Consider donating ( if you can! ) to help keep the site up and running! Also check out W.R. van Hage’s map and the Star Wars Atlas Online Companion. TIMELINE. While hosted on Wookieepedia, this is nevertheless deserving of its own bullet point. This page provides an approximate timeline with dates of all canon material. A collection I’ve been keeping of phases, slang, idioms, insults, and more from the Star Wars universe. This also contains a glossary of frequently used terms, such as “refresher” in place of “restroom”. Please feel free to use/share!

The book I'm writing has quite a lot a fight scenes in it, the only problem is I'm not good at writing them. I don't know how to describe it: when punches are supposed to be thrown, when they connect, when they miss, or really just anything in general. Could you give me a few tips on how to write a fight scene? Thanks.
First off, I reccommend thee to @howtofightwrite for all future fight questions.
Fight Scene Reference List Time!
How To Write Fight Scenes With Alan Baxter
Tea Party or Fist Fights?
Realistic Fighting Abilities in Fiction
3 Keys to Fight Scenes with Injured Characters
How to Write a Fight Scene Readers Will Love
Writing Techniques for Fight Scenes
How to Write Action That Won’t Show You’ve Never Thrown a Punch
My personal advice for inexperienced action writers, do your best to breeze over the conflict when you can (”Once I’d knocked out the guards…”) or make those fight scenes short. Doesn’t matter if it’s an hour-long boxing match (ouch) make it read like twenty seconds (unless the boxing match is the most important part of the story in which case ignore me).
Point is, most of your readers neither understand nor care how a fight scene works, but the ones that do will get annoyed quickly if you do it wrong. Watch your footwork and tread carefully.

Luminous--Fic Snippit
So, uh–I took the plot bunny, and I wrote a Star Wars thing. It’s a short little thing, completely unbetaed, I’m probably making all sorts of worldbuilding/canon errors all over the place, but … well, here. *throws fic and flees*
For the curious, the original plot bunny is here. Also, warnings for canon-ish child soldiers, and all the associated badness that comes with that.
68 paused for a moment by 24. The longnecks hadn’t picked out commanders yet, but 24 had become the unofficial leader of their batch, with an unerring instinct for team assignments and sorting out trouble before it could come to the trainers’ attention.
“Need ten, vod,” he murmured. 24 glanced at him, assessing, then gave a brief nod. The other brothers within earshot closed ranks, reshuffling assignments, moving even before 24 gave the direction. 68 faded back, moving casually until he was back with his squad, who had maneuvered themselves between two bits of ducting, 24 and the bulk of their brothers now providing cover and distraction along most of the sightlines, a solid wall of bodies between them and the doors. The squad parted, letting him into the center of the huddle, where 72 was crouched in a tight ball of misery, hands fisted into his tunic. Two of his squadbrothers crouched shoulder-to-shoulder on either side, trying to offer what comfort they could.

something that people really dont understand about ADHD is that we dont “jump from one idea to the next”
we have very fast, very associative minds that connect ideas. we have a train of thought, it just goes WAY faster than yours!
example: im thinking about dogs. that makes me think of pitbulls, which makes me think of an animal planet show i enjoy. the show connects to tv in general, which makes me think of my favorite cartoon. i associate my favorite cartoon with art and animation, and i wind up thinking about shading techniques.
TL;DR: having ADHD is kinda like playing a lifelong game of 7 Degrees of Kevin Bacon

“We Wear Culture” is a collaboration between Google and more than 180 museums, schools, fashion institutions, and other organizations from all parts of the globe. It’s part of Google’s Arts & Culture platform, which is digitizing the world’s cultural treasures, and functions as a searchable guide to a collective archive of some 30,000 fashion pieces that puts “three millennia of fashion at your fingertips,” Google says.
But it isn’t just a database. Google has worked with curators to create more than 450 exhibits on different topics—say, how the cheongsam changed the way Chinese women dress—making the site an endlessly entertaining, educational portal filled with stunning imagery touching on everything from modern Japanese streetwear to the clothes worn at the court of Versailles.
i can already tell this has made writing for historical fandoms – the worst part of which, for me, is absofuckinglutely hands-down the clothing – much easier.

I hate Freud. His whole weird theory about penis envy and children being sexually attracted to their parents and secret desires and all that shit actually came straight out of an attempt to ally himself with wealthy and influential rapists and was a direct form of victim blaming.
He had started the research looking into “hysteria” which at the time was really usually referring to women’s symptoms of PTSD. It turned out that the reason so many woman had these symptoms is because so many of them had experienced sexual violence– especially CSA and incest at the hands of their fathers.
At first he was making real progress, and it was through working with these women that he discovered that talk therapy could be used to treat trauma. The symptoms of PTSD were lessened when women were able to safely speak about their experiences out loud and be believed.
But it wasn’t the women who paid for the therapy. It was their fathers, husbands, the same men who were perpetuating the violence in the first place. And Freud didn’t want to validate his patients (the women) if it meant making his clients (the men) unhappy.
So he came up with a new idea. These symptoms weren’t from trauma. The memories weren’t real. These women were just sexual beings as children and had penis envy and it made them lust for their fathers and fantasize about the rape that they had reported to him. That’s where the shittiest parts of Freud’s theories emerged. Another part of it besides just the monetary aspect, though, was that there was a feminist movement on the fringes starting up at the time and by publishing work about women’s CSA he would be aligning himself with it and therefore losing support, respect, funding, prestige from his male peers and from the psychological community at large. He literally made that gross victim blaming shit up to keep his own reputation with these fucks and to make sure he still got publication and fame.
By coming up with fake theory about little girls fantasizing about incest he not only fucked over generations of women, the feminist movement that was arising, and the entire psychology field for years to come, but he also completely swept away any progress made in understanding trauma and so we didn’t have any clue why men coming back from war had “hysteria” like women during WWI.
And our research on PTSD and trauma is still lacking to this day, especially because of the stigma that maybe traumatized people deserved it or wanted it or imagined it. People don’t want to believe it’s real. Perpetrators of traumatic violence want everyone to forget about it, not acknowledge it, or trivialize it.
And they have Freud’s cultural legacy to help them.

No but really. Deadpool 2 was dripping in queer culture. It’s not just the scenes between Wade and Colossus or Wade and Cable. It’s not just the inclusion of a wlw couple who are happy, healthy, and completely unsubjected to the male gaze.
It’s the real villains being conversion therapists weilding Christianity as a tool to abuse children. It’s the X-Men universe as a metaphor–sometimes for racism, sometimes for ableism, sometimes for other forms of oppression, but in this movie it’s specifically treated as metaphor for queerphobia.
It’s that fucking soundtrack. That soundtrack is queer culture as fuck. It’s every moment of macho hypermasculine competence porn and slow-mo action that would normally cater to the power fantasies of a straight cis male audience being undercut by a heartfelt pop ballad…or Enya. Or Dolly Parton. And ending up more dramatic, more cinematic, more awesome because of it.
It’s the most heartfelt moment in the film basically being Deadpool giving a real, sweet, kind It Gets Better speech to Russell. It’s the most sweetly romantic “het” scene in the film ending with Vanessa pointing out Wade’s obvious attraction to Colossus.
It’s poking fun at gritty grimdark storytelling, at macho storytelling, at lazy writing, at the superhero genre in general.
It’s the feeling you get when watching it that every single moment which could have been construed as pandering to a straight cis male audience’s desires was hunted down and subverted intentionally at every stage of this film’s creation.
Deadpool 2 is Queer Culture. Happy 20Gayteen kids. *throws confetti*
