The RAR format is proprietary, so it's no surprise that Mac systems don't come with a built-in utility for handling it. However, the solution is as easy as installing a free third-party tool that can open RAR files.

Here are five RAR extraction options you can pick from.

1. Open RAR Files With Keka

Keka is a compression and extraction tool that's available both in the Mac App Store and as a standalone installation. Once installed, all you have to do is double-click on a RAR file to extract it, or right-click one and select Open.

The downside to using Keka, at least for some users, is that you can't explore the contents of a RAR file without first extracting it. You might never need this functionality, in which case this is a great tool for the job. But if you like having the ability to peek at an archive's contents and only pull out the files you need, Keka isn't the right app for you.

Note that Keka can create its own compressed archives, but does not support the RAR format. You'll be limited to ZIP, 7-Zip, TAR, GZIP, and BZIP2 formats.

I just updated to iOS 14 and was asked if I wanted to update the Reminders app, which I did since there were no warnings that IT WOULD NO LONGER SYNC WITH OUTLOOK!! Small detail! Up to that point I was happily able to sync my extensive (600+ items!) task list in Outlook with Reminders. Apple has now effectively hijacked my data, since I cannot find any way of exporting it back to Outlook to then use in MS To Do or similar. The iCloud app in Win10 looks like it was done by a 6-year old doing fingerpaints! Absolutely useless! The tasks have disappeared in Outlook!

I now see that this has been issue since iOS 13 (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250646596?login=true). How long are Apple going to screw around before they solve this?

Is there a workaround?

Upgraded reminders aren't compatible with earlier versions of iOS and macOS. If you upgrade your reminders on your iPhone with iOS 13 or later, your other devices — like your iPad and Mac — can’t access the reminders until you update your iPad to iPadOS or your Mac to macOS 10.15 Catalina. Learn what to expect until all your devices have the latest software.

You can always see your reminders on a Mac or PC by signing into iCloud.com with a compatible web browser.

The upgrade process

Make sure that your device is connected to the Internet before you open the Reminders app for the first time after updating to iOS 13 or later.

When you open the app, a Welcome to Reminders screen gives you the options to upgrade now or upgrade later. Reminders will also tell you if you have shared Reminders lists that will be affected, or other devices that also need to be upgraded.

Tap Upgrade Now to begin the process. If you tap Upgrade Later, the app's main screen appears and shows a blue Upgrade button above your lists. Tap it when you're ready to upgrade your reminders.

The upgrade process affects existing reminders in your primary iCloud account only. Reminders in all other accounts, such as secondary iCloud accounts and CalDAV and Exchange accounts, aren't changed.

See your reminders on other devices

After the upgrade, you can view your reminders in these places:

The Reminders app on your other Apple devices if they're running iOS 13 or later, iPadOS, macOS 10.15 Catalina, or watchOS 6 or later, and signed in to iCloud with the same Apple ID.

Shared lists require that both the creator of the list and the people who can view it have upgraded their reminders.

Apple dropped support for the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 6 series with iOS 13 in 2019. However, with iOS 14, Apple has not dropped support for any of the older iPhones. Whether you're someone who keeps up with all the latest iPhone system updates or someone who dismisses the pop-up about updating every time you see it, soon, the decision about updating might be made for you. When Apple releases iOS 13, it will not be compatible with the iPhone 6, which will no doubt leave some owners asking how long they can keep using the iPhone 6 at all.

That might sound a little dramatic, but basically there are two things that could happen to make the phone less worth holding on to.

First, without being able to get new system updates, the phone could be less secure. Each update involves new security features, and according to USA Today, not being able to update could leave users open to potential breaches. With iOS 13 in particular, Apple will include a number of new privacy and security features, including removing location metadata from photos and more protection against apps getting access to information you don't want them privy to, as reported by Tech Crunch. That said, Apple does sometimes release updates for issues affecting older models, so it remains to be seen exactly how this will play out.

Second, apps could eventually stop supporting iOS 12. Since apps have to be compatible with the operating system in order to work on a phone, after a while, the apps won't want to keep making updates for older systems that are being used by fewer people. It's impossible to know when this would happen and for which apps, but it makes sense that eventually iOS 12 won't be a viable option for a lot of them.

So, the options are to keep using your iPhone 6 for as long as it still works for you. (I mean, if you basically just make calls and texts, then the app thing won't matter.) Or you could get a new or used older model iPhone. USA Today suggests the iPhone 8 since it will be a while before it goes the way of the iPhone 6. Or you can wait until the fall when the newest iPhone models are expected to be released. Of course, those ones will be the most pricey, but hey, if you've been saving up since getting that iPhone 6 in 2014, then maybe this works out perfectly.

Al Capone is one of the most notorious gangsters in the history of American crime. Not only did he rise to prominence during the prohibition era, but at the peak of his power, Capone almost ran the city of Chicago. As many know, the gangster was eventually arrested for tax evasion. Now, ‘Capone‘ tells us about the later stages of his life, after the notoriety was stripped away and banal anonymity remained. It paints a bleak picture of a man who was once larger than life, showing that crime does not pay. Curious to find out where you can stream the movie? What is Capone About?

The story picks up after Capone is released from prison. He is let out at 47 when his mind is rotting due to syphilis, and he’s no longer considered a threat. The plot follows his life in the year before his death at the age of 48. We see how he relocates to Palm Island in Florida and is under FBI observation.

While many believed he was faking his mental illness, we see Capone plagued by the horrors and violence of his past. After a physical confrontation with his wife, she orders his bodyguards to keep everyone away from him. Alone with his thoughts, Capone’s mind devolves further until he reverts to a childlike state. He meets an ignominious ending as his family changes his name after his death, and the $10 million he had allegedly hidden is never recovered.

Is Capone on Netflix?

Netflix has a fantastic collection of crime movies, and while you cannot stream ‘Capone’ on the platform, do check out Martin Scorsese’s latest gangster saga, ‘The Irishman,’ instead. Much like ‘Capone,’ the film deals with the banal ending that awaits the supposedly glamorous life of crime led by members of the mafia.

Google Drive File Stream Sync

After Google Drive Stream installation, a drive named Google Drive File Stream will appear on the left in Finder or File Explorer. This folder will comprise both your personal Google Drive and the Team Drives that you are a part of. So, you can access GDrive Stream from the Menu Bar or from the Finder window.

The business equivalent of Backup and Sync for G Suite is called Drive File Stream. Users of the enterprise app today are encountering some downtime and cannot access their documents.

Drive File Stream. Drive File Stream is an entirely new Enterprise-oriented application. It makes your entire Google Drive available on your computer while using none of your disk space. As long as you are connected to the Internet, you’ll be able to open and edit your Google Drive files right from your desktop. You are essentially streaming. The Google Drive File Stream “Sign in” window will also be displayed. In the Google Drive File Stream “Sign in” window, enter your Georgetown email address and then click Next. (Note: In the example below, “[email protected]” is entered as the email address.). When you install Drive for desktop on your computer, it creates a drive in My Computer or a location in Finder named Google Drive File Stream. All of your Drive files appear here. 1.2 Pause syncing If you pause Drive for desktop, any changes to files are not uploaded. And, new versions of files made available offline won't be downloaded.

Update: Google says the issue has been fixed. Affected users are advised to re-sign in to Drive File Stream.

The problem with Google Drive should be resolved. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support. Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google, and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better.

The Windows and macOS application is throwing up a “Drive File Stream is not enabled for the account” error that advises users to contact a G Suite admin. The only options are to “Try again” or “Quit.”

G Suite on Twitter confirmed the Drive File Stream downtime, and the Status Dashboard has the issue marked as a “service disruption.” Besides error messages, there are reports of being bumped off, slowdowns, and other “unexpected behavior.”

Fortunately, the workaround involves just accessing drive.google.com on the web or the mobile apps. Drive File Stream provides access to shared drives, and has other capabilities like real-time presence in Microsoft Office and Outlook integration. It’s geared at work and school users, though it lacks the ability to sync other desktop or document folders and Google Photos.
