“Lili! Get over here, gorgeous,” Fives scoops you up and spins you around a little. “How was the 8 months without my annoying ass?”

I laugh, “oh you know, totally boring,” I ruffle his hair, “missed you loads.”

Anakin laughs quietly and looks to Cole, “I’m sorry- my mind is all over the place, settling in from the mission. I meant to say; I’ve seen some news holos about you and your father on Ordo. You two are very impressive. I have no doubt you’ll make an excellent king when you take the mantle.”

Cole flushes beneath his helmet. “Oh, I- thank you. That means a lot. I really appreciate that.”

“Oh- I see Fives. I’m gonna go say hi- be right back!” I say quickly and hurry towards the other 501st clones that come in, “hi guys!”

“Oh that’s wonderful,” Cole hums. “It’s always good to have a close lifelong friend. I would say my cousins are probably mine,” he laughs softly.

“Yeah, no cousins here,” I huff a laugh, “just a dork you have to share a Master with your whole life.” I gently punch Anakin’s arm playfully.

Anakin nods a little and follows you over, mentally preparing. This man must really be something. Not that he thinks he’s super special- but he would’ve been perfect for you.

He gives Rex a small smile and shifts his eyes to Cole, holding his hand out. “Hello. You must be Cole. Pleased to meet you.”

“Hi- General Skywalker,” Cole blinks in surprise, shaking his hand. “It’s an honor to be introduced.” He glances down, tilting his head. “So you really do have a metal hand?!”

“Yeah,” Anakin smiles softly, breathing a laugh, “I hope I didn’t grip you too hard. I’ve got to fix some problems with it.”

“No you’re good man,” Cole laughs. “Gods this is- really cool. Meeting all these renown Generals. Marrying one. I feel like a fanboy.”

“Well you certainly married a good one,” anakin says softly, avoiding Rex’s warning gaze.

“Ani and I have known each other since we were little,” I smile softly, “he’s the most important person in my life.” I explain to Cole.

“I’m glad I could be here,” he whispers back, breathing in your scent that he missed so much. “Congratulations on your wedding.”

Even if it clenches his chest like a vice, to say that. You deserve that happiness.

“Thank you,” I say softly, pulling back slowly after a moment and scanning his face, “c’mon, come meet Cole. I think you’ll like him.”

Anakin blinks back a major rush of his own tears, clearing his throat as he makes his way over. “You look beautiful,” he murmurs, pulling you in gently for a hug. His body is still so sore but he wants to hold you, dammit.

“Hi,” I whisper again, holding onto his robes tightly so I don’t squeeze him too hard since I can sense his pain, “‘m so glad you’re here.”

“Some days we weren’t sure we’d come back either,” he admits, moving over and extending his arm to Cole. “Hello- I’m Captain Rex.”

“Vod,” Cole clasps his forearm in the traditional greeting. “It’s nice to meet you. You have a beautiful home- and I love your tunic.”

“Oh- thanks,” Rex huffs a laugh. “Tried to get the wrinkles out best I could.”

Anakin slowly walks through the doorway as they talk, looking around the room with a deep breath. This is his first big event after a stressful mission, and he’s got to face the reality that someone won your heart before he could.

But he still wants to be here for you.

He pauses as he locks eyes with you, giving you a soft smile and a gentle tap from his presence.

Rex nods. “He was getting ready when I left, he should be here in a few. He missed you too,” he says softly. “Real bad.”

I nod a little, “yeah. Missed him. I was worried he wouldn’t come back. Anyway- come meet Cole.” I bring Rex over.

“Me too,” he kisses your head, giving you a gentle squeeze. “Me too. Missed you so much.”

“Is- is Ani here?” I ask softly, looking over his shoulder, I haven’t seen him yet.”

“Hey gorgeous!” Rex grins and pulls you in for a hug, “how’d it go? You havin’ a good time?”

“Went good,” I smile and squeeze him tightly, “I’m so glad you guys could be here for this.”

“Cody, got it,” he laughs softly, watching as several clones walk in together, having worn tunics for the special occasion instead of armor.

Cole doesn’t need the armor to see that they’re massive and quite strong. Impressive.

I beam and move over to them quickly, “Rexy!!”

Cole snorts. “Well with a name like Hunter I would expect nothing less.”

“It’s true,” I huff a laugh, “Cody’s also someone you gotta look out for. Crazy bastard.”

“Will I meet your Commander while I’m here?” He teases. “I need to earn his trust so he doesn’t kill me.”

“Oh absolutely,” I nod solemnly, “and about half my legion. And Hunter- you gotta watch out for him too, he’s very big.”

“Oh I understand,” he nods, “Well, I’m sure the clones would quiet their minds if they had the ability.”

“Oh of course,” I say quickly, “and we love having them here, it isn’t a problem at all.”

Cole grabs a chocolate one and slips it under his helmet, watching the partygoers as he eats. “Y’know,” he swallows his food. “Hearing conversation, thoughts, and my chewing all at once is such a wild experience.”

“It’s crazy,” I smile, “but that’s just because a lot of clones are here. A few years ago the Temple was blessed silence among the crazy of the galaxy. Now that can only be achieved on Jedha.”

“Ohhhh I am going to go ham on these,” he nods slowly, grabbing a plate and starting to fill it up with the pastries he wants. “They’re decorated so pretty too!”

“Yes! Ben helped make a lot of them,” I quickly eat a little cinnamon one since they’re my favorite.”

Cole blinks. “Well… I would say after all this socializing he’ll sleep well but uhh he’s probably not getting any sleep tonight,” he jokes.

“Probably not,” I snort and then immediately pull him to the food table, “so many little cakes!”
