus’ wanna be Jeongie.”
“Are you sure you don’t want to be a bunny? You get to eat lots of carrots and lettuce and-"
Nayeon’s cut off by a louder whine from Jeongyeon. She runs out of her bedroom and dives onto the couch beside Jihyo, sniffling as she tucks herself into her mama’s side.
“What’s wrong, bub?” Jihyo lets out a fond chuckle and wraps her arms around her baby. She pulls Jeongyeon closer and presses a gentle kiss to her forehead.
“M-mommy bein’ meanie.”
Jihyo looks up, eyebrow raised as Nayeon walks out with her bunny hat on. She walks to the front door and puts Kookeu’s leash and harness on him, the excitement from the little ball of fluff clear as his nails click on the floor. “All I said was that if Jeongie wanted to be a bunny then she’d get to eat lots of veggies for dinner tonight.”
“My poor little baby,” Jihyo says softly as Nayeon stands by the front door with Kookeu. Jihyo gently tilts her baby’s chin up, wiping away a few stray tears. “Mommy doesn’t mean that. She doesn’t even like veggies too much.”
Jeongyeon’s bottom lip juts out. She sniffles as Jihyo cups her face, pressing a kiss to her forehead. “How about this? Since you’ve been such a good girl today and mommy’s teasing you so much, you get mac and cheese for dinner.”
Jeongyeon’s eyes light up at this offer. She eagerly nods and wipes her nose on the sleeve of her shirt. “Okay,” she says with a small smile.
“And mommy can eat all your veggies.”
Nayeon opens her mouth to say something but Jihyo shoots her a playfully stern look. “She can have mama’s veggies too,” Jihyo says with a chuckle once Nayeon leaves with Kookeu.
I couldn’t resist! Jeongyeon’s just too cute in the little bunny hat.

tw: mentions of abuse, abandonment, and violence
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first 24 hours with Dahyun were fairly easy. Since she was out on her own for so long, fighting to get even a few minutes of restless sleep in the freezing cold, she finally slept. She would wake up to inhale whatever Tzuyu made, pet the dogs for a few minutes, then fall asleep on the couch again.
Tzuyu kept to herself for the first 24 hours. She knew that Dahyun was just barely okay with Sana being near her and she didn't want to make the girl anymore uncomfortable than she already was.
When Sana blew through the front door of their home with a sleeping little girl in her arms, Tzuyu didn't know what to think. She looked at Sana, wide-eyed and extremely confused. Sana just gave her a look that Tzuyu read as 'I'll explain everything later'.
"She was just sitting underneath that big willow tree?" Tzuyu asked as she sunk back into the couch. Sana nodded, a big sigh leaving her as she ran her hand through her hair.
"I just... I can't believe she was out there. I don't even know her name." Sana looked up at her wife. She was on the verge of tears, but she was afraid that if she started crying, she'd wake the little girl up. Sana knew that she desperately needed sleep. "She was so bony."
Tzuyu reached beside her, gently squeezing Sana's hand. "That little coat she had on must have made her look bigger than she is."
Sana nodded in agreement. When she laid Dahyun down on the bed and took her coat of, she had to cover her hand with her mouth to muffle her gasp. Not only was Dahyun dangerously thin, she also had scars and faded bruises littering her body. It took everything in Sana to not breakdown and just put Dahyun in one of her t-shirts and tuck her in bed.
Dahyun looks out the back door leading into Sana and Tzuyu's yard. It's covered in a thick blanket of snow, Kaya and Butter's pawprints scattered around. She jumps a bit when she hears the floor creak in the kitchen and scoots closer to the door.
Sana's noticed in the few hours that Dahyun's actually been awake that she's sat close to the back door or the front door. She's not too sure why the little girl's decided to camp out by the doors, but she has a sinking feeling in her gut.
"Hey, Dahyun?"
Dahyun turns around slowly, wrapping her arms around her knees that she has pulled up to her chin. She's so skinny and her eyes carry a sadness that Sana's never seen in a child of her age, whatever it may be.
"Do you want to draw with me some more?" Sana kneels down by Dahyun, making sure to stay a safe distance away. Kaya hears Sana's voice and trots in from the hallway, nuzzling against Dahyun's arm.
The pups are sweet, but Sana's never seen them warm up to anyone this fast. Even when Tzuyu adopted them, they were a little skittish around her for the first few weeks.
Dahyun looks down at the crayons and paper that Sana set down. She notices that these crayons are different. They're fatter than the ones she used with Sana yesterday to draw.
Dahyun reaches her hand out, her fingers wrapping around an orange crayon. She pulls a piece of printer paper towards her and starts to color. Sana watches her for a few seconds before she starts on her own paper.
It's quiet for a few minutes. Kaya's soft snores and crayons on paper fill the cozy space by the back door. Butter stretches himself out on the couch, seemingly enjoying having it all to himself for a little while.
"Do you know how old I am, Dahyun?" Sana suddenly asks, her voice soft as she looks down at the little girl.
Dahyun shakes her head, her eyes focused on her drawing. It's filled with stick figures and a little black blob she assumes is Kaya.
Sana flips her drawing over and writes out a large 28 with a purple crayon. She holds it up, patiently waiting as Dahyun looks up at her. "Do you know what this number is?"
Dahyun looks at the shape of the numbers, thinking hard. She loves numbers and sometimes they're the only thing that keep her going when she's walking alone at night. She'll count the number of buildings she passes or the the tiles on the sidewalk.
Sana figures that Dahyun doesn't know how to count, or she just doesn't know how to count so high. She's surprised when Dahyun flips her own drawing over, writing down a large, wobbly, backwards 5 with her green crayon. She shyly turns it around for Sana to see.
"Is that how old you are?" Sana asks, her chest tightening. She forces herself to tamp down the sadness she can feel bubbling up inside of her.
Looking down at her paper again, Dahyun nods a little. “Fi-five” She thinks she's five. She likes the number and it sounds right. She doesn't really remember if she's five or not, but it's a good shape for a number.
//
Dahyun seems content just drawing. She doesn't know the last time she was able to sit and draw. Usually she's worrying about whether or not she'll be able to eat and making sure that no one sees her unless she wants to be seen.
She can hear the hushed whispers from Sana and Tzuyu in the kitchen, but she doesn't put much thought into it. Kaya hasn't left her side and she likes that. She likes how soft her fur is and she likes the feeling of her head on her legs.
In the kitchen, Tzuyu squeezes her work phone so hard that Sana's afraid she might break it. Sana keeps her hand on her wife's waist, hoping to keep her grounded and avoid an outburst. She can't hear the person Tzuyu's talking to but based on her wife's expressions, she knows it can't be good.
Tzuyu sets her head down on the kitchen counter once she hangs up the phone. She takes a deep breath in, her hands gripping the edge of the counter tightly.
"Who was that?" Sana asks, cautious to not cause any further turmoil for her wife.
"The head sergeant in the Youth Investigation unit." Tzuyu keeps her head on the kitchen counter, the cool granite helping to calm her nerves slightly. "He asked around at other Youth Investigation units and apparently she's been floating around since she was two." Tzuyu has to stop, her head suddenly spinning as she says the words out loud.
"She's not from Andong, is she?" Sana sits down when Tzuyu shakes her head. She leans her head on Tzuyu's shoulder, exhaling shakily.
"She's... she's like a little ghost," Tzuyu starts. "No one knows where she came from. She's not on file at our precinct and none within a twenty mile radius either."
"But you said they were able to find a surname for her."
Tzuyu rubs her hands over her face, stress evident as she stands up. "It doesn't help when the surname is Kim and who even knows if it's still actually connected to anyone she knows?"
Sana knows that Tzuyu's just frustrated, but she rolls her eyes at her wife when she hears Dahyun's whimper from the living room. She gets up, slowly walking in to try and find Dahyun. Kaya and Butter are both on the couch, their ears perked as they look in the direction of the TV.
"Sweetie?" Sana kneels, shuffling forward to look behind the TV. Dahyun's somehow managed to step over all the wires and wedge herself behind the entertainment center that's holding the TV. "Oh, Dahyun," Sana sighs, her heart breaking as the little girl trembles against the mess of wires on the floor.
//
By the time Sana manages to coax Dahyun from behind the entertainment system, Tzuyu's been gone for an hour. She decided to go to the precinct to try and find any information about the poor girl. She hates leaving Sana to take care of her, but based off the reaction she had, she's not exactly welcome in her home.
Sana sits with Dahyun in the guest room, a blanket underneath them and a blanket wrapped around Dahyun's shoulders. Sana pulls out the the first drawing she made and points to the house that was violently scribbled over with a black crayon.
"Do you think you can tell me a little about this?"
Sana's not sure if it's her demeanor, her experience teaching, or the fact that she's the only person who's given Dahyun positive attention in who knows how long, but she's surprised when the little girl nods. It's a hesitant and unsure nod, but she grabs a blank piece of paper from Sana's side and a few crayons.
Sana watches as Dahyun's little hands grip the fat crayons, the shapes and figures a little hard to decipher as she draws them. Sana wishes that Dahyun could talk, but she has a feeling that's not something Dahyun will do for a very long time.
Thanks to her teaching experience over the past almost 9 years, she's seen so many kids who act the same way Dahyun acts. The trauma Sana's sure Dahyun's experienced, only exacerbates what she thinks may be autism. She's caught Dahyun a few times just staring at the clock, watching the numbers slowly tick by. The only thing that would draw her attention away would be a loud noise or the sound of someone getting even remotely close to her.
Dahyun sets her crayons down and sits back, pulling her blanket tighter around herself. She likes that it's warm. She really wanted to be warm and now that she is warm, she can't really remember the last time she wasn't warm.
"Do you think you could point to the things in the picture for me, sweetheart?"
Sana's smile is very pretty. It makes Dahyun feel warm inside and it makes her feel almost... safe. She picks up her picture and points to a house similar to the one in the first picture. The house itself is still blacked out, but this time time there's a little girl, a woman, and a few men. The woman has a red 'x' drawn over her and the men have red drawn around them.
The next part of Dahyun's picture is another little girl, a couple little boys, and more men with red drawn around them. Sana's not sure how to interpret either of the things that Dahyun's shown her so far so she stays quiet. She lets Dahyun finish before she tries to ask any questions.
Again Sana's not confident that everything is in chronological order, but she does get a little more out of this picture than the first one. The first picture was drawn out of pure fear and anger. This one is still sad, but everything's a little more clear.
//
By the time Tzuyu gets back from the precinct, Dahyun's in bed. Sana put Kaya and Butter with her, knowing that they give her a bit more security. She sits in the living room, making sure that if Dahyun gets scared that she can at least make an attempt to calm her down.
Sana really wants to try to get her in the bath or a shower tomorrow, but she's got a feeling that Dahyun won't like being in the water.
"Hey, baby," Tzuyu says as she sits beside her wife. She pulls Sana out of her own head and presses a gentle kiss to her cheek. "How's she doing?"
Sana looks at the guest room door down the hall before leaning forward to pick Dahyun's drawing up off the coffee table. She sets it on Tzuyu's lap and lays back into the couch.
"This looks... scary." Tzuyu's eyebrows raise as her eyes trace over each of the drawings in Dahyun's picture. Red and black are the most heavily used colors and they seem to be in every drawing, even the one with a little white dog.
"I tried my best to piece things together," Sana says through a sigh. She leans her head against Tzuyu's shoulder and points to the first drawing that Dahyun had shown her. "I have a really bad feeling that's her mom."
Tzuyu is hesitant to agree only because she knows Sana's right. In every drawing on the picture, the little girl is the same. She's got long black hair and a frown on her face. That must be Dahyun. "Do you think her mom died?"
Sana slowly nods, a lump starting to form in her throat. She forces herself to take a deep breath so she can try to explain more of the picture. "I just can't wrap my head around this timeline," Sana whispers. "Sometimes there's these men, sometimes there's other kids, and sometimes it's just the little girl."
Tzuyu shakes her head, unsure of what to think about Dahyun's picture. She sets it down on the coffee table and rubs her eyes with the heels of her palms. "I think I may have been able to find where she came from before she came to Andong."
Sana looks at her wife with fearful eyes. She desperately wants to know more about this little girl, but she also doesn't want to be terrified for her.
"Mokpo," Tzuyu says sadly. "I don't even know how she managed to get up here. She had to have been passed around a few times, but I can't connect anything."
Sana closes her eyes and lays her head on the back of the couch. She feels like she's going to be sick the more she learns about Dahyun. "I was able to talk to child services today," Sana breathes out.
"Did they know anything?"
Sana shakes her head. "They just told me that they'll stop by so we can talk about her situation and what to do with her. I don't... I don't think she has anyone."
//
“What did the case worker say?” Tzuyu sits down beside Sana, ruffling Butter’s fur as she watches the little girl draw by the back door.
Sana lets out a small sigh and shakes her head. “Not a lot. She’s never seen her before. I talked to her for a bit though, and she said that as long as Dahyun's safe with us, then we can keep watch of her until more is found out about her.”
Sana isn’t elated at the thought of having Dahyun for longer, but she's not upset either. She just wishes that she had some more information about the girl so she could take care of her better, but she hopes that with time maybe Dahyun will open up.
“Did she get freaked out when she came in?”
Sana shakes her head, still surprised how smoothly the interaction went.
The case worker came by and despite there being a completely new person near her, Dahyun did well all things considered. She didn’t say much of anything to the case worker, but when she asked Dahyun about her pictures, the girl answered.
“Who is this, Dahyun?”
Dahyun looked at the picture with the woman, a big ‘X’ drawn over her. “Uhm
 mommy.”
The case worker nodded, mentally taking a note. “Is mommy gone? Is that why there’s an ‘X’ on her?”
Dahyun’s face dropped at this. Her lip quivered and she stood up. She walked over to Kaya, who was asleep by the front door, and laid beside him, tucking herself into a ball. Dahyun didn’t remember much about her mommy and she didn’t like thinking about her because it made her really sad.
“Did you draw that all by yourself, Hyun?” Sana smiles and leans down as she looks at the odd drawing of a
 duck?
Dahyun's cheeks turn pink, a warmth spreading through her at the praise and the nickname. She holds up her paper and hands it to Sana. She's still not sure about this lady and her wife, but she likes that they haven’t been mean to her yet. She also really likes that they have dogs.
“F-fish,“ Dahyun stutters out. She points to her picture and looks up at Sana for confirmation. She's not too sure what a fish really looks like, but she does remember that they live in water.
“Oh, I don’t think this is a fish, sweetheart. I think it's a duck.” Sana smiles, patient as Dahyun tilts her head in confusion. Sana picks up a blue crayon from the box and draws a fish, putting it beside the duck. “See? Fish live in the water, but ducks can be on the land.”
Dahyun stares at the picture for a few seconds. She can see the difference between the two animals now that they‘re beside each other. “Duck,” she says as she points to the duck.
Sana nods, praising her as she pets Butter. “Good job, Hyun."
Dahyun's cheeks dust with pink again as she hides her face behind her tiny hands. She leans to the side, her head gently resting against Sana's shoulder.
Sana freezes. This is the first time that Dahyun's initiated any kind of contact with her. In the two days that she and Tzuyu have had her, she's only hesitantly taken Sana‘s hand when she holds it out. Even then she’ll hold onto one or maybe two of her fingers.
Sana‘s quiet. She lets Dahyun rest her head on her arm. She hopes that this is a step in the right direction.

caregiver!megan thee stallion (megan unnie) with little!misamo
i know they didn’t get the chance to be in the mv with her but i know they would have absolutely loved dancing with her.
i’m imagining a very shy little!mina walking up to her, asking in a very soft voice if she can take a picture with her. megan says yes, obviously, and momo and sana see that mina’s getting a picture with megan.
“i wan’ pi’ture!” sana exclaims and points at mina and megan sitting beside each other. she shakes her hand out of jihyo’s, running over to where the two are. she suddenly gets all shy, hiding behind mina.
momo follows suit, the three stacked behind each other as they wait for their turn to take a picture with megan. megan thinks they’re absolutely adorable and spends a little time with each of them.
sana shows off her dance moves with momo while mina’s more focused on showing off the pictures of her legos that she has saved on jeongyeon’s phone.
“did you build these all by yourself, girl?” megan asks, thoroughly impressed as mina shyly nods.
“jeong unnie helped.”
“okay, i see you,” megan says with a smile. she gives mina a high-five, the little thoroughly proud of herself.
“look wha’ i do!” sana does a weird little dance with momo causing megan to laugh. she claps and the two littles are spurred on, dancing even more for their new unnie.
“look at yall go! yeah! get it get it!” megan dances along with them, equally as goofy as sana and momo.
the rest of the twice members are surprised at how well megan seems to be handling the littles. they were afraid that she would be weirded out by them regressing, but she doesn’t seem to mind one bit.
mina just watches as the three of them dance, smiling wide as she leans against jeongyeon.
“yall are just too cute,” megan says as she ruffles sana and momo’s hair. the two littles are practically glowing with the praise. sure they get near constant attention from the other members, but it’s even better coming from someone new that they all look up to.
they all end up hanging out for a little bit and mina decides that megan’s the perfect person to cuddle up next to. unlike with the other girls, she can fully curl up against megan. her height helps as she wraps her arms around mina, gently rocking them from side to side.

hi! :)
i’m glad you’re liking the long story so far. it’s something new and i was a little nervous, but i‘m excited about writing it. it‘s definitely heavier than what i usually write, but my head’s in a bit of a heavy place right now. if you don’t like it or think it‘s too much, please let me know. but, this is one of the ways that i get out all of the too big feelings and thoughts out of my head. also:
if you‘ve already read the first part and revisit it, you‘ll notice that momo has changed to tzuyu! this is just for personal reasons and because i remembered a fic that i read once that was really good and i didn’t want to feel like i was going anywhere near plagiarism with it

The bitter cold seeps through the thin coat on Dahyun’s body. She doesn’t remember the last time she’s ever felt this cold, but she knows it hasn’t been too long. As she navigates her way down an empty street, she looks up, her hood obscuring part of her view of the night sky.
The stars are out, some of her best friends, and so is the snow. It started to lightly flurry a few minutes into Dahyun’s walk after she was kicked out of the convenience store. She’s not sure how far she’s walked, but her feet are starting to hurt– a sure sign that it’s been more than an hour.
Dahyun doesn’t think about how exhausted she feels. She’s used to being tired. She does think about how cold she is. It hasn’t been this cold in a few days. Maybe last week was the last time she was this cold. She’s not sure. Her memory isn’t the best.
As Dahyun’s walking turns into a slow shuffle, she sees a park out of the corner of her eye. Maybe that can provide respite from the cold wind. She still wants to see the snow fall, but she doesn’t necessarily want to feel it in her bones.
Dahyun manages to tuck herself into the tube slide. It’s just big enough to fit her and although it’s still cold, she’s protected from the wind. She slides her hood off and pokes her head out a bit, the snow falling a little thicker now.
The snow continues to fall as the cold sinks deeper into Dahyun’s body. She’s shivering still which is a good sign, but she knows that she’ll need to get somewhere that’s at least a little warmer soon.
After a few more minutes of watching the snow fall, Dahyun crawls out of the slide. The loose snow crunches under her feet, packed down into a set of footprints. She puts her hood back up, tucking her chin to try and save the tiny bit of warmth left inside of her.
Dahyun can’t remember how long it’s been since she’s been in a real home, but she knows it’s been a long time. She’s grateful that the few convenience stores she frequents are kind enough to give her food every now and then, but it’s getting to that time of year where just eating won’t be enough.
Shelter weighs heavily on her mind as she shuffles through the snow. Her shoes do their best to keep her feet dry, but she can feel the toes of her socks starting to get damp.
Suddenly, Dahyun stops under a street lamp. She looks up again, the light forming a halo where the snow falls around it. It’s pretty and reminds her of vague memories of stories about angels someone told her when she was a little baby. The warm glow their halos emit must have looked the same as the street lamps.
She finds comfort for a moment in the halo and the falling snow, used to how quiet it gets when there’s a white blanket on the ground. She likes when it’s quiet. She doesn’t have to try and hide from the sound or pretend that it doesn’t hurt her ears.
//
The hour that Dahyun’s walked slowly turns into two hours. Two hours blends into three and soon, Dahyun can’t walk anymore. She manages to find a small bare spot under a tree that hasn’t been covered by snow. She trudges over to the spot and curls up against the base of the tree. It’s a large willow and it provides a little bit of shelter from the wind.
Dahyun’s exhausted, her body freezing and her thoughts scattered as she tries to remember where she was trying to go. She closes her eyes, her hood covering her face from the wind as she thinks.
Her thoughts bounce from one thing to another, never really forming one coherent thought she can hold onto. By the time she manages to piece something together, it’s broken up again by the sound of footsteps. They’re not right beside her, but they’re close enough to cause concern.
Dahyun’s head snaps up. Most of her face is hidden inside of her coat as her eyes search for the source of the footsteps. For a moment she can’t see anything, but the person moves again. A silhouette comes into view. It’s shadowy due to the willow and the street lamps behind the person.
The figure looks like someone she sees in her nightmares whenever she does get to sleep. Dahyun’s eyes are glued to them as they slowly inch forward. She wants to move and wants to force her body to get up, but her legs are so tired. Her feet are numb from the cold and she can’t keep a single thought in her head straight.
Go! Get up! Dahyun’s body screams at her, but her head can’t hear it well enough to get her to move.
As the person comes closer, they come into focus a little more. Dahyun can now see that it’s a woman. She’s only a little less frightened, but she still doesn’t want someone talking to her. She’s afraid they’ll call the police and send her somewhere she’ll get hurt again. She’s been doing okay on her own though
she thinks. She doesn’t need someone to look after her because they’ll just hurt her.
“P-please. Le-leave,” Dahyun manages to spit out. Her lips are freezing and cracked from the cold. Even saying those two words takes all the energy left in her.
“Are you alone?”
The woman stops. She’s a few feet away from Dahyun now, crouched down. Dahyun can see her more clearly. She has a scarf wrapped around her neck and expensive looking clothing. Dahyun can’t remember the last time she wore something that didn’t have holes in it.
“It’s cold out here. You should go inside somewhere.”
The woman’s voice isn’t scary. It’s
kind. It feels warm somehow, but Dahyun’s experienced that before. She’s had plenty of people speak to her, their voices warm, before they hurt her or throw her out.
Dahyun tries to stay as still as she can. She knows that she can’t disappear, but maybe the woman will go away if she doesn’t say anything. Maybe she’ll get tired of asking and leave. That’s what everyone else does.
“I have a scarf. You can wear it.”
The woman doesn’t go away. Instead, she gets closer. She keeps her distance still, but she’s close enough now that Dahyun can see her face clearly. She’s very pretty and she looks cold as well. Her nose is red but the rest of her body is in a large coat. It looks much warmer that Dahyun’s.
Unmoving, the woman stays crouched in front of Dahyun. She slowly slides her bag from her shoulder and looks through it. The sound everything makes as she rummages through it is louder than anything Dahyun’s heard in the past few hours she’s been outside. It wouldn’t usually bother her, she thinks, but she raises her hands up to cover her ears.
“It’s okay,” the woman says softly. She pulls a pair of mittens out of her bag and reaches out, extending them to Dahyun. “My name is Sana. What’s your name?”
Dahyun keeps her hands over her ears. She immediately realizes just how cold her fingers are and just how warm the mittens look. She doesn’t want the woman to keep talking to her, but she wants to be warm. She wants to stop being cold.
It takes Dahyun a few seconds of looking between the mittens and Sana’s face to finally reach for them. She grabs them, wincing as she prepares for Sana to jerk them out of her hands. When she doesn’t, when they’re pushed further into her hands instead, Dahyun opens her eyes. She slowly slips the mittens onto her hands, relishing in the instant relief they give her fingers.
Dahyun likes that the mittens have an animal on them. She can’t remember what it’s called, but she knows that they’re fluffy. They have tall, floppy ears, so maybe they’re an elephant. She thinks that’s what they’re called. But she doesn’t remember elephants having tiny pink noses.
“Are you alone out here, sweetheart?” Sana’s soft voice pulls Dahyun from her thoughts. It’s gradual and Sana gives her plenty of time to process her question, unlike most people.
Dahyun doesn’t want to speak and she’s not sure she remembers how. Is that something she can do? Instead, she nods. It’s a tiny nod, but it’s enough for Sana to see. Dahyun notices a quick flicker of something across Sana’s face, but she’s too cold and too tired to think about it.
“Do you have a home to go to?”
Dahyun shakes her head. She doesn’t remember her last home. Was she going to her last home? Or was she going to another convenience store? Now that she thinks about it, she’s really hungry.
“Is it okay if I take you to my home? It’s very warm and my wife and I have two dogs.”
Dahyun likes dogs. That’s one thing she definitely remembers. She used to be scared of dogs, but then she met a dog that was soft and nice to her. Sana’s voice is soft and she’s being nice to her.
All of the warning alarms are going off in Dahyun’s head, but they’re easily overtaken by the promise of dogs and another nice woman. She’s very happy that she won’t have to talk to any men. Men are mean.
It takes Dahyun a few minutes of sorting out her thoughts and her hands warming up a bit more for her to give Sana another small nod. She stands up, her legs aching as she cautiously takes a step towards Sana.
Sana’s movements are slow and cautious, but Dahyun still flinches, covering her head as Sana takes her scarf off. Dahyun’s body shakes slightly but she’s surprised when she’s met with soft warmth instead of pain. Dahyun opens her eyes and looks down, the scarf that was around Sana’s neck is now around her own.
//
Dahyun didn’t make it five minutes before her body finally gave up on her. Sana managed to carry her home and put her into their spare bedroom. She explained as much as she could and the extremely sparse information she could to Tzuyu.
Dahyun wakes up early to the sun shining through a window. She sits up, confused by the soft feeling of sheets around her. She’s warm. She doesn’t remember the last time she was warm.
Rubbing her eyes with the backs of her hands, Dahyun looks down at herself. She’s in clothes without holes. She hasn’t had clothes without holes in a long time.
As she looks around the space she’s in, she doesn’t recognize any of it. The walls are a light blue and other than the bed and a desk, there’s only a closet and a dresser to accompany the furniture.
Dahyun’s not sure where she is, but as soon as she hears the squeak of a door, she panics. Broken memories flood into her head, piecing themselves together into horrific pictures. She remembers the last time she was somewhere with a real bed and it wasn’t good. The people she was with were mean. They hurt her.
The sound of footsteps can be heard just outside of the room Dahyun’s in. Her heart races, suddenly throwing her body into a state of emergency. She gets up and looks around the room for some kind of escape, but the window is locked and too high up. The only other exit is the door and that’s where the footsteps are coming from.
So, Dahyun does what she knows best. She curls herself into a ball in the corner of the room between the dresser and the desk. She tries to make herself as small as possible. If she does this, then maybe whoever’s on the other side of the door will leave. Maybe she’ll be able to get out then.
Dahyun covers her mouth to muffle the scared whimper that sneaks out. She squeezes her eyes shut as the door handle turns slowly. She can hear her heartbeat pounding in her ears, drowning nearly everything else out.
Sana walks in on a sight that she’d never expect. Dahyun’s trembling in the corner, curled in tight against herself. She wants to rush over and comfort the girl, but she knows from their brief interaction last night that it would only make things worse.
Getting down to her level, Sana kneels again, mirroring the way that Dahyun met her in the cold and dark of the night. “It’s okay,” Sana whispers. She keeps her distance, hoping that her voice is reassuring enough.
Dahyun’s heartbeat is loud, but Sana’s voice seems
familiar. She can’t remember where she heard it, but she remembers that it’s a kind voice. It makes her feel warm. She remembers how warm she felt when she first heard it. Whenever that was.
Trying to be brave, Dahyun opens her eyes. Slowly, she recognizes Sana’s face. She remembers the scarf and the mittens. She can’t remember when it was, but it couldn’t have been too long ago.
“Hi, sweetheart,” Sana whispers. Her smile is kind and her body seems relaxed. It relaxes Dahyun a little bit. She unfurls herself, letting her hands rest by her ankles. “I’m Sana. I took you in last night so you could meet my doggies and my wife.”
Dahyun kind of remembers now. She remembers the promise of soft dogs and another woman. “Doggies?” Dahyun mumbles, her throat dry and scratchy from a lack of water within the past day or so.
Sana nods slowly. She holds her hand out, letting Dahyun take her time to decide. “We can go look at the doggies and maybe get you something yummy to eat. How does that sound?”
Dahyun’s hesitant, but she loves dogs. She’d love to see another one up close. She doesn’t remember the last time she saw a dog. It takes a few more seconds of thinking, but eventually Dahyun reaches out. She only holds onto Sana’s pinky and ring fingers. That way if she needs to run, then she won’t be able to be grabbed.
As soon as they step out from the hallway and into the living room, Dahyun panics again. She sees Sana’s wife sitting on the couch, not a dog in sight. She lets go of Sana’s hand, crouching in place. She curls into herself again, not knowing what else to do.
“Hey, it’s okay. This is Tzuyu. She’s my wife.”
Sana’s voice is soothing. It takes Dahyun a moment to lift her head again and look up, but when she does, the dogs are there. Sana was telling the truth.
Slowly, Dahyun stands up again. She squeezes the hem of her shirt, not wanting to get too close to Sana or Tzuyu.
“It’s okay, sweetheart. Come pet the doggies.” Sana smiles and sits on the other side of the couch by Tzuyu. She gives Dahyun as much space as she can to let her explore Kaya and Butter by herself.
The dogs are soft and warm. They’re not white like the dog that she remembers, but she likes that they’re gentle. They nudge her hand and sniff her. This draws a small giggle out of Dahyun as she runs her fingers through her fur. They smell like peaches and strawberries.
//
Dahyun was preoccupied with the dogs for a while. She petted them and even let them lick her cheeks. Sana kept a close eye on her to make sure that the dogs didn’t do anything to scare her while Tzuyu made breakfast.
Every sudden noise from the kitchen caused Dahyun to flinch, but she quickly relaxed, the dogs comforting her.
Dahyun inhaled breakfast, opting to sit by the dogs on the floor beside the couch. Once she finished, she went back to petting the dogs. They didn’t mind, enjoying the extra attention from the stranger.
“Hey, sweetheart,” Sana says softly. She manages to get Dahyun’s attention, holding up a pack of crayons and some printer paper. “I know you don’t talk much, but maybe we can draw. You can tell me about yourself and I’ll tell you about myself.”
Dahyun’s hesitant, but drawing is fun. She mulls it over before sitting across from Sana. Butter hops off the couch and curls up beside Dahyun, seeming to know that she needs the support.
Being creative is something that Dahyun isn’t really good at, but she likes all the pretty colors. Slowly, she fills up her paper. Blues, pinks, reds, and all other colors in the rainbow get put on Dahyun’s paper. When she’s done, she looks down, proud of her art.
“Wow, that looks great, sweetheart. How about you sign your name on the back?” Sana asks, hoping that she’ll finally learn this little girl’s name.
Dahyun nods and flips her paper over. She takes the purple crayon, her handwriting shaky and her spelling inaccurate as she carefully writes out each letter.
Sana leans as close as she can without scaring Dahyun, her brain taking a few seconds to decipher the letters. “Your name’s Dahyun?”
Dahyun nods. She smiles shyly at Sana before flipping her paper over to look at her art again.
“Okay then, Dahyun, how about you show me your story?” Sana’s voice is encouraging and warm. Dahyun likes that and her brain likes it. It makes her feel warm and a little bit more safe. She runs her fingers through Butter’s fur again before pointing to the first picture.
As Dahyun goes through the drawings of her life, Sana struggles a bit to put them together to make a full picture. Some of it makes sense, but she can tell that even Dahyun isn’t sure when a lot of things happened.
Once Dahyun finishes, Sana thanks her for her picture and for sharing with her. She holds her own picture up, much more organized than Dahyun’s but less colorful.
//
“Police,” Dahyun whispers when Sana points to her drawing of Tzuyu‘s badge, her understanding of the word not the most positive. She frowns, lowering her hand to find comfort in Butter's fur again.
Sana senses the sudden onset of anxiety and smiles, trying to put Dahyun at ease. “It’s okay, Dahyun. Tzuyu's a nice police officer. She stops the bad guys and helps little girls like you.”
Dahyun’s frown is set on her face. She shakes her head and scoots back a little, hand still in Butter's fur.
It takes Sana a moment to try to understand why Dahyun may be so worried about Tzuyu being a police officer, but she remembers the stick figure drawing of a police officer surrounded by a sea of red. “Were the police mean to you?”
Dahyun nods, her eyebrows furrowed in frustration as she points to the picture of a house with angry black scribbles over it. “Oh,” Sana quietly says. “Did they make you go back there?”
Dahyun nods again. She can feel a tightness in her chest and she doesn’t want to look at her picture anymore. Flipping it over, Dahyun crawls back on the couch. She buries her face in Kaya's fur, taking a deep breath of peach and strawberry.
//
“Did you find anything?” Sana yawns, the glow of Tzuyu's laptop illuminating her face in the dark kitchen.
Tzuyu turns to her wife and stretches, shaking her head. “Not much. I can’t do a whole lot with a first name and a vague age range,” she whispers, not wanting to wake Dahyun up on the couch,“especially not in this big of a city. For all we know, she could be from Jeju or even a different country.”
Sana sighs in frustration. She knows that what they have to work with is extremely limited, but she hoped that they could find
something about her. Even her age would help.
Tzuyu wraps her arm around Sana’s waist, rubbing her hip comfortingly. “I’ll get a few guys to take a look when I get into the office on Monday.”
Closing her eyes, Sana nods. She sits down on Tzuyu's lap, resting her head on top of her wife’s. She can feel the inevitably painful truth in her gut, but she wants her gut to be wrong. She doesn’t want this little girl to be so scared for all the right reasons.
sooo here’s my first shot at something a little longer. and not age regression. this will be a couple parts. (i’m not sure how many right now) feedback on this story will be really helpful! if you like it, please let me know! if you don’t, please let me know!! :) (also i didn’t proofread this i’m sorry!)
