I like to think that Miles, upon hearing Phoenix has adopted Trucy, initially has a wave of panic. One that is not entirely reasonable. He has gone so long thinking of Phoenix as this reckless mess of a man who- though he means well- fucks up often. And what in God’s name makes him think that adopting a young traumatized girl is a good idea?! (A girl who recently lost her father, at the age Miles lost his and was taken in and raised and severely mishandled)
And then he remembers Maya. Not really a daughter, more like a younger sister to Phoenix, one who Nick obviously feels a sense of responsibility for. He loves her, and makes fun of her, and breaks down doors for her, and complains about the drain on his finances but caves and buys her food all the time.
Then he remembers Pearl. More like a daughter because she’s so young, but still like a sister because Pearl does have a real mother. Even though Phoenix ends up taking better care of her than Morgan ever had. Phoenix who yeah— he takes Pearl to crime scenes and brings her to court and maybe he isn’t the most practiced or qualified guardian for two traumatized girls when he himself is barely keeping his head above water for most of the games.
So yes. Nick has raised girls before, in a way. He’s read parenting books I’m sure. He’s done his very best and Maya and Pearls love him. They love him and he loves them and they are family.
And with Trucy, it’s not just Phoenix (no matter how much he believes so) taking care of her. It’s Maya, too. It’s Gumshoe. It’s friends and old clients who look out for Wright’s girls just as much as it is Phoenix protecting them.
I imagine Miles meets her, and Phoenix has just been disbarred, and he feels immense fear of a repeated cycle. He gets defensive and suspicious and anxious because he doesn’t want to see Phoenix as a piss poor caretaker- to put him in the same category as Manfred even slightly. So Miles decides he will help. He will be here for Trucy and Maya and Pearl and Phoenix as much as feasibly possible. He sets out trust funds, whether Phoenix wants him to or not, he helps deal with official matters like guardianship and enrolling in schooling and evaluations. He vows to be there, to prevent another cycle repeating.
And of course, Phoenix isn’t perfect. But he tries so very hard and loves so very much. And he ends up being a good father, as well as he can be in the circumstances. He tries. And Miles helps.
They give me so many feelings 😫

Okay here's a thing I thought about recently
You can tell the new writers didn't know what to do with Apollo because they kept trying to give him new gimmicks / motivations both times. First he's suddenly got a bestie he'll go insane for. Then he's got a whole secret childhood in a different country.
Meanwhile, Phoenix is RIGHT THERE with 7 years of unused time!! And they give him nothing. Not a single new thing is added to him. Worse, they even revert him to his original trilogy bluster and pretend his days as the cold poker player don't exist or matter. They actively take characterisation away from Phoenix.
Because Phoenix is the self-insert, right? Obviously, he can't have too much detail on him, he's here for the player to project themselves onto. It's not like he has his own wild characterisation (changing his entire life trajectory to meet his friend he knew for like 3 months of his childhood again, willingly and seriously cross-examining a parrot, refusing to elabourate on his past to the point of pretending his old friend is legitimately dead). It's not like he's grown at all from those experiences and should be less prone to falling to despair about his cases going off the rails (6-1 is the biggest offender to me in this regard; I get this is a higher stakes gambit than he expected, but my dude this is the first case you cannot throw out the despair pose like that it lacks any emotional impact and actively takes me out of the moment).
It's just very telling to me that, instead of utilising what possibilities they have (7 whole years!!), they pretend it's a complete blank for Phoenix. It may as well have just been a blink of an eye, it doesn't matter for him. It's less missing time and more just a single step over the issue.
Also this is petty but "King of Bluff"??? Why would that be his name. I hate this. Call him the "Turnabout Terror" he's THE Turnabout guy!! Any Prosecutor worth their salt should know by now that when their case seems to be going their way and they're close to that Guilty verdict, that's when they need to be afraid. That's when Phoenix Wright pulls out the most bullshit small detail and flips everything on its head. Pray he does not accuse you of being involved because it's a 50/50 chance he will tear open your secrets to reveal what crimes you are guilty of. Acting as if the guy who focuses in on the smaller details and is 90% of the time right on the money is lying his ass off is just wild to me. He may be putting on airs that these details are more important than he initially thinks, that he's flying by the seat of his pants, but his track record does not lie. The hoops we have to jump to be the underdog at all times is wild when we're inherently underdogs just from our profession alone, especially in this world.
Anyway yeah. Weird they chose to fuss with Apollo's character and story twice over when Phoenix is right there, with empty time to fill in, and yet he has negative character growth instead. Very telling of them.

i am so charmed by miles edgeworth. i knew i was gonna like him when i first started the series bc his aesthetics fit right into my usual type but god they made him so appealing by NOT making him some one dimensional, emotionless asshole.
when you first prove him wrong in court he almost pops a fucking vein. this man is not super cool or super collected in the stereotypical sense. he’s a loser who says HHHHNGHHHH unironically, wears a cravat to his workplace and bows to the judge before delivering his opening statements. he fucking sucks at small talk and is even worse at gathering witness names/testimonies and he is one of the most endearing characters in the franchise because he isn’t just a pompous prick with seven sticks up his ass but he also isn’t just a gay, autistic piece of shit suffering from 15 years of emotional repression + a frankly laughable lack of social awareness. he is miles edgeworth, pompous, good looking, well meaning, logical, and nerdy miles edgeworth. i love him.

Happy 11/11!
Have some dumb little sappy comic about Trucy forcing her dads into a pocky game and somehow went successfully!~ Enjoy!
An abandoned comic from last year, and i am very proud of the improvements!! Extra thanks: @moss-born (light proof reading and emotional support) If you broke, have some uncooked spaghetti sticks to compensate.❤

When you think about it, Mamoru is kinda GOATed? In the manga, he got psychometry, healing, prophetic dreams, ability to see any location on earth if he touches the ground, energy blasts... Sir?? 😳🕶🤏
It's always funny when you talk to people who only ever saw the 90s anime and tell them about how powerful Mamoru is in the manga, lol. In the manga he's basically a Senshi himself with all the awesome powers he has (making his Naoko's statement that he's the de-facto Sailor Earth make total sense) whereas in the 90s anime he just.... throws roses and makes corny speeches, lol.

Chibiusa has a neat little parallel to Mamoru that I just noticed. Both of their guardians were their enemies and after the defeat of the villain of their debut arc, they became allies (although the Shitennou were still in spirit forms). They even became sealed in stones after their defeats.
I love that! Also, both the Shittennou and the Sailor Quartet were originally allies/guardians before they were brainwashed and corrupted by the big bad (namely Metallia and Nehellenia). After their defeat, they remember who they are and go back to serving their leader.
Just goes to show that Chibiusa has a lot in common with her dad, but the fandom doesn't really focus on that as much as her similarities/relationship with Usagi.

I like to imagine that the reason why Mamoru got his wig crystal snatched so early in Stars was because he was inexperienced in unleashing its power. Compare to Sailor Moon who manifested her Silver Crystal early on in her guardian career and since then has had nothing but experience in using its power (either to use it to heal or power her brooch or attacks), Tuxedo Mask unsealed his crystal pretty late in the game. Even when comparing him to the Inners who get upgrades every arc in the manga with new attacks, Tuxedo Mask never received any upgrades and only ever had his Tuxedo La Smoking Bomber that he got in the Black Moon arc.
This is such a good observation, anon! It is kinda sad how Mamoru's powers and abilities get sidelined compared to the Senshi.

Snippet of my work in progress
"My friends and I are going to the Crown Fruit Parlor after school. Do you want to join us?" "Of course I wanna join you, Usagi-san. I really didn't expect to find some friends that quickly to be honest. But I'm glad I did."
After school the girls left together and headed to the ice cream parlor. Arriving there, they sat down in a big booth where another girl was already sitting. "Hey Rei-chan! Look, I've made a new friend at school today. Her name is Ayaka and she just transferred to Juuban High School." "Nice to meet you, Rei-san." "The pleasure is mine, Ayaka-san."
The group wasn't alone for very long, as a young man quietly sat down next to Usagi and wrapped his arm around her. "What are you guys talking about? Did something special happen at school?" "Hi Mamo-chan! We were just introducing our new friend and classmate to Rei-chan." Usagi gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and cuddled up with him.
But Mamoru wasn't focusing on his fiancèe, instead his eyes were on the girl sitting opposite of him. He felt strange, it felt like something was pulling at the back of his mind. This girl had the same hair and eye color as him, but she was also radiating a familiar warmth. Then he saw her brooch, it was almost as elaborate and sparkling as the one Usagi was wearing.
"You're a Sailor Soldier", he whispered but everyone on the table still heard him. "She's what?!", the girls said in a choir with disbelieving looks on their faces. "Mamoru-san, what do you mean by this? Do you really think that she's just like us?", Makoto asked confused. "Yes, I'm quite sure. We should head over to the Crown Arcade to discuss this further."
Luckily they hadn't ordered anything yet, therefore they could just leave and hurry to their command center on the other side of the street.
