Hole is where the heart is! This used to be Beeks pizza and a useful rental store. For the past two years it has been either a burned out shell or this hole in the ground on the corner 54th and Lyndale. Is anyone else sick of this?

Found myself in the best kind of rut today. New snow and 27 degrees in Minneapolis- perfect.

Once known as the Northwestern Bell building, the CenturyLink building in Minneapolis is a subdued example of the Art Deco style. Inside you will find some great Art Deco design right down to the light fixtures. Take a moment to study the roofline windows -they have the feeling of something that would be more at home on a cathedral. I have always loved this building and as a child remember it being the only building that came close to the height of the Foshay. I am not certain, but I believe that the cornice of microwave antennas (not original to the building) came at two separate times. The first one being being added in the late 50's and the second one in the late 60's or early 70's. If anyone knows for sure, please confirm or correct me. Take a moment though to appreciate the great history of architecture in the twin cities.
