Rachel is simple, smart, and kind. When her car broke down on her great escape into adult hood on her own, she found herself twisted into a web of her childish nightmares - Crossroads. If it wasn't for Theo, Rachel would have been road kill on her first few steps over the town boarder. Thankfully, she was saved. Though it was only the start to her ties with the supernatural in this twisted town.

Theo waited a few moments to see if she was move. When she didn’t, he gently moved her away from himself and smiled at her. “I can draw the bath for you if you want,” He shrugged, figuring that it was the least he could do to help her out an bit more more. “I could throw in one of those colors things you like, you’re on your own after that though.” He said, throwing in a wink in an attempt to make her at least smile a bit. “You can pick the movie tonight, no objections from me.” Theo led her, knowing that she loved their movie nights and hoping that it would possibly cheer her up, or at least relax her.
Rachel groaned a little as she felt the cold air rush between them. Pulling his jacket around her a little more as she listened to him. “That’d be nice..” She said softly. “They’re called bath bombs...” She laughed a little having to tell him, and even more so at his little joke. Looking up she gave him a small smile. Hoping it would ease him a little with her state. “Can it be New Moon?” She asked softly with a bigger smile than before.

He threw his head back a little and chuckled, “yeah,” he said, “I’ve been around awhile. That sounds like a good idea though, don’t go looking for any ghouls though. It might also be a good idea to go for a scholarship or something. You could boost your GPA in night school if you need to.”
Rachel nodded softly to herself. “Oh, no. You don’t need to worry about that. I’m well aware of where I stand on the food chart around here. I think wild animals have a better chance of survival than a human does sometimes. Besides - I’m not a fan of killing all that much. I mean.. my first soul wasn’t even my kill and I had a hard time with that.” Looking at him she smiled a little more. “I’ve thought about it. Just with all my jobs it might be a bit complicated. I’m either going to be able to pay for my education with the money I earned.. or souls. I just.. would rather it be my money..”

“Science stereotypes. Fan’s of physics tend to be a little less open in their emotions, it’s a colder kind of subject I guess.” He could appreciate the desire to want t work for her education and not wanting to use her only real bargaining chip in this city. He had a few souls but he wasn’t about to give her one. He hardly knew her. “Souls aren’t easy to come by,” he said, “how do you imagine you’ll get one?”
Rachel blinked a few times as she looked at him.”You’ve been around awhile huh? I mean to observe that much about someone, and people.” She laughed a little. “You’re pretty spot on though, I’m a little impressed.” Humming a little in thought she shrugged a little. “Maybe make friends with something supernatural, or a really old human and when they kick the bucket... it’s mine. Or that ghoul thing ... If I come across one the only choice I really have is to kill it.. so.. maybe they still have a soul of some sort.”

Carrie looked down at the forms again, noticing that there’s a small amount of income that didn’t look to be taxed. She couldn’t place who’s it was. She could be wrong, but it looked like some sort of donation. “Are you getting donations of any sort that wouldn’t be taxed? Am I just crazy? I might be crazy. This is the third set of these forms I’ve looked at today. Is it yours? I think it is, or maybe this was from the last person… I’m not sure….”
Rachel frowned a little as she leaned over to look at the papers. “Donations? I mean no... I get tips. A lot of tips. And I work for someone, that’s I guess sorta private work.” She said biting at her cheek. “Maybe that could be it?”

Rachel was jumping on her heels as she tapped her feet down. With her blood selling, stripping, large tips, and just bar tending she had no idea if anything was even correct herself. “Um... I mean.. that’s really all the paper I have.” She said nervously with a small shrug.
“These aren’t adding up correctly. Are you sure you’ve given me all the information and paperwork?” Carrie looked at the papers in front of her. She was always happy to help other people out, and tax season always seemed to be busy. She always did it for free, and many people around the town took her up on her offer, especially the businesses in town.

Theo only shushed her quietly and held her tightly, knowing that she was far from being able to form cohesive sentences. She didn’t need to say anything for him to be able to guess what happened. While he was curious about where she’d been and her choice of clothing, that didn’t matter at the moment. He would forget about it and never even bring it up if that’s what she wanted. When they reached the side door to the bar, which led them to their loft, he did have to put her down in order to the each reach into his pants pocket and grab his key. He kept an arm wrapped around her waist is though, afraid that she might collapse at any moment. “Go ahead and draw yourself a bath and relax. I’ll cook something small for us to eat and when you’re done we can eat and talk, alright?” He smiled at her once they were in living room.
Rachel felt her body start to relax. Only a little though as she felt Theo hold her tighter. At least she knew she was safe, and in good hands. Theo was the only person in this town to make her feel that way. As much as she hated him finding her like this - she wouldn’t want anyone else either. As he set her down she kept her arms around him, and her face hidden. Rachel didn’t want to talk about it. She didn’t want to think about it. Biting her lip she nodded but didn’t move. Her arms still wrapped around him and her face still hidden.

“You humans,” Invidia shook her head with a giggle. “You’re still alive. Celebrate that. Duh. Do humans ever need a reason to drink anyway? Like seriously…”
Rachel looked up at her. Confused at best with this girl and her joy over the situation in front of her. “I know I’m still alive.. but that doesn’t change this is the first life I have taken..” With that she looked back at the body... Rachel could get herself another soul. Unless it was already taken by someone. Wouldn’t hurt her to go check. “What? I mean... no.. but I’m not much of a drinker.”

Theo was on his nightly prowl when he heard the gunshots. He ran off towards where it came from. He stopped, hoping that he was imagining the scene in front of him. Walking over to the ghoul, he made sure it was dead. Then withought a word he took his jacket off, wrapping it around Rachel. She wasn’t wearing much and it was cold, he didn’t want her to get sick. He picked her up bridal style, unsure if she could even move and started walking towards their loft.
Rachel was afraid to even look at Theo. It was just a reminder that she was human, and in a town like this she was the weakest thing. It wouldn’t take much to kill off Rachel in a place like this. The simple thought of leaving Theo behind tore he apart. Even more so the guilt he’d feel for not being able to save her. She flinched for a moment at the jacket but quickly snuggled into the warmth and familiar smell of him. She let him pick her up and wrapped her arms around his neck as she started to cry more. “I killed ... I..’ She couldn’t find real words, and maybe it was just her fear of everything she just encountered, but she was certainty a new level of shattered .

Dane swung a leg over the back and handed the helmet to Rachel. “Well, let’s get you home then.”
Taking the helmet she slipped it on and got on the back of the ride. Rachel wasn’t an idiot. Her human body needed his warmth. Opening up the front of his jacket she pressed her chest against his back and wrapped her arms tightly around him. “Better hurry up, or the offer expires.”

“I’d never turn a faithful woman into a joke. I’d turn her around and take her every which way but never a joke,” Dane said nudging the body out of their way. “I’m never too busy to have a hot stripper on the back of my motorcycle. All I ask is if you feel the urge for a cheap feel, make it a good one.”
“That’s... what I meant.” She grumbled. “Just without the vulgar details.” she shook her head softly. Hot stripper - she’d take it but it wasn’t her favorite thing to be called. “I’ll save my cheap feels for when we get to my place, deal?” She asked tilting her head a bit as she pulled the back around her more. “Can we just hurry up and get out of here.”

His grin was cocked up on one side as he watched her take off her blood-spattered shirt and put his jacket on. “You’re welcome,” He hissed as he took in the whole sight of her. “Where do you need to go tonight? I’ll make sure you get there. Consider this as a part of our deal. Can’t get a lapdance from a ghoul who wants to rip my throat out. Not that I haven’t had one before but it wasn’t a ghoul.”
Rachel looked down at the black lace that pushed her chest up way further than needed. She sighed not really caring. She’d only care if she had to watch him drool over it. Flipping her hair out from the jacket she bit her lip. “Stop.” She said rolling her eyes a little at his googly eyes. “I’m sure there are plenty of woman that want to rip your throat out, Dane. Men too honestly ... cause I’m sure you can turn a faithful woman into a joke.” She teased a little before looking down. It felt weird, but that was just the stripper side of Rachel talking to please the wolf in front of her. “Um.. I was just heading home... the loft above the bar if you’re not busy. I’ll be sure to at least make it worth the trip when we get there.”

“Fine, take your moment,” Invidia sighed with annoyance, “But hurry it up. We need to celebrate! Drinks are on me!”
Rachel looked over at her. “Drinks? W-What... why would we celebrate this? It was kinda terrifying and I almost died. Someone did die actually.” She said softly. “I wouldn’t want to celebrate my first kill... even if it was needed and I had no choice.”

“I had a feeling you’d be interested in biology,” he said, people with a warmth to them were usually interested in the building blocks of life. “Have you done any post secondary at all?”
“What makes you think that?” She asked with a small laugh as she looked down at their feet. Shaking her head she looked over at him. Biochemistry is just something I self teach.. I guess... I read up as much as I can while working to save up for school. Of course, could just use a soul, but I’d like to at least keep one. So if I ever get another.... I’ll be kinda set. I’ll get there someday.” She said softly with a smile. “All while keeping my own soul, plus one. Something about working for my education makes me admire and appreciate it more. Guess I’m old school... or just too human.”

He shook his head, “I wouldn’t say it’s ironic, I’m a collection of stars it’s only natural that I should be interested in them. It’s like any job, there are good and bad days but a good day doesn’t involve avoidance of near death so I’d say it’s pretty good. What kind of science are you most interested,” something about her struck him as a biology kind of person.
Rachel bit her lip and nodded softly. “Right.. I guess that makes some sort of sense. Besides, if anything is ever written poorly, or in the wrong context in the text books you’re first hand experience there to shut it down and teach nothing but the right knowledge. Biochemistry is my main focal point.”

Invidia heard the shots and instantly went to see where they came from. Upon arrival she saw the girl who was a mess next to the dead ghoul and laughed, “Girl, it’s no biggie. It was just a ghoul. They’re a dime a dozen these days. I totally killed like three last week. They’re the bunny rabbits of the supernatural world. Don’t worry.”

Rachel shook her head. “I know what it is. It’s not like that’s what he has always been though. I’ve never taken the life of anything until now. If you don’t mind, just let me have a moment to process this all, please.” She said softly clearing her throat with a deep breath to follow.
