For anyone out there who feels bad about the rising amount of purity culture online: Im a firm believer is mostly a performative act that just holds up in online spaces.

My sources? Experiences! A while ago I went to an irl event of a fandom where the same week I got literal hate messages for not condemning yumeshippers who shipped themselves with 16 y/o FICTIONAL CHARACTERS. And in that event, which was hosted in a café and I ended up sitting with complete strangers, the conversations somehow ended up revolving about oshikatsu and yumeshipping, and the consensus was that THEY ARE LITERAL PIXELS, NO ONE IRL CARES. Mind you, I was the youngest there and Im in my early 20s, the rest where near or in their 30s. The fandon elders are d o n e, literally no one cares if you ship weird stuff either, at most some people will be uncomfortable with incest, but I have friends with whom I can rave about it too, just go catching vibes and be shameless (I sure am lmao) life is too short to be worrying about how ppl will perceive you! Ofc take precautions bc some bitches think doxxing people over fictional characters is good, but other than that, go wild! Fandoms is the space for weird people! If they are uncomfortable with it, and refuse to block and move on, they are literally not made to be in fandom tbh, they have learned nothing about how fandom works.

Okay so i don’t really say i have a “side” (anti, neu, pro, etc) because whenever i ask people about it, i get different answers. i dont think any content should be censored, everything has a right to exist, and i think harassment is obviously wrong. so a lot of people tell me im a proshipper. but i also believe that real people should never be included without explicit consent (and if you do include them, youre a sexual harasser), that darkshipping is unhealthy and does more harm than good, and that fiction affects reality heavily, so those same people call me an anti?? wtf am i
