How to Help Someone Regress

If you're reading this, you're probably a caregiver or babysitter. It can be scary to take care of someone for the first time, and sometimes they need help regressing. Here are some tips on how to help someone, but remember that everyone is different and you should have a discussion with your own regressor.

💙 Use baby talk or simpler words.

💙 Offer to help them complete tasks, saying things like "you're too small to do that, let me help you."

💙 Ask them about their regression interests, like their favorite cartoon or about their stuffed animals.

💙 Propose little activities; color with them, play a board game, ect.

💙 Cook them little foods like cartoon-themed macaroni, or give them snacks like goldfish crackers.

💙 Give them lots of affection, if they're comfortable with it. Hugs, cuddles, and little kisses on the top of the head can help someone get into a soft and fuzzy headspace, making it easier to regress.

💙 Give them very small tasks to do to feel like a little helper, like getting a book you need off of a low shelf, or filling up a cup so you can water the plants.

💙 Sitting the regressor on a high chair or other piece of furniture so their feet dangle.

💙 Tucking them into bed.

💙 Calling them nicknames they like, such as little one or dolly.

💙 Give them small rules or rewards, like a sticker chart for doing chores, or a time to go to sleep.

💙 Cutting up their food for them or even feeding them.

💙 Take them to the store to pick out a toy.

💙 Ask them to say "magic words" when they ask for something.

💙 Holding their hand to cross the street.

💙 Picking them up and carrying them, if possible.

💙 Give them whatever regression items they use, such as pacis, blankies, or stim toys.

I like having my hair washed, brushed , and braided or put up.

I like kisses, on my lips, cheeks,forehead,nose, paci, shoulders,tummy, and princess parts.

I like being put down for a nap , even if I fight it .

I like being reminded to eat or drink water.

I like being reminded to get some sleep .

I like being reminded to wear a pullup or diaper , even if it makes me super blushy.

But they’re always better when they come from you 😊.

I love the idea of my partner being stronger than me. Easily pulling me into their lap, holding me down, and just maneuvering me however they feel like. Like I'm just a little doll for them.

Normalize guys needing affection. Let them lay their head on your chest. Rub their back & play with their hair until they fall asleep.

How to care for a little with anxiety (edited)

(Good for CG’s with anxiety too)

General help

constant reassurance

don’t ask why they’re apologizing, just say “it’s okay baby”

make sure they’re alright and they know you care

help them breathe through panic/anxiety attacks

tell them that they’re okay, you have them

try your hardest not to raise your voice at them

During a panic/anxiety attack

simple questions to ask:

is it okay to touch?

is something around us bugging you

do you want one of your little things? 

stuffy, paci, sippy/bottle, teether, blanky, etc.

make sure they’re physically comfortable

not too warm or too cold, sitting in a comfortable position, you’re not too close or too far.

ask if there’s anything they need from you

stay calm yourself

don’t get upset with them, they cant help it

keep your voice calm

Questions to ask your little to help with grounding during dissociation or an attack (for LDR or over the phone/text)

ask them what clothes they’re wearing

ask them what colors they’re clothes are

ask them what things are around them:

how many windows, doors, tables, lights, etc, are there around you?

ask them what colors are around them

ask them what they can smell or hear

i jus wanna be treated & talked down to like a lil toddler from the moment i wake up til i go to bed honestly

waking up to saturday morning cartoons & pancakes shaped like mickey mouse!!!

then daddy brushing my hair and teeth and not allowing makeup bcuz makeup is for big girls!!! and i’m such a pretty little girl for daddy already!!!

dressing me in age-appropriate clothes & velcro shoes (don’t forget the training pants!!!)

daddy packing a diaper bag cuz he already knows i’m accident prone

buckling me up in my car seat in the back & blasting disney music that we both are obligated to sing along to!! bonus points if we can roll down the windows & have the wind blowing through my piggytails daddy braided himself!!!!

handing me a lil activity/stim toy, stuffie, dolly, binky, healthy kiddo snackies & sippy cup to keep me occupied so baby Starry doesn’t distract her daddy while he’s driving!!!!

then surprising us with a trip to the dino museum!
