Battlefield V Reveal Details

Battlefield will return to it’s roots in more ways than one. EA revealed today the details of the franchise’s return to WW2. This time, breaking the mold from previous battlefield games.

The next game in the series will include a heavy focus on team gameplay. When players join a game they are automatically added to a squad. Squads are now the focus of team gameplay. When a player dies, they are sent to a squad spawn screen first and given an over the shoulder view of their squadmates to choose one to spawn on. 

Squads also have a new buddy revive system. If no medics are around you now have the option of reviving your squadmate to a small bit of health.

Players are now going to spawn with less ammo than they have in previous titles, relying on their squadmates support and and health will only auto regenerate to a certain point before they will need their squads medic to take them back to full health. 

Character customization is offering levels of uniqueness for the player character not offered before. Players will be able to change their characters gender, skin color and outfits that they’ve unlocked. The customization will offer options including race, gender, face, face paint, jackets, pants, helmets and hats.

They’re also adding in Companies. You can customize your character for the situation and you can progress individual guns and specialties across soldiers, weapons, and vehicles.

Gunplay is also changing. Recoil patterns will now be predictable. The randomness of current battlefield games fire patterns will be a thing of the past. The more you use a weapon and get used to it’s recoil pattern, the better you will be with it. Weapon customization is available with continued weapon use.

Character models and animations are also changing. How a character model interacts with the environment will be situational and more natural. When a player runs for cover, other players will see the model slam up against the cover like that is the intent. When a player tries to scavenge for ammo from dead enemies, another aspect of the attrition angle of multiplayer, you will see them root around the body for the ammo.

Operations are back with Grand Operations. Each Operation mode will take place over the course of ‘days’, or each round of the operation. The ‘day’ will be a different mode alternating between rush, traditional operation mode, and other game modes. This gives DICE the opportunity to make every Operation game mode a unique experience.

A new mode will be available called Airborne where players drop in and try to sabotage enemy assets.

Premium pass is now a thing of the past, something players have been wanting for a while now. All new content will be available for all players including maps and weapons. There is a new Tides of War feature that will have limited time skins and cosmetic items. No word yet on if lootboxes will be a part of this or not.

A playable trial will be available for EAaccess and Origin Access members on October 11. Deluxe purchasers can play on October 16th and everyone else can play on October 19th.
