Days 77-80 - Singapore: The futuristic city
Days 77-80 – Singapore: The futuristic city
Some people in life become good at certain things. Perhaps you save lives, or teach them. Perhaps you change lives, or perhaps you just manage them. Me however? Well, I just procrastinate! Not for the first time on here, I must sincerely apologise for the lack of posts, for it is bordering on a month now since we last updated the blog. Despite the lack of action we still didn’t finish talking…

Days 74-76 - Langkawi: Island Paradise 2
Days 74-76 – Langkawi: Island Paradise 2
Suffice to say that we had the best time on the island of Langkawi. By the end of the 3 days we had explored the length and breadth of the island, visited a number of very cool beaches and bars, and were stuffed full of breathtaking views. On day 74 we checked out early from our hotel in Georgetown, and walked for about 30 minutes up the road to the ferry terminal. We had booked our ticket online…

Days 70-73 - Georgetown: Coffee and Art of Penang
Days 70-73 – Georgetown: Coffee and Art of Penang
Hello strangers! Apologies for the long absence from the blog, since the last update we’ve arrived in Australia! The past few days have been quite busy moving around and getting ourselves settled, as well as trying to look around Sydney and Melbourne. But more of that in a later post. For now, let’s get back to where we left off,, where we left you on our last night in Tanah Rata in the Cameron…

Days 68-69 - Tea Time in Tanah Rata
Days 68-69 – Tea Time in Tanah Rata
On Day 68 we were down at the restaurant where we would be getting our transport to Cameron Highlands by 9.15 am. We had pancakes for breakfast whilst waiting, and finally we were told to go towards a van in the car park. Although we had paid to travel by boat to Kuala Tahan, Suzanne (who booked it) didn’t think we would want to do the boat again on the way back. I was very glad of this decision,…

Days 66-67 - Welcome to the Jungle: Taman Negara
Days 66-67 – Welcome to the Jungle: Taman Negara
The small village with the name of Kuala Tahan on the edge of the Taman Negara National Park was possibly the strangest, hottest places we’ve been. Saying that makes it seem like we didn’t like the place. On the contrary, we couldn’t have enjoyed it more (well it could have been 5 degrees colder and with less bugs but apart from that). Our travel from KL was booked through Han travel, who on the…

Days 64-65 - The Festivals of Kuala Lumpur
Days 64-65 – The Festivals of Kuala Lumpur
First thing you should know before we tell you about our 2 whole days in Kuala Lumpur is that is was over Easter Weekend. Second thing is that there was also a Hindu festival over the weekend. And third thing is that we hadn’t been paying attention to the date and had forgotten all of this. Obviously upon arrival in Kuala Lumpur, the main attraction and big touristy thing to do is the Petronas…

Days 62-63 - From Cat (Ba) to Kuala (Lumpur)
Days 62-63 – From Cat (Ba) to Kuala (Lumpur)
These two days were mainly travelling. We woke on Day 62 in our hotel on Cat Ba Island in Halong Bay, and we went to bed on Day 63 in Kuala Lumpur after travelling via Hanoi. We were very tired by the end, and we had been anticipating the end of our trip. We were mentally ready for our trip to come to an end, and starting to get ready for our working holiday in Australia. When we arrived in KL…

Day 61 - Halong Bay Tour Part 2: Action Packed
Day 61 – Halong Bay Tour Part 2: Action Packed
Welcome back! We are still very behind in updating the blog posts, but there’s a lot to talk about and so little time to write about it all! On Day 61 we were waking up early on a boat in a small bay within the magnificent whole of Halong Bay. The water had been perfectly still all night, with not a sound heard from anywhere, and even as we woke the landscape was still and silent. Many of…

Day 60 - Halong Bay Tour Part 1: An Intro with Bobby
Day 60 – Halong Bay Tour Part 1: An Intro with Bobby
So here we are, the day we’d been waiting for! An early start for us, but we were eagerly anticipating our days travel. For the next few days we were to take a bus to Halong Bay, take part in a range of activities, sleep on a boat, experience stunning scenery, visit Vietnam’s biggest floating village and one its most untouched villages on Cat Ba Island, before coming back to Hanoi! Not to mention…

Days 57-59 - Hanoi: A Lesson in Road Safety
Days 57-59 – Hanoi: A Lesson in Road Safety
With Day 57 came more train travelling, but only for a short while this time. Fortunately, we didn’t have to wake early, and after having a late breakfast and getting our lovely hotel to call us a taxi, we were soon waiting at Ninh Binh station for our quarter past 1 train to Hanoi. This train, as all of them before, had been booked by Suzanne on 12go.asia. A note on our guesthouse-it was run by…
