How to Print and Staple Mail Merge Documents
Mail merge is a great tool for quickly creating auto-personalized letters, envelopes, printing labels and more for multiple recipients without having to create each document individually. To complete a mail merge, Word offers two options for what to do with the results: print them directly or save them as separate documents that you can edit.

The former is fine if you have a single template that includes all the boilerplate text you want to use for each recipient and a separate data file that contains information about each person, such as names and addresses. If the data file contains a column for each name and address, you can insert the corresponding field into your mail merge template so that Word will automatically fill in the correct information from the data file during the merge process.
However, if your template is a multi-page document and you want to print each document on letterhead, use a different printer tray for each document or staple them together at the top left corner (or whatever other inline finishing option your printer has), it becomes a bit more challenging. The problem is that when you use Word’s mail merge feature, each result gets saved to its own document file and the resulting document files all include section breaks.

To avoid this issue, you can use a macro to break each of the merged document files into individual document files and to rename the document file based on a derived field from the data file so that you can easily distinguish one document from another.
