study methods
the second brain method
this method focuses on organizing the information you learn to maximize effectiveness. a common way of doing this is through the CODE method:
capture - be quick and efficient in how you receive the information
organize - organize the information in a way that works for you
distill - break the information down to its key elements
express - apply the information you’ve learned
* there is a ton of information out there about this method. if you struggle with burnout and knowing where to start, i recommend researching this method further to figure out what works for you.
the pomodoro method
the pomodoro method is a time management method. the most common expression of this method is to pick a task, work for 25 minutes on that task, then take a break for 5 minutes. then, repeat. if you’re planning to work all day, you may up the time spent studying. for example, after a while of this, you may work for 30 minutes at a time, then 40, then 45, and so forth. this method is particularly good for when you’re feeling unmotivated or having a hard time focusing. if you’re still not feeling it after a while, you may start to take longer breaks. for example, you may study for 30 minutes, break for 15, and keep going like that.
the 5 minute rule method
this method is good for when you have to do a shorter task, but you’re procrastinating doing it. this method requires you to dedicate only 5 minutes to do your task. after that, you may stop, but chances are, once you’ve started, finishing won’t be as difficult.
the blurting method
this method is particularly good for revision. the blurting method requires you to read over the content you are learning, then put it away and write down everything you know or can remember. then, check the content and revise everything you didn’t write down.
spaced repetition
spaced repetition requires you to spread out your study reviews over the period of a few days. this has been shown to improve memory. rather than studying one thing at a time, then studying something else the next day and so on, review the information right after you’ve learned it, then recall it after a few hours, then a few days, then a few weeks, and so on. if you’re studying something you will need to remember for an extended period of time, this method would be perfect for you!
active recall
this is my absolute favorite method! it’s been shown to improve your studying immensely and so many people have benefited from practicing active recall. active recall involves retrieving information from your brain, usually done through questions. a good way to do this is to explain the concept to yourself, to someone else, or act like you’re doing a presentation on the subject. after you’ve recalled all of the information you know about the subject, go over your material again and be sure you covered everything and explained everything the best way you could. if you didn’t, review everything you did not remember or got wrong, and go again. do this until you get everything. doing this can also be referred to as the feynman technique.
the SQ3r method
survey - skim your text and identify bolded text, headers, images, etc.
question - generate questions about the text based on what you surveyed. what are the key concepts in this text? what is each paragraph about? what information do i need to take away from this text?
read - read through the entire text and answer the questions you created
recite - summarize what you learned in your own words
review - recall the key concepts and answers to your questions

the decrease in costuming quality over the last 20 years has been soooo precipitous & nauseating. i’m not even talking abt marvel’s cg supersuits or anything this time, look at the fabric quality, structure, layering, character, and craftsmanship of older costumes in 102 dalmations (2000) vs cruella (2021)
ever after (1998) vs cinderella (2021)
lord of the rings (2001-2003) vs the rings of power (2022)
this trend should upset you not just because it looks cheap, but because it suggests a strong anti-art and anti-labor movement in film and tv making. don’t forget costumers are unionized

I really wish HOTD did anything with the change of making Criston Cole explicitly Dornish. What does it mean for how he fits into the politics at court? What are the implications for his relationship with the royal family? What effects does this have on his character or psyche?
Instead there's nothing at all that is explored with this character. And the result of having an actor of color play Criston without any nuance or consideration of it narratively... I feel like Fabien and his character get a lot of hate and there's no thought to how there is a real racial aspect that affects perception of him. Obviously the character has flaws... but is he seriously the most heinous violent person in the series who deserves the most hate? It's also not great how he's often reduced to either being violent or essentially a sex object.
Unfortunately this is only one example of HOTD dealing with race (the others being the way the Velaryons are sidelined or reduced to Rhaenyra's cheerleaders and subservient to her, and the erasure of Nettles and removing the importance of Rhaena's actual character and arc). I think it comes down to HBO and the writers performatively being diverse without being able or willing to tell diverse stories, and the unwillingness of the writing team to acknowledge systems of power and inequality that exist in this universe (racism, classism, ableism) other than the one they decided was important (sexism).

TB stans tried to make Alicent sound crazy for telling her kids that Rhaenyra is a threat only for Rhaenyra to prove her right by 1. demanding that an already wounded Aemond gets tortured 2. (indirectly) causing the murder of Jaehaerys 3. admitting that even if she gets the throne she will still have Aegon killed as a show of power. So....where was the lie?
EXACTLY! They act like Alicent us crazy for believing these people who have been people she has trusted her WHOLE LIFE. Like Otto her father, Criston her guard and a man who worked for Rhaenyra, Larys one of her first allies. I truly don't get how they 3xpected Alicent to not believe these people, especially Otto, over Rhaenyra when all Rhaenyra has done is lie to her or treat her like shit because she married Viserys.
Rhaenyra has not once shown or said one thing to make Alicent or her siblings she wouldn't harm them. I've had Anons say that her offering to betroth Belaena adn Jace is her showing she doesn't, but it doesn't Alicent said it best, "how wonderfully the Fox sings when cornered by the hounds" her doing that wasn't to help Helaena it was to help herself.
I have said it many times (even in this post/answer) that Rhaenyra never gave her siblings or Alicent or ANYONE IN COURT, a reason to believe she wouldn't harm the Targtowers. So people may believe she wouldn't, but they have no show in book proof and if they do its not Rhaenyra saying it to the greens it's to a second party. Whereas Alicent and the Targtowers only have proof she would, Aemonds eye and wanting him tortured and completely disregarding that a insult isn't a reason to maim or disable a person, the death of Jaehaerys and how she didn't do anything to show she had no hand in it which only proves in their eyes she may not have done it or ordered it but she was OK with it, and her demanding Aegons death only sodilifys to Alicent all that she was told.
So no Alicent wasn't crazy for thinking her children would be harmed or murdered, and I will say this till the day I die if I have to.
Also thank you for the ask Anon!

A HOUSE OF THE DRAGON FANCOMIC
Warning: OOC (Out of Character). I don't recommend reading this if you don't enjoy watching Targtowers interacting.
This is the first time I've drawn a comic this long. I tried my best and glad that I made it. I couldn't finish this project without the help of Sylva from Aegond group chat, Kac Flextem_FK and Minh Nhật. Thank you all very much!
