being told she was joining a boy group was already a shock and something she felt kind of uncomfortable with, it didn’t help that it felt like everyone and thing was against her, except nct themselves of course.

nct debut

quite a simple scandal, a girl in a boy group how shocking, not to mention as a “replacement” for another member, needless to say, reactions were a mixed bag of hate, confusion, and support, there were a decent amount of nctzens sending love and welcoming her but she didn’t see most of it.

homesick

nabi did her first solo (disaster) vlive at one point she started talking about growing up in Japan, childhood stories, what her hometown is like, and how she much misses it, after the vlive anti-japan knetz didn't like the amount she talked about Japan and how positive it was, saying it was disrespectful to native Koreans and that if she loves japan so much she should go back.

this was a particularly hard year, sm staff were even harder on her than before because of dreams concept change, and having all of the boys around her at once was overwhelming. Nabi felt a lot of pressure.

Japanese Vlive

Yuta primarily talks to nabi in Japanese so when they did a vlive with each other they naturally, spoke Japanese this annoyed some Korean fans who complained that vlive is mainly used by k-fans saying it is disrespectful to them and that they’re in a Korean pop group so they should speak Korean.

touchy

during black-on-black promotions nabi annoyed some “fans” by being too clingy to her members, obsessive “fans” / sasaengs sent her threatening messages which got the attention of news sites.

manipulative

Nabi did a Vlive with Yeri where Yeri joked that nabi acts differently around NCT than she does with her. "she acts sweeter, cuter with them, she’s “mean” to me," nabi joking along laughed saying it gets her attention. Many fans weren’t happy with the joke saying she is using NCT and just joined the group to date boys. It was just joke of course, nabi acts basically the same with all her friends, Nabi being the youngest in her family naturally falls into a little sibling role with 127 and they don't mind babying younger members. Around kids her age like the dreamies she teases and lets loose more than she would around older friends. SM made nabi apologize for the joke.

in late 2018 nabi got really sick physically and mentally so sm announced that she would be on hiatus to focus on her health, nabi returned back with NCT dream in June.

The resident lesbian

nabi stated that guys being overtly sexual makes her uncomfortable when asked if it was the same for girls she said no, once fans saw this a lot started saying that nabi is a lesbian, it was mainly a joke but some people took it seriously spreading homophobic remarks, many said that sunset should disband to protect yeri. Sm didn’t say anything, nctzens had to be the ones to clear her name.

Due to covid-19, this year nabi was relatively ignored, most were used to her at this point anyways. 

Book recommendations

while on vlive someone asked nabi what she’s been reading lately, nabi listed a number of books but the ones that stirred up shock were Kim Ji-young’s, born in 1982, a feminist novel well known for stirring up controversy; soft science by Franny Choi exploring queer, Asian American femininity. A small "boycott" from close-minded people happened but it wasn't significant enough to get the attention of SM or even Nabi. Nctzens did see the comments of disapproval about the book choices and they went on the defense.

wheein of mamamoo, nabi loves how her style is very mixed not leaning for either feminine or masculine styles but an in-between, also a notable mention is the style of red velvet's joy.

soft girl/chic/ulzzang style

she’ll usually keep it light with pastels or neutrals but she loves red so that shows up a lot, skirt and shirt or dress and skirt combo happens like 80% of the time.

chill or cool style

she usually wears outfits like this when she’s tired, has practice or just wants to look cool, so literally anything all black or maybe a plaid/flannel.

accessories

nabi has multiple ear piercings on the lobe, helix and conch, she most often wears a long earring on the lobe with studs or loops up the side, or if she’s feeling fancy a long earring with a cuff.

necklaces she always wears are a locket with a family photo inside and a butterfly necklace.

she also wears friendship rings she got with her pre-debut group mates and a bracelet with heart chains.

makeup

when doing her makeup for everyday looks she keeps it simple with a light pink eye shadow and either a matching or red lip color, she only ever experiments on her own time and with specific looks, she really wants to do her own makeup with stage outfits but staff won’t let her.

This girl is considered most idols little sister whether super close or not, everyone's whipped. she performs many kind acts and isn’t afraid of polite conversation which leads to idol interactions.

nabi shares a birthday with wooyoung from ateez.

it is said that her visuals resemble chungha, actress chae soo-bin some think she looks like bae suzy and lovelyz key.

one of her nicknames “minus hands” was given to her by haechan because she has a habit of dropping things excessively.

nabi tends to get distracted easily when out, nct watches her very closely because if she sees something interesting she’ll just walk away or stop suddenly while nct just keeps going unaware, they always get her back but the small girl tends to get lost easily.

she has bad eyesight and usually wears contacts because of an astigmatism 

nabi works out regularly, once she joined in sm managers pushed her to lose weight but she eventually realized that it’s her body and she can do whatever she wants, though the staff aren’t too happy with her weight, she works out for herself now not with the goal of losing weight but to be healthy, have stamina and maintain her weight.

a lending ear is something nabi will always have available, she’s a great listener and while she isn’t perfect and might not know what to say at times, her presence alone is comforting and helps uplift spirits.

nabi is very creative she not only draws but is passionate about nail art and makeup. 

she has a diary which she takes everywhere filled with her day to day activities and feelings but also lyrics and ideas that she’s had since she came to korea.

she also has a usb filled with self-produced songs and ideas that she wants to fully realize.  

nabi loves watching animations but studio ghibli movies and atla are especially close to her.

a genre of music she loves is j-rock which seems out of character but her step dad always played rock music throughout the house when she was younger and he even played in a band in his youth, she used to dream of being in a rock band.

nabi has never met her biological father she has only heard stories through her siblings and mother, and after hearing them she is quite certain she doesn’t want to know him.

her brother ye-jun is a skilled rapper, singer, lyricist and producer, he started as an underground rapper in japan then headed to korea where he became a yg trainee eventually leaving, before appearing on show me the money season 4 joining aomg. is the one who originally taught nabi how to produce music.

ye-jun is a very protective older brother after what happened with their other sister and some of the trauma nabi has been through he’s always looked out for her. 

growing up surrounded by music lead her to learn multiple instruments some of which are the violin, acoustic guitar and piano.

nabi is an excellent chef and loves to cook especially with taeyong she’s his little sous chef it acts as a bonding exercise for them.

volunteering is something nabi has always done, her mother would always go help around when she had the time and would often take nabi with her, she grew up helping take care of her grandparents and other folks in her town with her mother.

nabi has adhd, anxiety and depression. She talks about her mental health struggles regularly to spread awareness about the topic and to destigmatize it. 

despite pleas from most of the boys’ nabi refuses to drop out of school, she takes her education very seriously and whether for the best or not she is adamant that she stays.

Hiya, this is a weird “ask” but a while ago i was looking for nctchaeng and came across nctnabi and the thing is ive been a fan of nct for a while and love inserts so i made my own on Pinterest not public but i wad thinking of translating it over to tumblr until i saw nctnabi but you’ve changed it now. Their are not really any similarities between my nabi and yours my fc is roh jisun and personalities are different (1//2) 🦋
