BEING the half-mermaid that she was, melody was all for warmer weather -- but that didn’t mean she despised cold weather by any means, she simply just didn’t like it as much. what she did like was the occasional opportunity to tease her fellow royals, and erik had given her the perfect excuse to do that. the comment about christmas had clearly been a tease, one that melody hoped to make obvious as she plastered a smile to her face and approached her friend. when erik’s expression didn’t seem to enthused, melody frowned. “ relax e, i was kidding. i expected you of all people to take advantage of the cold. ” 

Erik was thankful for the weather cooling down in the city recently. It was just another sign that Christmas was getting closer, and he loved Christmas. So, even though it wasn’t anywhere near the temperature for snow, Erik decided to wear one of his favorite Christmas sweaters. It was navy blue with stripes and snowflakes. It was warm, and fairly worn from the years of usage, but he wore it with pride, even as he heard someone say “You know it’s not Christmas yet, right?” He looked up, trying to see where the voice had come from.

EVERYONE knows the story of ariel and eric. she was the rebellious mermaid princess who just wanted to be a part of his world and he was the stubborn human prince who fell in love with a mysterious stranger. the part of the story that people don’t know though, is quite interesting. shortly after getting married, ariel began to fall into a deep pit of sadness and despair. life as a human wasn’t all it was cracked up to be and the redhead often missed her days as a mermaid. just as she was about to tell eric that she was leaving the castle and returning to life in the sea, ariel found out she was pregnant and decided to stay for the sake of their daughter. eric viewed ariel’s pregnancy as a saving grace and vowed that from then on he would make sure that both she and their child had the life they had always wanted.

WHILE still in her mother’s belly, the future princess took a liking to the tunes her mother would sing randomly throughout the day. anytime that she heard ariel’s voice, the baby would move about ( almost as if she were dancing ), and the second that ariel stopped, so did she. it was this love for music that led eric and ariel to name their daughter melody -- a name that would continue to fit the princess long after she was born. after her arrival, melody was perfectly perfect in every way ( according to her parents, at least ) -- though to herself, she was nothing shy of a walking disaster and nowhere near fit to be a princess ( thus declaring herself the princess of disaster ). melody could see the sea and always felt drawn to it, but because her mother had never let her visit it, she had never been able to figure out why. though she had temporarily been graced fins by morgana in an act of rebellion, melody had no idea that she actually possessed the power of mermaid physiology until the loss of king mickey. one morning, she’d gone to take a shower in her college dorm room and somehow managed to sprout a fin the second that the water touched her legs. it was from that moment on that melody knew she’d inherited her mother’s mermaid abilities and knew that she had finally been grace with the one thing she always envied her mother for -- the ability to be a mermaid.
