A little sneak peak into the newest chapter:

“O when it isn’t the Special Security and Surveillance Patrol Captain.” The next surprise didn’t take long to come. Looking up, the little party saw the quite will-known magician. Accompanied by his assistant and sister. “And the duke too! What a pleasant surprise,” Lyney purred with a wink. A low grunt left Wriothesley’s throat at the sight of him. “Mr. Lyney, Ms. Lynette. What are you doing here?” “Huh? Can’t I, as a citizen of Fontaine, not purchase some tea here?” Lyney asked overly innocent. But behind him Lynette cleared the question. “Freminet has a cold, and we went to buy some tea for it and this place got recommended to us.” At hearing this, Sigewinne perked up. “A cold? How unfortunate… I hope he does better soon! Make sure he stays warm and eats and drinks a lot!” Lynette gave a small, thankful smile at the nurse’s genuine concern. “But where my motives are cleared, how came it to the four of you being here together?” “It’s the birthday of Mademoiselle Chevreuse,” Sigewinne informed on their behalf. Lyney’s eyes grew big, then his smile. “Oh is that so? Then let me congratulate you!” Coming up to Chevreuse, the girl had no time to decline to the courtesy. Because the magician already pulled out a flower from his sleeve and bowed in front of the birthday girl, handing over the rose. “Happy birthday, captain.”

Their conversation on the way was leisurely. Thoma tried to pry on his milady, but Ayaka was skilled to dodge all suspicious questions and carry on the conversation as if she was not hiding anything. Arrived at the teahouse, Kozue was nowhere to be seen outside either. Just like his shopping bags. And right now, Ayaka seemed as nervous as Kozue was before. And it dawned him a second too late to combine all the points. Because as soon as Ayaka opened the door a loud “Happy Birthday!” got yelled at the blonde suddenly. Some were also releasing balloons or party poppers. Thoma couldn’t say a word. Nor really react. Looking at everyone, in their bright, smiling faces, all eager and excited, Thoma was overwhelmed. By his side, Ayaka poked his side. “Hey, all good? This is all for you!” she hyped him up. He nodded slowly, covering his mouth with his hand as it began to waver. “Oh no, I think he is starting to cry!” Yoimiya hopped down the counter to rush to him to check on him. But the blonde just his head. “It’s all good, really. Don’t worry, I am just… Just so surprised.” “Well, it’s a surprise party, after all,” Yoimiya purred happily. In the end, he couldn’t stop his tears of joy. He came to hug the two girls at his side first. “Thank you all.” He looked up. “Really, all of you!” His gaze went over the people. Colleagues from the estate or the commission, friends from Inazuma near and far. Gorou and Kazuha were smiling back at him, just like Itto emerged from the crowd, having a little box in his hands. “Yo dude, you have to open my present first!” In the back the general sighed. “Itto you… Let him get settled first.” But Kuki shook her head beside him. “I tried to reason with him already, but he won’t listen, sorry.” Thoma shook his head. “All good and please, there was no need for presents..!” “Nah guy, you’re always so over the top, of course you get sum presents from us haha!” Itto laughed, giving him his box.

“Found you.” Wanderer turned his head around in surprise. He hasn’t gone far away to hide from the others, and he wouldn’t be so surprised if anyone would have noticed him missing from the party thrown for him. But it was the voice. A warm smile looked at him. “I am sorry for being late. But I had to pick up a present for you.” “Not you too…” The blonde stepped up to Wanderer where he was leaning against the railing of the balcony. “I figured you would have escaped by now too. Nahida wanted to search for you already, but Kaveh then began to stand on the table and sing as drunk as he is.” Aether chuckled. Wanderer’s eyes fell on the little box in his hands, then on the profile of the traveller as he was gazing to where he was just moments ago. “Where’s your flying companion?” “Paimon is downstairs with the others. She saw the cake and all hope was lost.” Turning his head slightly to look at the birthday kid, Aether still had his soft, gentle smile on his lips. “But it seems like you don’t hate it totally, otherwise you would have left the house completely. But you are still here.” Wanderer felt caught, but before he could say anything, Aether continued, also looking back into the distance. “Do you miss your home?” “I don’t have a home,” Wanderer answered too quick. Aether sighed. For a short moment the smile wavered. “Here is your home, isn’t it? Just like Inazuma was once. It’s where you are from, after all. It’s a part of you.” Silence lingered over them for a moment. Wanderer was able to see, that in Aether’s words there was more. More depth to them. And not even intentionally he would guess. “Do you miss your home?”

happy (belated) birthday, wanderer!

a little late for his birthday, i still wanted to show my drawing of scaramouche i did in 2022 during the 3.1 update. tbh, i never liked him but due the archon quest in sumeru i really came to like him a lot, whoops 🤭
