Never date a writer because he’ll spend every moment trying to find the perfect words to describe the moment. Never date a painter because you’ll be his muse but he’s making love to the canvas. A singer will find his song in you but they say that heartbreaks and breakups are when the best songs are written.
sometimes I want to love an artist, they’re the ones who can fully understand the love I have to offer, its as intense and passionate as the art they make, the poems they write, the songs they sing

I didn’t expect this to get as viral when I made it then again I hoped it would be. I wanted something iconic...an image to evoke the emotions necessary to create conversation, frame what’s really important and force us to make changes with our own hands. I made this as I watched the press conference. I couldn’t finish the drawing...I couldn’t draw another line without hearing him sobbing. My heart was breaking, The sad part is that even if the image is faceless, I can see so many people still. I hope the image of Alton Sterling’s son would be he breaking point rather than the video of Alton himself being executed...murdered. Though this is just a faceless cartoon, I can still hear him crying out for his “Daddy.”

Cleveland Police Union Takes Shot At Tamir Rice’s Family After Settlement Announced
Today, a $6 million settlement was announced in the shooting death of Tamir Rice. While the money will certainly not bring back a dead 12-year old, it is at least tacit admission that a wrong was done to this family.

B.R.U.H.: Black Renditions of Universal Heroes (2016)
“The following pages lend insight and inspiration into this philosophy, as these illustrations break down exactly what BRUH means: Black Renditions of Universal Heroes.
You’ll probably notice that all of them are women. I could’ve said heroine and you may ask why I don’t use this word, but then I’d have some questions for you.”

Markus Prime challenges the norm of illustrations often seen, by filling the disparity of black characters. His characters are constructed in a hyper reality setting and utilizes present day narratives from black culture. Born in Warren, Ohio and the son of military parents, Prime moved regularly to different areas within the United States and overseas. During each stay he would connect with those through his love for art and music.
Social media provided Markus a localized medium to visually communicate and remain connected with those he met on and offline. His expert use with markers and infectious personality has made his social handles a meeting place for art and culture lovers.

Portrait series by Matt Small
London-based artist Matthew Small (1975, UK) has graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2000. He captures portraits of people on the street and paints with both oil and water based pigment, the result is a brilliant mishmash of brazen, strong imagery.
Matt Small’s work has strong urban roots. By painting directly onto found pieces of metal, he brings physical elements of the city directly into his work. Matthew focuses on creating portrait painting at its best when the identity of the sitter is of lesser importance than the power and insight of the piece.

I know the key to my rage. You can do whatever to me, you won't set me back far unless I let you but, when you sabotage yourself....especially when I'm invested in you....oh boy. The fury. Knock me down, I dance on the edge knowing full well I may fall or be pushed but, when I take the time to lend my strength so you may reach another level and you willfully jump to your demise? You cannot fathom the enemy you have created in that instance. I pray that you are blessed enough for me to tame the flames in my heart and that cooler thoughts may prevail. In my minutes of anger, I'm boss level vindictive. Burnt bridges be damned, I would swim a lake of fire to taste the resounding sweet of justice, however twisted and grotesque it may be. A younger me would never forgive but, I have matured and learned how to reign in all that I am ashamed to be. Take note that I am a slow fire that burns amazingly hot, tamed but not extinguished.
