Even if I'm shouting into the void here, it's still better than shouting about all these things to my boyfriend at 12am so.

the fact that anyone dying can cost a nation up to 6 billion pounds is actually absurd

seriously wondering if we can call the uk a democracy anymore. we have a prime minister that less than 0.3% of the population voted for, we have a new king that we have no say on, people are getting arrested for protesting against the monarchy under the excuse of ‘offending someone’ and we are effectively having a day of mourning forced upon us for the funeral with important hospital appointments cancelled and people even getting kicked out of holiday lettings for the day. this reads like a dystopian world where a dictator has died, not something happening now in a supposed democratic country

“They’re not cancelling chemo appointments for the queens funeral, they’re just rearranging them for another date”
Ah yes, cancer, the disease that’s famously known for not being highly time sensitive

Surgeries and operations are being cancelled on the day of the queen’s funeral. These patients will have been on a waiting list for months if not years.
Everyone should be absolutely seething with rage.

The thought of taking away a days wages and also any kind of pleasure activity (due to the closing of businesses) from the plebs in order to show respect to the death of a very old, very rich, very well lived lady who none of us have ever known personally just will never cease to itch the part of my brain that craves revolution
i personally think there is a huge moral problem in the government/country when millions of pounds are going to be spent on the funeral and the subsequent coronation when people cannot afford to heat their homes and feed their children

One of the reasons I decided not to bother with this show. She Hulk is meant to be another attempt at a progressive feminist narrative and character, but I knew from the bat they were going to be performative at best when I found out they can't even let a female hulk be muscley. Was She Hulk in the comics as big as Bruce? No. Would it have killed them to just let go of this feminine body type trope for one character? No. The creators of this show clearly have no interest in or knowledge of the types of discourse happening rn if they still insist on pushing the message that there is only one feminine body type in order to appeal to broader audiences because it's more profitable.
Are they kidding me

I think it's important to acknowledge that some of us may never be able to move out of our living situations. Lots of disabled people (myself included) cannot physically work or be on their own and are thus forced to stay with family until who knows when. Sometimes those living situations are good and sometimes they're bad. The point is that not everyone has the luxury of leaving and getting their own space or traveling or leaving their home state or getting their dream job. A lot of us are, for lack of a better word, stuck. I'm never gonna be able to work a regular job. My body is physically unable to do so. The times I've tried have sent me to the hospital and quickened my need for reconstructive surgeries. I also need a caretaker a lot of the time, as my disability makes it difficult and sometimes impossible to do certain things that are in service of taking care of myself. So my option is to stay at home, which can be a bit disheartening at almost 30. I know I'm not alone in this and the frustration, sadness, and anxiety that can come with this kind of situation, especially when looking to the future.
I make this post as a reminder to those that are able-bodied to not forget us when it comes to discussing life goals. There are those of us that cannot leave home. We aren't lazy or losers. We are disabled. We deserve respect and acknowledgment. Please understand that there are so many of us who won't get to "go off and do our own thing". Stop mocking the adult who has to live at home with their parents well into their adult lives. You have no idea what someone might be dealing with and why they can't participate in the luxuries that you're able to. Because whether you like it or not, having a job and moving into your own place (yes even with roommates and even that shitty job you hate!) are luxuries to those of us who cannot.
To those in the same boat as myself; take pride in the things you are doing. You deserve to feel excited and happy about your achievements, even if perhaps they seem "small" in comparison with your able-bodied friends. You aren't lazy. You aren't a loser. You are doing what you have to in order to survive and that's amazing. Take your victories where you can. Mourn when you need to. It's often one day at a time and that's ok. I see you and I love you.

nonverbal people are not stupid or lesser than, and when they try to communicate in any way that is available to them, they deserve to be heard and treated with respect as an equal individual.
